The concept of cell is one of material that is quite complicated because it contains abstract concepts such as cell organelles and the mechanism of transport of substances. This study aims to identify the mental models of high school students about the concept of cells represented in written, oral, and picture forms. The method used is descriptive method. In this research, the method use to find mental model of senior high school studets in cells subject. The students are given diagnostic test, as multiple choice, visual test, and oral test which used as students’  mental model parameter. Majority grade XI students of science in senior high school have scientific model, in other words written ideas which refer to the concept with scientific understanding or have basic theory. It can be find in the result: 40% scentific for writing test, 53% scientific for oral test, and 40% scientific for drawing test. Whereas, grade XI students of science in private high school, the students have experience model which shows from their reprecentation which based on analogy. It can be find in the result: 42% experience for writing test, 57% experience for oral test, and 42% experience for drawing test.

Abstract. The purpose of this research was to know the effectiveness of pictures in writing class of senior high school students. It employed a quantitative method using the quasi-experimental design. The subject of the research was the third year students of on senior high school in Sidrap Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The total number of population is 100 students which are distributed in 5 classes. Each class consists of 20 students. The sampling technique used in this research is cluster random sampling. The instrument was a writing test to obtain data on the students’ writing achievement through the pictures. Based on the result the researcher concluded that the pictures enhance the writing skill of senior high schools’ students.

This study was carried out to categorize and describe the six aspects of critical thinking in writing analytical exposition text activity toward the introvert senior high school students at the eleventh grade. The aspects were focus, supporting reason, reasoning, organization, convention and integration. The research design was a qualitative descriptive research. This study involved 3 introvert students who have the highest score in selecting the introvert subjects’ personality from eleventh grade. The data were divided by two, data for selecting the subject and data for categorizing and describing the critical thinking in writing. First, the data was obtained from questionnaire of MBTI, observation and interview. Second, data was obtained from writing test and interview. The findings in writing analytical exposition text that were assessed toward scoring rubric from (Finken & Ennis, 1993) that subject 1 and 2 have high critical thinking category. Then, subject 3 has a very high critical thinking category. Every subject has good capacity in six aspects, but the subject 1 and 2 were strong in focus aspect. Subject 3 was strong in focus and reasoning. The subjects were lack in convention and integration aspects.

The study deals with the developing interactive media for senior high school students. The objective of this study is to find out how to develop interactive media for better speaking skill of senior high school students. The research was conducted by using Research and Development (R&D). The subject of this research was 2016/2017 students of the eleventh grade of Class XI IPA4 in SMAN 1 Batang Kuis. The number of the students was 30 students. The data of this study was collected by using need analysis questionnaire and experts’ judgment. Need analysis questionnaire was calculated by using percentage to get the information of students’ need before developing interactive media. Experts’ judgment was calculated by using likert data, mean and criteria interval of expert judgment to know the validity of interactive media which has been developed. After the data analyzed, it was found that the experts’ judgment result was 4.80 which had a very good criteria interval. The result of the research find that interactive media is a very good to be used in teaching speaking skill.

This study is about the characteristics of Physics Module to improve students of Senior High School reasoning ability-based on Multirepresentation. The problem of study is how characteristics of Physics Modules Based on Multirepresentation to improve students ability to reason? This problem is described in two study questions. First, is the Physics Module based on Multirepresentation contains examples of the application context of the image phenomenon ofphysics? Second, how is the writing pattern of Physics Module? This study is about Physics module development based on Multirepresentation, using the mix method model of investigation that collecting qualitative data, then construct the draft Module Physics, so the Module Physics ready to be validated. Subjects in this study is a Physics module which can improve the reasoning ability of students in Senior High School. While respondents were Senior High School students majoring in science at the students in Senior High School. Data collection techniques are observations, questionnaires, and documents. Data described in qualitative research. The results showed that the physics module based on Multirepresentation contains examples of application of the principle of material in the context of the image physical phenomenon ; and has a certain writing pattern, which has a chapter title sequence, sub-chapter title, instructions for use, a description of the material, sample questions, questions test capabilities, and bibliography.

Physics teaching materials for Senior High School that supporting the development of human resources that is able to adapt to any changes, to solve complex problems, creative thinking and familiar with information technology has not been widely available in senior high schools in West Sumatra. Based on the above, research that aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of Physics teaching materials that integrates Mathematics, Science, Technology, natural disasters, and the noble character (MSTBK) on WEB for Senior High School grade XI and to determine the effect of the use of teaching materials MSTBK on the learning outcomes of high school students in class XI. The quasi-experiment design research was comparing the learning outcome before and after the state of the object being treated. The treatments were using physics teaching materials that developed for teaching learning in Senior High School grade XI. The experiment was conducted at five senior high schools in West Sumatra were divided into 3 levels. The data were analyzed by using a statistical product moment and Anova. The research showed that the physics teaching materials that developed are effectively to improve student learning outcomes in Senior High School grade XI in West Sumatera with a correlation coefficient (r_xy) = 0. 31. Levene Statistic showed the average of the learning outcomes of high school students in grade XI was different, but yet rules Tukey HSD and Bonferroni statistics show that there are not significantly of 0.05 at a significance level in West Sumatra
