Nine traits of 11 cherry tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) var. cerasiforme (Dunal) A. Gray) inbred lines exhibited a wide range of genetic variability. High geno- and phenotypic coefficients of variation were obtained for individual fruit weight (68.16 and 74.23%, respectively) followed by number of fruits/plant (58.8 and 68.34%, respectively). High estimates of heritability, genetic advance and genotypic coefficient of variation for the traits of individual fruit weight, number of fruits and clusters/plant were controlled by additive gene action indicating the possibility of selection to improve these characters. Fruit yield/plant showed low heritability along with low genetic advance and did not show significant and positive correlation with the remaining characters. It indicates that improvement of high yield through selection is difficult, rather hybridization can be effective for improving the fruit yield/plant. Among the lines, CH154 produced the highest number of fruits/plant (291) and highest fruit yield (1.89 kg/plant and 63.4 t/ha) and can be selected for cultivation under Bangladesh condition. Fast dissolving/disintegrating tablets have received ever-increasing demand during the last decade, and the field has became a rapidly growing area in the pharmaceutical area. Particularly the fast dissolving drug delivery systems formulated with natural polymers have more demand because natural materials like gums and mucilages have been extensively used in the field of drug delivery for their easy availability, ease administration, non toxicity, non irritant nature etc. The main aim of the present study was to formulate the fast dissolving tablets of amlodipine besylate tablets using Fenugreek seed mucilage and Ocimum basilicum gum as a natural superdisintegrating agents to achieve quick onset of action, is to increase the water uptake with in shortest wetting time and there by decrease the disintegration time of the tablets by simple and cost effective direct compression technique. Pre-compression parameters like angle of repose and post-compression parameters like wetting time, water absorption ratio, in-vitro disintegration and in-vitro dispersion time were studied. The hardness, friability and drug content of all the formulations were found to be within the limits. The best formulations FFGK5 & FOB5 have shown good disintegration time, hardness and friability. The best formulations were also found to be stable. Optimized formulation was subjected to stability studies as per ICH guidelines and it insignificant change in hardness, disintegration time and in vitro drug release.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/icpj.v1i9.11614 International Current Pharmaceutical Journal 2012, 1(9): 243-249

Several methodologies are required to achieve good productivity results. The purpose of the present work was to know and debate through a bibliographical review how the irrigation shift can be used as a tool for improvements of hydroponic systems, specifically for cherry tomato crop, reporting the advantages and disadvantages that the hydroponic system can add compared to the conventional cultivation system, besides addressing aspects related to the cherry tomato crop as climatic requirements and commercialization. The nutrient solution, adopted in hydroponic systems considers the elements that are necessary for the plant development, it is worth mentioning that   tomato is a plant highly demanding in nutrients. The irrigation shift can be used to reduce expenses with electricity, less use of nutrients as well as decrease the amount of water used for circulation in the system. Hydroponics is presented  as a widely used cropping technique for many crops, mitigating phytosanitary problems, improving the control of nutritional aspects, reducing the crop cycle and obtaining high quality olericultural plants with high commercial standards. The suitability of the irrigation shift in cherry tomatoes is economically viable and sustainable to the producer, reducing expenses and optimizing production. Keywords: Solanum lycopersicum var. cerasiforme. Twenty-nine genotypes of cherry tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L. var. cerasiforme) were evaluated for their genetic variability and heritability. A wide range of genetic variability was observed for twenty traits of cherry tomato genotypes. The analysis of variance was significant for all the characters indicating genetic variability in the genotypes under the study except number of locules per fruit. The highest phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variation were observed for lycopene (43.12, 42.94), total carotenoids (42.82, 42.51), average fruit weight (42.52, 42.50), fruit yield per hectare (42.29, 42.24). In general Phenotypic Coefficient of Variation (PCV) was marginally higher than the corresponding Genotypic Coefficient of Variation (GCV) indicating the less influence of environment in the expression of traits under study. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance as percentage of mean was observed for almost all characters indicating that most of the traits studied were mainly controlled by additive gene effect and thus selection may be effective.
