This study aims to discuss the thoughts of education Fazlur Rahman and its contribution to the development of Islamic education theory today. Data collection used documentation method. The collected data sources serve as documents. The documents are then read and understood to find the necessary data in accordance with the formulation of the problems that exist in this study. After the necessary data is considered sufficient, systematized for further analysis. Fazlur Rahman as one of the reformers in Islamic education contributes by offering a more emphasis on development strategies in areas that are part of the education system itself, as well as integrating the two sciences, in order to avoid disintegration in education, so that there is no gap between the sciences -science. The idea of Rahman in the renewal of Islamic education, which is about the purpose of education, education system, learners, educators, educational facilities, and Islamic education curriculum.

Civil society concept is a new pursuit of Indonesian nation, especially after reformation era. Civil society formed through several ways and policy, one that relative effective is by education, with formal institute or at society. In spite of the fact that Education System act (UU Sisdiknas) is enough comprehensive to form holistic Indonesian people, there’s bias in its implication. This article is trying to trace different education theory, from several schools of thought, namely empiricism, nativism, naturalism, convergence, progressivism, essentialism, perennials, and constructivism. Those different thought affect education process, include its implication to build civil society. Teacher role, also school curriculum, leaning model, and tools and resources have critical role to reach desirable learning result.

The article emphasizes that J. A. Komensky as one of the creators of the modern pedagogical system showed himself in his numerous works as a passionate and consistent supporter of education general democratization. For the first time in the history of world pedagogical thought he created a system of rational and progressive didactics, substantiated the significant influence of native language on training and education. From the standpoint of democracy and humanism, he made a profound and substantiated critical analysis of the entire medieval and scholastic system of education. He thoroughly studied, and according to his social, pedagogical and philosophical outlook critically reworked those valuables that his predecessors and contemporaries accumulated in the theory and practice of education. J. Komensky developed a progressive pedagogical doctrine permeated with the idea of nationality. On the basis of Komensky’s fundamental philosophical and pedagogical work “Great Didacticsˮ the paper analyses the authorʼs contribution to the development of the education theory and practice. It proclaims the exceptional importance of the work, which substantiates a new system of human education based on the carefully learned laws of nature, and addressed to the eternal values. The focus is laid on the scientist’s basic innovative approaches, namely to the development of methods, didactic principles, rules of teaching, the provisions of the education system and school studies, etc. The authors of the article conclude that in modern conditions of modernizing, renewing the various segments of the Ukrainian education system according to the European requirements and criteria the idea of the creative, constructive and critical comprehension and reception of the unique and diverse pedagogical heritage of Jan Amos Komensky by specialists, theorists and practitioners remains relevant. However, how does a case of woman partially live as a single parent functioning her educational system? In this context, a writer does research on what Islamic concepts of a family education are. This study discusses the teaching-learning process seen from the humanistic education theory from Carl Ransom Rogers at Asmaul Husna Learning Park, South Jakarta. This paper focuses on the educational perspective's operation through fun learning techniques, integrated learning, and thematic learning. In this paper, the data sources are obtained through field observations and structured interviews from January to July 2019 using the case study method. Through the humanistic educational theory approach, this educational study is the importance of understanding the character and potential of early childhood to optimally develop children intellectual, emotional, and spiritual intelligence. Although sometimes some students are disobedient or lazy to take part in learning, teachers and institutional managers anticipate this by presenting information about child development. Even to a certain extent, the institution also includes parents to participate in learning activities together. Here is also the importance of a teacher's creativity in communicating, choosing parenting styles, and various other stimulations when carrying out the teaching and learning process in class and outside the classroom. Without teachers' creativity in teaching and learning, the improvement and enhancement of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects will not be optimal. An educational perspective places the humanization aspect as the basis for transferring knowledge, transferring human values, and transferring happiness.

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas mengenai pemikiran pendidikan Fazlur Rahman dan kontribusinya terhadap perkembangan teori pendidikan Islam saat ini. Pengumpulan data digunakan metode dokumentasi. Sumber-sumber data yang telah terkumpul dijadikan sebagai dokumen. Dokumen-dokumen tersebut kemudian dibaca dan dipahami untuk menemukan data yang diperlukan sesuai dengan rumusan masalah yang ada pada penelitian ini. Setelah data yang diperlukan dianggap cukup, dilakukan sistematisasi untuk selanjutnya dilakukan analisis. Fazlur Rahman sebagai salah satu pembaharu dalam pendidikan Islam memberikan sumbangsihnya dengan menawarkan strategi pengembangan yang lebih ditekankan dalam bidang-bidang yang merupakan bagian dari sistem pendidikan itu sendiri, serta mengintegrasikan kedua ilmu tersebut, agar tidak terjadi disintegrasi dalam pendidikan, agar tidak terjadi kesenjangan antar ilmu-ilmu. Adapun gagasan Rahman dalam pembaharuan pendidikan Islam, yakni mengenai tujuan pendidikan, sistem pendidikan, peserta didik, pendidik, sarana pendidikan, serta kurikulum pendidikan Islam.
