The article presents an analysis of possible directions of using artificial intelligence in education. It is shown that artificial intelligence in modern distance education contributes to its further development in the direction of modernization and has a significant impact, especially on the modern distance learning system. The requirements for artificial intelligence on the part of education and the negative consequences of the use of artificial intelligence and problems that may affect the quality of education are analyzed. The possible directions of work in terms of the development of artificial intelligence related to the development of knowledge representation models, the creation of knowledge bases forming the core of the expert system are considered. Attention is drawn to the fact that an intelligent learning system should be able to perform various functions of a teacher (to help in the process of solving problems, to determine the cause of students’ mistakes, to choose the optimal educational impact) almost as intelligently as a person does. Attention is also paid to such a direction as the use of intelligent chat-bots or conversational agents and their applications.

The article is devoted to the analysis of training methods in higher educational institutions, the comparison of the main characteristics of the educational process in institutions of full-time and distance learning, their disadvantages in modern conditions are identified, the main advantages of distance learning, compared to the ways of providing and processing information, the interaction of teachers and students of different forms of education, the application of methods of facilitation and development of cognitive flexibility in modern distance education are considered. The directions of distance learning influence on the process of formation of students' creativity and freedom of opinions, ability to search for solutions, and aspiration to self-education are described. The relationship between the methods of facilitation and formation of cognitive flexibility in students' education is revealed. The main directions of self-improvement and peculiar characteristics of teachers who can perform the functions of a facilitator of the educational process are described. The influence of the teacher-facilitator and distance education methods directly as a facilitator of the process of formation of cognitive flexibility of students is considered.

The object of research is the quality of teaching technical and mathematical disciplines in modern distance education. One of the most problematic areas is communication, dialogue between a teacher and a student, personality problems in the teacher-student dyad, and the effectiveness of feedback. The idea of distance learning, obviously, is that the interaction between teacher and student takes place in a virtual space. The more efficiently this interaction is built by using a variety of techniques, methods, the better a teaching process. Distance teaching is essentially a person-centered form of education. This is a separate modern educational technology that provides a choice for the teacher, the ability to select educational material depending on the information needs of students. In the course of the study, the main possibilities for improving the effectiveness of feedback between the student and the teacher and the forms of implementing such communication were considered. The organizational and pedagogical conditions for the use of the system of certain elements of distance learning in the process of vocational training have been substantiated. Modern information technologies and innovative teaching methods in training specialists are described. It is proposed to use more actively such elements as an interactive whiteboard, interactive processing of students’ statements during a survey, both in the form of tests or a forum, and in the form of a «word cloud». The use of these interactive elements has proven itself in practice. As a tool for objective assessment of the level of feedback, a comparative analysis of statistical data is proposed, which concerns the distribution of marks at the beginning and at the end of the distance learning course. This data can also be interpreted as an indicator of the quality of teaching. In particular, the analysis of school preparation of students for mastering mathematical disciplines in higher education was carried out. Comparative analysis substantiated, in particular, the need for additional classes for students with poor preparation.

Modern education is a phenomenon that combines offline education (traditional, classroom education) and online education (innovative, distance education), and in recent years its second form has become widespread that it is perceived as a direct threat to the existence of the first one. In a social, scientific and teachers’ field an ambiguous attitude towards online education phenomenon has developed, educational researchers study both positive characteristics of distant education (massiveness, accessibility, various areas, an opportunity to study at any time in any place) and circumstances suggesting some vigilance towards this form of education (not suitable for developing practical skills, there is no precise contact, a low number of students finish courses). Online education is a popular form of modern distance education, implemented through massive open and massive closed educational courses, that is, online courses of specific universities which are placed on world and domestic educational platforms. If, regarding the training of young people (students) through online technologies, the debate about the appropriateness and effectiveness of this form does not subside, then for teachers and university leadership (especially a provincial), online courses are almost a panacea for solving the problem of advanced training. In this research online courses are studied as a form of a university teacher’s professional development. Informal interviews with professors’ Khakas State University named after N.F. Katanov, who had an online course experience, were conducted. The study has revealed the reasons teachers’ satisfaction of this form of this education form and some aspects of their positive and negative experience, etc. Keywords: distant education, online learning, online courses, massive open online courses, mass closed online courses

In recent years, lifelong education has become widespread in the public, contributing to explosive development of modern distance education. Meanwhile, distance learners have gradually had more and higher demands for online learning resources. Despite abundant online learning resources at present, their overall quality is relatively low and they can hardly satisfy learners’ learning demands. Based on customer satisfaction, the essay establishes evaluation indexes about online learning resources based on customer satisfaction, improves its development and proposes suggestions for improvement, which is of great theoretical and practical significance.
