The bimetallic mill roller has been produced by the method of vertical axis centrifugal casting. The processes, accompanying the formation of the structure of the external (working) layer from high chromium material of the bimetallic roller have been investigated. A mathematical model for the geometry of the working layer was created. By using the MAGMA Soft software package, simulations of the processes of casting and crystallization have been made. A metallographic assessment of the microstructure has been made.

Subject of the investigation is a bimetallic mill roller with external, working layer from high chromium material and inner, supporting layer from ductile cast iron. The processes, accompanying the formation of a transition layer in bimetallic castings, produced by centrifugal casting have been investigated. Attention has paid to the structural changes in the transition zone, caused by the diffusion processes occurring during the casting and crystallization.

Abstract The method for analysing transversal plane images from computer tomography scans is considered in the paper. This method allows not only approximating ribs-bounded contour but also evaluating patient rotation around the vertical axis during a scan. In this method, a mathematical model describing the ribs-bounded contour was created and the problem of approximation has been solved by finding the optimal parameters of the mathematical model using least-squares-type objective function. The local search has been per-formed using local descent by quasi-Newton methods. The benefits of analytical derivatives of the function are disclosed in the paper.

To calculate the optimal control, a satisfactory mathematical model of the control object is required. Further, when implementing the calculated controls on a real object, the same model can be used in robot navigation to predict its position and correct sensor data, therefore, it is important that the model adequately reflects the dynamics of the object. Model derivation is often time-consuming and sometimes even impossible using traditional methods. In view of the increasing diversity and extremely complex nature of control objects, including the variety of modern robotic systems, the identification problem is becoming increasingly important, which allows you to build a mathematical model of the control object, having input and output data about the system. The identification of a nonlinear system is of particular interest, since most real systems have nonlinear dynamics. And if earlier the identification of the system model consisted in the selection of the optimal parameters for the selected structure, then the emergence of modern machine learning methods opens up broader prospects and allows you to automate the identification process itself. In this paper, a wheeled robot with a differential drive in the Gazebo simulation environment, which is currently the most popular software package for the development and simulation of robotic systems, is considered as a control object. The mathematical model of the robot is unknown in advance. The main problem is that the existing mathematical models do not correspond to the real dynamics of the robot in the simulator. The paper considers the solution to the problem of identifying a mathematical model of a control object using machine learning technique of the neural networks. A new mixed approach is proposed. It is based on the use of well-known simple models of the object and identification of unaccounted dynamic properties of the object using a neural network based on a training sample. To generate training data, a software package was written that automates the collection process using two ROS nodes. To train the neural network, the PyTorch framework was used and an open source software package was created. Further, the identified object model is used to calculate the optimal control. The results of the computational experiment demonstrate the adequacy and performance of the resulting model. The presented approach based on a combination of a well-known mathematical model and an additional identified neural network model allows using the advantages of the accumulated physical apparatus and increasing its efficiency and accuracy through the use of modern machine learning tools.

A mathematical model that describes a batch flotation process is presented. The model employed a similar method to the hindered settling of flocculated material. This idea is based on our experimental results that the time growth curves of separated liquor zone showed a similar character to the settling curve of flocculated material, when the vertical axis reversed. In this model, it is also assumed that the gas phase and solid phase have the same movement, that is microbubbles and solid sludge particles joined to form aggregated floc. By comparing the numerical prediction with experimental data, the usefulness of the model is confirmed and some examples of flotation simulation are demonstrated.

From a geometric viewpoint, a mathematical model of a single screw compressor with a conjugate pair of meshing conical teeth gate rotor is a conjugate problem. Coordinate transformation and envelope theory are applied to determine the sets of spatial points of the contacting surfaces that define the main rotor of a single screw compressor. Envelope theory and analytical procedure are used to derive mathematical models of a gate rotor and a main rotor. Stress analysis for the single screw compressor mechanism is performed. PowerMILL software package is used to simulate the manufacture of a main rotor. A numerical example with a compressor ratio of 11:6 is presented to demonstrate the application of the mathematical models developed in this paper.

Presented simulation mathematical model of the mechanism of rotation of the column manipulator with energy-saving hydraulic drive. The model takes into account three mechanical process: the rotational movement of the column arm around a vertical axis load sway relative attachment points on the boom arm and the piston motion of fluid accumulator. To describe the rotation of the column using the basic equation of dynamics of rotational motion. The load represented either as a mass point, when the dimen-sions are small and the proportionality, or a rod if the simulated moving manipulator logs or pipes.

To improve the wear resistance of high chromium white cast iron under severe abrasive conditions, a composites layer was designed for wear surface, which were locally reinforced with WC particles. And the local composites were successfully fabricated by optimized centrifugal casting process. Then the interface between WC and iron matrix was analyzed with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). And three body wear tests were carried out on a self-made rig to investigate the wear resistance of the composites. For comparison, the wear tests of high chromium white cast iron were also carried out under the same conditions. The results show that: There are no defects such as inclusion, crack, gas pore and so on in the obtained composites layer, which with a uniform thickness of 10 mm. WC particles are homogeneously distributed in the composites layer and tightly bonded with the iron matrix. The WC particles are partially dissolved in the iron matrix during centrifugal casting. The elements W, C and Fe react to form new carbides such as Fe3W3C or M23C6, which precipitate around former WC particles during subsequent solidification. So the interface between WC particles and the iron matrix is a strong metallurgical bonding. WC particles in the composites layer can effectively resist cutting by the abrasive, and then protect the matrix. The wear resistance of the composites layer is 7.23 times of that of high chromium cast iron.

The purpose of the study is to increase the completeness and reliability of approaches to deter-mining the components of the cornering resistance a tracked vehicle, as well as to create a method for their assessment, which will be suitable for practical calculations. The article analyzes two components of the moment of cornering resistance of the tracked vehi-cle, which can be distinguished if we consider the interaction of the caterpillar with the support base through separate contact spots (active sections of the tracks located under the road wheels). The first component arises from the linear movement of the active sections of the tracks. The second is caused by the rotational movement of the contact patch about the vertical axis. The paper presents a mathematical model of the interaction of the propeller and a dense support base, which makes it possible to study the dependence of the components of the moment of corner-ing resistance on the geometric parameters of the undercarriage of a tracked vehicle. The horizontal reaction force in this case is presented as a function of the slip coefficient. The possibility of realiz-ing various adhesion qualities of the propulsion unit in the longitudinal and transverse directions of sliding is provided. The model assumes a preliminary division of the contact patch into a finite number of elementary areas. Since the number of elementary sites affects the result, the article con-ducted a study to determine the minimum number of sites to ensure acceptable accuracy. An analysis of the expressions available in the literature was carried out to determine the speci-fied component of the cornering resistance. The new empirical relationships that better agree with the mathematical model were proposed. The study of several existing tracked vehicles, differing in the mass and size of the track support surface, made it possible to conclude that it is advisable to take into account the moment of cornering resistance of the contact patch for various types of tracked vehicles.

The paper deals with the problem of mathematical modeling of biological wastewater treatment. The peculiarity of the biological treatment system is that a block with activated sludge, called an aeration tank, is used for water purification. To describe the process of biological wastewater treatment in aeration tanksa mathematical model developed in the GPS-X software package is proposed.
