The first fluorination of the cuspidine-related phases of Ln4(Al2O7□)O2 (where Ln = Sm, Eu, Gd) is reported. A low-temperature reaction with poly(vinylidene difluoride) lead to the fluorine being substituted in place of oxygen and inserted into the vacant position between the dialuminate groups. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy shows the presence of the F 1s photoelectron together with an increase in Al 2p and rare-earth 4d binding energies supporting F incorporation. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analyses are consistent with the formula Ln4(Al2O6F2)O2, confirming that substitution of one oxygen by two fluoride atoms has been achieved. Rietveld refinements show an expansion in the cell upon fluorination and confirm that the incorporation of fluoride in the Ln4(Al2O7□)O2 structure results in changes in Al coordination from four to five. Thus, the isolated tetrahedral dialuminate Al2O7 groups are converted to chains of distorted square-based pyramids. These structural results are also discussed based on Raman spectra.

The definition and essence of hiring personnel, the process of searching, selecting and hiring employees are revealed. A comparative analysis of the points of view of different authors on the recruitment procedure is carried out. The article presents the scientific, pedagogical and medical activities of the graduate of the Gatchina Nikolaevsky Orphan Institute and the Imperial Military Medical Academy (IMMA), surgeon privat-docent dentist Peter Fedorovich Fedorov, who worked in the IMMA for 22 years. It should be noted that the name of privat-docent P F. Fedorov was undeservedly forgotten. Only in the early 2000s, at the initiative of the staff of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, P F. Prokvatilov, D. Yu. Madaya, V F. Chernysha, G. S. Chepik, the articles about privat-docent P F. Fedorov began to publish in the collections of scientific conferences. P. F. Fedorov was a strong and consistent supporter of creating odontology department and clinic in IMMA for training of specialists with higher medical education who can treat dental diseases, diseases of oral organs and maxillofacial area. Long-term scientific, pedagogical and medical work of privatdocent P. F. Fedorov within the IMMA, his efforts and persistance in creating the department and clinic, make it possible to consider him the truly founder of domestic military odontology, and 1891 was defined the date of official recognition of military dentistry as an independent clinical discipline,, when, by the decision of the Conference, a private health center on dental diseases was opened in IMMA and a competition for a vacant position was announced. November 28, 1892, when the Conference of the IMMA approved the «Program of training in dental diseases», compiled by the assistant professor P. F. Fedorov, he began to give his lectures to students of the academy and military doctors. In 2007, a group of authors (G. A. Prokhvkilov, V. F. Chernysh, G. S. Chepik) published the monograph «P. F. Fedorov — the founder of domestic military dentistry « that was reissued in 2009 with the assistance of the Head of the Medical Service of the Russian Navy, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Colonel of the Medical Service, Professor V.K. Sementsov under the name «Privat-docent P. F. Fedorov» (Strokes to the portrait). February 5, 2008, by the decision of the Head of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery and Dentistry, Colonel of Medical Service, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Honored Doctor of Russia, Professor G. I. Prkhvilov, a portrait of privat-docent for dental diseases IVMA P. F. Fedorov, written by a member of the Union of Artists of Russia A. A. Em Ciência da Informação, áreas de atuação distintas exigem profissionais distintos. AbstractIn Information Science different fields of work seeks for different professional backgrounds. If, on the one hand, the generalist background of the librarian assures him/her a broad labor market, on the other hand, the unskilled professionals may find difficulty to fill a vacant position. With a few exceptions, fields such as Health Sciences require a competence model not achieved in undergraduate courses. The Improvement Program in Documentation and Information on Health Sciences was implemented with the purpose to provide qualification and professional skills, and to fill the gap of academic courses in Library Science and Information Science. Currently, this program is in the process of being settled and evaluated.

Paper credentials similar to those found in most college placement files were used to create 12 hypothetical teacher candidates. Contents of these credentials were varied systematically to reflect all combinations of college preparatory institutions (Holmes vs. Traditional), type of educational degree (BA vs. MA), and chronological age of teacher candidate (29 yrs, 49 yrs, or control). For each experimental condition senior high school principals ( n = 360) were selected at random from all public school districts in the United States, assigned at random to a specific experimental condition, and requested to evaluate a hypothetical teacher candidate as if screening for a vacant position in their building. Fixed effect analyses of variance revealed a statistically significant interaction involving type of educational degree × chronological age. Holmes prepared candidates were perceived to be similar to traditional candidates and equally likely to be extended an offer to interview.

This chapter focuses on challenges to the heir apparent, when, despite an established pattern of succession, a lawmaker wishing to ascend the so-called leadership ladder to a newly vacant position is challenged by another candidate. These types of races often occur when the heir apparent is politically vulnerable or a sizeable group of partisans support a rival on political or personal grounds. The chapter analyzes three challenges to the heir apparent. The first was probably the most famous example of this type of race in the contemporary House—the 1976 race for Democratic majority leader—and the other two were races for Republican majority leader in early 2006 and, after that year's congressional elections, Democratic majority leader. In all three instances, one of the candidates running for majority leader was serving as whip, a position that at the time was the “natural” precursor to becoming leader.
