All these clauses emphasize on technical aspects. Therefore, the value aspect should also be emphasized that the practice of ISO 9000 can be implemented in a balanced way. The objective of this article is to examine Islamic values in the implementation of ISO 9000 in Malaysian HEI. This qualitative study uses a public HEI located in the Klang Valley as a case study. Semi-structural interview is used as a data collection method. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis method. The research findings show that there are five Islamic values practiced in the implementation of ISO 9000 namely Shura, Itqan, discipline, responsibility and Istiqamah. All of these Islamic values help in implementing ISO 9000 effectively in Malaysian HEI.

The authors of the article explore the problem of introducing process and risk-oriented thinking in national organizations. In 2000 the International Organization for Standartization, ISO, announced process approach as the basis principle of management in any organization. It became the embodiment of Deming’s postulate who recommended to consider any activity as a technological process. The authors show the practicability of transition from the functional structure of an organization to integrated process. New ISO 9000:2015 standards reflect presentday challenges and require that organizations should carry out risk assessment and accounting. One of the key objectives of the quality management system is to act as the prevention tool. Preventive action lies in using riskoriented thinking in formulating requirements to the quality management system. The authors introduce the system analysis method in risk management to reveal potential risks and plan preventive action.

PurposeBased on the principles of the human capital theory, this study investigates the role of the quality management system (QMS) in higher education institutions (HEIs) in developing successful employability attributes among graduates. Considering industry as a prominent stakeholder in academia, the authors took industry–academia collaboration as the mediating variable.Design/methodology/approachUsing the European Foundation for Quality Management model, the author analyzed how QMS in public HEIs located in London, the United Kingdom (UK), impacts business management, computer science and engineering students' employability. Following the nonprobability convenience sampling technique, this study included data from 324 local and international students.FindingsThe structural analysis identified QMS as a significant factor in enhancing students' employability, and industry–academia collaboration is found to act as a partial mediator in this relationship.Originality/valueThe management of HEIs in developing countries can take valuable guidelines from this study and integrate QMS in their institutions in developing their students' employability, as it is being done by HEIs in the UK.

It is clear that ISO 9000 Quality Management System and Total Quality Management have an extensive literature. However, it is observed that the literature principally focuses on implementation consequences of them. In this study, ISO 9000 Quality Management System certification process in a faculty of a Turkish public university is taken into consideration. However, the study focuses on not only consequences of taking this certification but also its' triggers and processes. To examine these triggers, processes and consequences, data collection methods of the study were semi-structured interviews and unstructured participative observation. In addition, extensive amount of document was used to make triangulation.
