Reading is a complex and difficult cognitive activity which involves acquiring reading comprehension skills. The teacher’s task is to support students in this process. The article analyses selected opportunities how it can be done. An interesting area investigated by psychologists is the role of working memory in the effectiveness of reading. While there is agreement on the existence of such a dependence, there is no certainty that it is possible to shape it and if so, to what extent. The second task the teacher has to face is to present various strategies helpful in reading comprehension. While the strategies mentioned in this text are the subject of considerations of many authors, the role of metacognitive strategies is worth paying attention to. Supporting the ability to control own learning process, organisation of this process and evaluation of the obtained results, refers not only to learning reading, but also to the quality of learning in general. The last factor necessary for reading comprehension raised in this text is motivation. Developing motivation to read is not an easy task, but it can be achieved in many different ways.

Penelitian tindakan kelas ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa dengan hambatan pendengaran melalui penerapan Metode Maternal Reflektif (MMR) dalam pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan hasil tes kemampuan awal yang dilakukan pada siswa dengan hambatan pendengaran kelas IV di SLB yang menjadi partisipan penelitian, dapat dilihat bahwa kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa masih perlu ditingkatkan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari 1 siswa laki-laki dan 3 siswa perempuan. Penelitian dilakukan dalam dua siklus, dalam setiap siklus terdiri dari 4 tahapan yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Metode dalam pengumpulan data berupa observasi kelas, tes kemampuan membaca pemahaman, dan dokumentasi data pelengkap. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan MMR dalam pembelajaran dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa dengan hambatan pendengaran secara signifikan.   The purpose of this classroom action research was to improve the reading comprehension of students with hearing impairments through the application of Maternal Reflective Methods (MMR) in the learning activity. Based on the results of observations and initial tests on students with hearing impairment in grade 4 of school for students with disabilities, it is evident that students reading comprehension skills need to be improved further. The Maternal Reflective Method is utilized to improve reading comprehension for students with hearing impairments. The research participants consisted of a male and three females with hearing impairment students. The research was held in two cycles. Each cycle consists of 4 stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The data were obtained through classroom observation, reading comprehension tests, and supplementary documents. The results showed that the utilization of the Maternal Reflective Method in learning activity could significantly improve reading comprehension for students with hearing impairments.

ABSTRAK       Tujuan penelitian, yaitu mendeskripsikan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi penerapanmedia film strip dalam meningkatkan keterampilan membaca  pemahaman teks cerita murid kelas III SDN 174 Sukadamai Kecamatan Sukamaju Kabupaten Luwu Utara.Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (classroom action research).Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di kelas III Tahun Pelajaran 2011/2012. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah pedoman observasi, tes, dan alat perekam. Teknik analisis data penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Perencanaan penerapan film strip dalam meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman teks cerita pada murid kelas IIISDN 174 Sukadamai Kecamatan Sukamaju Kabupaten Luwu Utara disusun secara terintegrasi dan kompleksitas sesuai dengan sistematika perencanaan pembelajaran. Namun, pada siklus I, perencanaan belum disusun secara lengkap dengan tidak tercantumnya metode yang dapat menunjang pelaksanaan media film strip. Hal ini telah diperbaiki pada siklus II sehingga keterampilan membaca murid mengalami peningkatan. (2) Pelaksanaan penerapan film strip dalam meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman teks cerita pada murid kelas IIISDN 174 Sukadamai Kecamatan Sukamaju Kabupaten Luwu Utara siklus I belum terlaksana dengan baik. Guru belum menerapkan media film strip sesuai dengan prosedurnya sehingga  proses pembelajaran membaca belum maksimal. Pada siklus II, pelaksanaan film strip sudah sesuai dengan prosedurnya dan dapat diterapkan oleh guru dengan baik tanpa kendala yang signifikan. Hal ini berkontriubusi terhadap peningkatan keaktifan murid dalam membaca. (3) Hasil belajar murid dalam pembelajaran membaca dengan menggunakan film, strip dengan bantuan media Audio-Visual melalui Komputer dan LCD meningkat.  Hal ini tampak pada hasil yang diperoleh setiap siklus. Keterampilan membaca siklus 1 mencapai 66,33%, dan meningkat pada siklus 2 yang mencapai 80,83%.Kata Kunci: media film strip, keterampilan, membaca, cerita Abstract The purpose of the study were described the planning , implementation , and evaluation of penerapanmedia film strips in improving the reading comprehension skills of story text SDN 174 third graders Sukadamai District of Sukamaju Luwu Utara. The approach used in this study was a qualitative approach. This research was action research (classroom action research) . Research was conducted in Class III Academic Year 2011/2012 . The instruments used were observation , testing , and recording devices . The technique of data analysis was descriptive qualitative research . The results showed that ( 1 ) Planning application film strips in improving reading comprehension skills in the story text grader IIISDN 174 Sukadamai Sukamaju District of North Luwu arranged in accordance with the complexity of an integrated and systematic learning plan . However , in the first cycle , the planning had not been fully compiled with no inclusion of methods that can support the implementation of the medium of film strips . This had been corrected in the second cycle so that the reading skills of students had increased. ( 2 ) The application of film strips in improving the reading comprehension skills of story text at 174 Sukadamai IIISDN grader Sukamaju District of North Luwu cycle I had not done well . Teachers had not applied a strip of film media in accordance with the procedure so that the process of learning to read was not maximized . In the second cycle , the implementation of the film strips were in accordance with the procedure and can be applied by teachers as well without significant obstacles . This berkontriubusi to increased activity of students in reading . ( 3 ) The results of student learning in learning to read by using a film strip with the help of Audio-Visual media through the computer and the LCD increases . This was evident in the results obtained by each cycle . Skills reading cycle 1 reached 66.33 % , and the increase in cycle 2 which reached 80.83 % .Keywords : media film strips , skills , reading , story

English teachers who teach reading comprehension course surely often give their students reading assignments, for example reading articles, popular press books and/or internet publications. Unfortunately, the results were not satisfying and made English teachers disappointed. This lack of good reading comprehension skills is exacerbated by the central role of reading comprehension required for the success in higher education. One solution to overcome this problem of poor reading comprehension skills is the explicit teaching of reading comprehension strategies to students, specifically, reciprocal teaching (RT). The philosophical root of RT itself is social constructivism which explains how students might acquire knowledge and learn; then, this concept is accumulated with the use of RT strategy to teach reading comprehension course at school. All are clearly discussed, so that the RT could be an alternative reading comprehension strategic choice for all English teachers to teach reading comprehension course at Polytechnic.   Keywords: Social constructivism, reciprocal teaching, learning evaluation.

There are still some problems in Science Education at Primary School. Some school still facing with lack of teacher ability and missperception to imply the tematic approach in lower class. Teaching learning process in Primary School should be attractive by implementing tematic approach. This paper discuss the role of attractive learning, tematic approach, and classroom action research to improve the quality of teaching learning process in lower class Primary School.

The purpose of this study was to describe the improvement in reading comprehension results using CIRC type cooperative learning in class V SDN 04 Padang Ganting. This study uses a qualitative approach to the classroom action research design. The design of this research includes (1) preliminary studies, preparation of action plans, (2) research implementation activities consisting of the stages of implementing actions, observations and reflection stages. This action research was carried out in two cycles. The researcher acts as a presenter / practitioner in the learning process, while the observer is a colleague on duty at the research site. The results showed that the use of the CIRC type cooperative approach in learning to read comprehension was effective for improving reading comprehension skills. This can be seen from the value of students obtained from the first cycle which is an average student score of 7.09, while in the second cycle the average value of students is 8.55. From the results of this study it can be concluded that learning to read comprehension by using a CIRC type cooperative approach can improve student learning outcomes.

The hyper-scan method is one way that instructors employ to help students in class XI improve their reading comprehension. Indeed, many students struggle with reading comprehension. This is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) research comprising two cycles of 4 stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection.  was used to analyze the test data. The result shows the average pre-cycle score was 63.83, the first cycle score was 73.77, and the second cycle score was 84.33. According to the percentage of students who qualify, there has traditionally been an increase. The percentage of completion in pre-cycle tests ranged from 10% to 46.6 percent in the first cycle and up to 90% in the second cycle. As a result, it can be concluded that the hyper-scan method can assist in reading comprehension skills development
