Emotion regulation (ER) plays a vital role in individuals’ well-being and successful functioning. In this study, we attempted to develop a computerized adaptive testing (CAT) to efficiently evaluate ER, namely the CAT-ER. The initial CAT-ER item bank comprised 154 items from six commonly used ER scales, which were completed by 887 participants recruited in China. We conducted unidimensionality testing, item response theory (IRT) model comparison and selection, and IRT item analysis including local independence, item fit, differential item functioning, and item discrimination. Sixty-three items with good psychometric properties were retained in the final CAT-ER. Then, two CAT simulation studies were implemented to assess the CAT-ER, which revealed that the CAT-ER developed in this study performed reasonably well, considering that it greatly lessened the test items and time without losing measurement accuracy.

Abstract This study aims to develop a draft of Javanese politeness tools in a formal situation. This research uses research and development approach (R & D) in the form of measuring tools politeness of Javanese in accordance with the type of speech acts. Research subjects in this first year include the Javanese language educators both in junior high and high school level, as well as in universities that are predicted to have used the Java language as a means of polite communication. The research location is Yogyakarta. Data collection is done by survey-questionnaire, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was done by qualitative and quantitative descriptive technique. Qualitative analysis is used to describe the type of speech acts in Javanese language and aspects in the measuring tool of politeness of speech acts, quantitative to know the scale of politeness. Based on the type of speech acts contained in the process of communication in the language of Javanese learning process can be divided into five types of speechless, namely: assertive speech acts, expressive, directive, declarative and commissive. Commissive speech acts are unproductive speech acts. A speech can be categorized into a very polite speech, polite, somewhat polite, or polite speech. The level of decency of a speech is determined by various factors that contain the maxim of politeness or not, in accordance with not the level of speech, the presence or absence of the appropriate kinesik, the tone of the appropriate voice, ready yourself, the purpose of the conversation, conformity with the context, whether there is a greeting, markers of politeness.

BACKGROUND There is a need for shorter-length assessments that capture patient questionnaire data while attaining high data quality without an undue response burden on patients. Computerized adaptive testing (CAT) and classification and regression tree (CART) methods have the potential to meet these needs and can offer attractive options to shorten questionnaire lengths. OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to test whether CAT or CART was best suited to reduce the number of questionnaire items in multiple domains (eg, anxiety, depression, quality of life, and social support) used for a needs assessment procedure (NAP) within the field of cardiac rehabilitation (CR) without the loss of data quality. METHODS NAP data of 2837 CR patients from a multicenter Cardiac Rehabilitation Decision Support System (CARDSS) Web-based program was used. Patients used a Web-based portal, MyCARDSS, to provide their data. CAT and CART were assessed based on their performances in shortening the NAP procedure and in terms of sensitivity and specificity. RESULTS With CAT and CART, an overall reduction of 36% and 72% of NAP questionnaire length, respectively, was achieved, with a mean sensitivity and specificity of 0.765 and 0.817 for CAT, 0.777 and 0.877 for classification trees, and 0.743 and 0.40 for regression trees, respectively. CONCLUSIONS Both CAT and CART can be used to shorten the questionnaires of the NAP used within the field of CR. CART, however, showed the best performance, with a twice as large overall decrease in the number of questionnaire items of the NAP compared to CAT and the highest sensitivity and specificity. To our knowledge, our study is the first to assess the differences in performance between CAT and CART for shortening questionnaire lengths. Future research should consider administering varied assessments of patients over time to monitor their progress in multiple domains. For CR professionals, CART integrated with MyCARDSS would provide a feedback loop that informs the rehabilitation progress of their patients by providing real-time patient measurements.

Training entrepreneurs is very important to equip students' skills in community life. The students' products in this aspect of handicrafts have been promoted by displaying them in glass cabinets.. Some works are sold directly by students to friends who are interested in buying handicraft products produced. Works that have long been displayed in glass cabinets are usually discarded and replaced by students' work the following year. This is unfortunate because there is no media promotion of students' handicrafts, the purpose of this research is to develop web-based promotional media to promote students' pre-work handicrafts. The method used in this research is by kuantitativ research and development approach. The instrument used kuesioane with a scale of five options liker. Involving 60 participants in product trials divided into two groups, three expert teams for product validation and 57 participants for product trials. The results of the study based on the validation team that the media is feasible to be used as a means of promotion of student handicraft products, while the results of the trial that web-based media is effective to promote the results of student pre-work handicrafts. Kesimpulnya that the products produced can be used as a means of conveying information to the wider community both nationally and globally indefinitely. The implication of this study is to facilitate marketing regardless of the level of the economy in all directions.

A new approach to computerized adaptive testing is presented on the basis of discrete-state discrete-time Markov processes. This approach is based on an extension of the G. Rasch model used in the Item Response Theory (IRT) and has decisive advantages over the adaptive IRT testing. This approach has a number of competitive advantages: takes into account all the observed history of performing test items that includes the distribution of successful and unsuccessful item solutions; incorporates time spent on performing test items; forecasts results in the future behavior of the subjects; allows for self-learning and changing subject abilities during a testing procedure; contains easily available model identification procedure based on simply accessible observation data. Markov processes and the adaptive transitions between the items remain hidden for the subjects who have access to the items only and do not know all the intrinsic mathematical details of a testing procedure. The developed model of adaptive testing is easily generalized for the case of polytomous items and multidimensional items and model structures.

AbstractThis article aimed at developing an adaptive version of the subjective well-being (SWB) scale to measure a comprehensive concept of SWB among Chinese university students. Item response theory was employed to formulate the item bank of the SWB scale and computerized adaptive testing (CAT) for SWB (CAT-SWB), based on several commonly used SWB scales, after unidimensionality testing, model selection, local dependence testing, parameter estimation, item fit test and differential item functioning (DIF) analysis were performed. Finally, two CAT simulations using simulated-data and real-data were carried out to verify and evaluate the CAT-SWB. Results indicated that the proposed CAT-SWB had an excellent performance in that it largely reduces the number of test items and the length of test time without losing measurement precision.
