The learning process in madrasas (Islamic-based elementary schools) is seen as being able to contribute to instilling values and norms in students following Islamic teachings. The issue of organizational culture and teacher performance also becomes a determining factor in creating a quality learning process. In this research, the aim is to determine: 1) the effect of organizational culture on the quality of the learn-ing process; 2) the effect of teacher performance on the quality of the learning process; and 3) the influ-ence of organizational culture on teacher performance. Respondents in this study were all class teachers from three madrasas as a sample representing all public madrasas in the city of Bandar Lampung, Indo-nesia. The results obtained indicate that the variables of organizational culture and the quality of the learning process have an influence, with R squared of 0.67 or 67%, which is classified as moderate. This shows that madrassas have implemented predetermined work culture values, namely: a) integrity, the harmony between correct thoughts, words, and deeds; b) professionalism, working in a disciplined, competent, and timely manner with the best results; c) innovation, perfecting existing and creating new and improved techniques and ideas; d) responsibility, working thoroughly and with thought for the con-sequences; and e) being exemplary, setting a good example for others.

This study replicated an earlier study conducted by Tarter and Hoy (2004) in which an open systems model was used to test a series of hypotheses that explained elements of school performance. Four internal system elements (structure, individual, culture, and politics) of the school were used to explain two sets of school outcomes (student achievement and teachers’ assessment of overall school effectiveness) in a sample of 110 Catholic elementary schools in one Northeastern city. Correlational and multiple regression analyses were used to test the relationships. The results of this study further confirmed the usefulness of this model in understanding the factors that contribute to quality in elementary schools.

This research was conducted at two different elementary schools in the City of Tasikmalaya. The LKS test was conducted by describing the changes in the results of the LKS entries by grade 5 students in groups at two different elementary schools in the city of Tasikmalaya, West Java. The resulting design is a LKS that is based on the STEM learning stages and the revision LKS is based on the results of student entries in the LKS. The results of this LKS become an indication of how students can complete assignments by understanding the various commands or activities contained in the LKS in writing.

This paper aims to analyze the student dropout from a higher education course, in the city of Guarapari, Espírito Santo, Brazil, through the use of the computational tool known as data mining. The objective was to investigate the possible scenarios for the early identification of students with higher risk of dropping out by analyzing socioeconomic data from business school graduates between 2014 and 2018 with the use of information extracted from the academic system. The methodology used was the experimental research, from a quantitative approach through a comparative analysis of data resulting from the processing of computational algorithms. After the analysis, it was concluded that computational techniques can be used to help administrators to plan pedagogical and administrative actions and that the combination of socioeconomic data with school performance information, using the tool, can yield advantageous results, allowing the fight against evasion to be seen as an early and continuous practice.

Abstract The present study aims at analyzing the expectations of teachers in relation to school performance of deaf students, comparing it to hearing students, and to verify situations of school success or failure. The instruments used were: a questionnaire, scores in Portuguese and in Mathematics, an analysis of the academic production and field journals. Sixteen teachers of deaf students of public (state and municipal) and private schools in the city of São José dos Campos/SP participated in the study. The teachers evaluated 32 pupils, being 16 deaf and 16 hearing. Concerning the deaf students, one verified that they presented an inferior academic performance when compared to the hearing ones. The scores achieved by deaf students, in the two disciplines considered in the study, were inferior to the ones achieved by hearing students. In relation to the academic production and notations on the field journal, one verified that there was a difference between these pupils, being that the deaf students had presented more difficulties than the hearing students to carry through academic activities. These results point out that the expectations of teachers in relation to the academic performance of these pupils are compatible, i.e, deaf pupils had really presented an inferior academic performance when compared to the hearing students. There are innumerable educational implications from this result, as much as it relates to teachers' formation, as to their teaching methods and to the repercussions in the development, learning and motivation of the students. In order not to negatively intervene with the academic performance of deaf students, it is necessary to adequately prepare teachers. Keywords: inclusion; deaf students; school performance and expectation.

Formalin is a solution which made from 37% formaldehyde in water which is commonly used as preservative for cosmetic products and various types of non-food industrial materials. The use of formalin as a preservative in food is very dangerous for health. The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of formalin found in skewered meatballs circulating in several elementary schools in the city of Manado. Sampling was done in Malalayang Elementary School (A), State Elementary School 6 Manado (B), State Elementary School 9 Manado (C) and State Elementary School 29 Manado (D). In a qualitative test, Nash reagents were used to determine the presence of formalin in the sample. Nash reagent was used to indicate the presence of Formalin content in a sample marked with a change in color to yellow.
