In a period when the Iberian sardine stock abundance is at its historical minimum, knowledge of the sardine juvenile’s distribution is crucial for the development of fishery management strategies. Generalized additive models were used to relate juvenile sardine presence with geographical variables and spawning grounds (egg abundance) and to model juvenile abundance with the concurrent environmental conditions. Three core areas of juvenile distribution were identified: the Northern Portuguese shelf (centred off Aveiro), the coastal region in the vicinity of the Tagus estuary, and the eastern Gulf of Cadiz. Spatial differences in the relationship between juvenile presence and egg abundances suggest that essential juvenile habitat might partially differ from the prevailing spawning grounds. Models also depicted significant relationships between juvenile abundance, temperature and geographical variables in combination with salinity in the west and with zooplankton in the south. Results indicate that the sardine juvenile distribution along the Iberian Peninsula waters are an outcome of a combination of dynamic processes occurring early in life, such as egg and larva retention, reduced mortality and favourable feeding grounds for both larvae and juveniles.

Abstract Intractable long-term or chronic refugee communities present serious challenges to common refugee-management strategies. We argue that they are best understood and managed by using adaptive techniques drawn from complexity theory. To illustrate this strategy, we use the refugee communities situated along the Thai–Myanmar border as a case study. The article outlines the key elements of complexity theory, the complexity lens, for use in analysis of the problem. It then applies the complexity lens to the case study: identifying and describing the actors and networks that compose the complex system of the Thai–My refugees (the complex system) and the dynamic developments within that community over time (dynamic development). Based on this analysis, the article utilizes the complexity lens to evaluate the policy options commonly offered for the management of this ongoing refugee situation.

Abstract When a tract of land is used to produce timber by planting and clearcutting plantations of single species, the expected financial return will depend on the choice of species, planting density, and harvest age, as well as establishment and interest costs. An analytical procedure which will aid in these decisions, rather than provide an explicit optimum solution, is demonstrated for old-field slash pine plantations in the coastal region of Georgia.

This study aimed to describe the potential and opportunities of Tourism Region Pulisan, identify any weaknesses and threats, and define management strategies of Pulisan Coastal Region. This research used descriptive method to interpret the data. This research was conducted at the Village of Pulisan, East Likupang Sub-district, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province which began in March to August 2016. The sampling technique used purposive sampling and used Theory of Tourism System. Respondents in this study is the government of North Minahasa Regency. The data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. This study uses a model of SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) factors predefined both from the view of experts as well as existing regulation. Then analyze the internal and external factors that are arranged in a matrix of IFAs (Internal Factor Analysis) and EFAS (External Factor Analysis). Research using SWOT analysis weights and scores are determined based on the analysis of data obtained from the respondents. The results showed that the tourism area is Pulisan Tourism Regions with high natural potential and much in demand by tourists. Although the location is not too wide but has many interesting attractions Tourism Region of Pulisan natural appeal to different types of travelers with different motivations. Development undertaken by the community with the coaching is done by the Department of Tourism and Culture of North Minahasa provide a change of design in terms of tourist facilities. This paper presents strategies for increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the school-based speech-language pathologist. Various time management strategies are adapted and outlined for three major areas of concern: using time, organizing the work area, and managing paper work. It is suggested that the use of such methods will aid the speech-language pathologist in coping with federal, state, and local regulations while continuing to provide quality therapeutic services.

Background The aim of this study was to determine the clinical efficacy of combining self-management strategies and a social thinking approach to address the social performance and executive function of an adolescent female with autism spectrum disorder. Method This research examined the effects of a social knowledge training program, “Think Social,” as well as strategies to improve higher order cognitive abilities. Results and Conclusion Although quantitative improvement was not found, several qualitative gains in behavior were noted for the participants of this study, suggesting a benefit from using structured environmental cues of self-management strategies, as well as improved social understanding through social cognitive training.

The effectiveness of amplification for infants and children can be mediated by how much the child uses the device. Existing research suggests that establishing hearing aid use can be challenging. A wide range of factors can influence hearing aid use in children, including the child's age, degree of hearing loss, and socioeconomic status. Audiological interventions, including using validated prescriptive approaches and verification, performing on-going training and orientation, and communicating with caregivers about hearing aid use can also increase hearing aid use by infants and children. Case examples are used to highlight the factors that influence hearing aid use. Potential management strategies and future research needs are also discussed.
