This paper presents the study of an open switch fault tolerant control of a grid-connected photovoltaic system. The studied system is based on the classical DC–DC boost converter and a bidirectional 6-pulse DC–AC converter. The objective is to provide an open-switch fault detection method and fault-tolerant control for both of boost converter and grid-side converter (GSC) in a grid-connected photovoltaic system. A fast fault detection method and a reliable fault-tolerant topology are required to ensure continuity of service, and achieve a faster corrective maintenance. In this work, the mean value of the error voltages is used as fault indicator for the GSC, while, for the boost converter the inductor current form is used as fault indicator. The fault-tolerant topology was achieved by adding one redundant switch to the boost converter, and by adding one redundant leg to the GSC. The results of the fault tolerant control are presented and discussed to validate the proposed approach under different scenarios and different solar irradiances.

The performance status of a grid-connected photovoltaic (GCPV) system is denoted by performance indices, namely performance ratio, capacity factor, and even through power acceptance ratio (AR), as documented in Malaysia Standard (MS) procedures for acceptance test of GCPV testing and commissioning (TNC). Even though AR analysis can be either on the DC or AC side, the MS TNC procedures implemented analysis on the AC side. Therefore, the question arises whether there is any significant difference when using AC AR analysis compared to DC AR analysis in evaluating the system performance. Thus, this paper evaluates the differences between applying DC AR analysis and AC AR analysis in accessing the performance of the ten kWp GCPV system in Malaysia. The AR analytical analysis employed the 2019 one-year historical data of solar irradiance, module temperature, DC power, and AC power. The results demonstrated that the monthly AC AR were consistently lower than DC AR with a percentage difference of approximately 3%. The percentage discrepancy was due to the variation of actual inverter efficiencies compared to the declared constant value by the manufacturer used in the AR prediction model. These findings have verified a significant difference between DC AR analysis and AC AR analysis. Most importantly, this study has highlighted the significance of AC AR analysis compared to DC AR analysis as a tool to evaluate GCPV system performance because AC AR has taken an additional factor into consideration, which is the inverter efficiency variation.

The financial statements serve as a benchmark in assessing the financial performance of the company as the basis for making business decisions. The motivation in conducting this research is to support previous research to see the development condition of one of the oil palm plantation companies. The purpose of this study is to assess the financial performance by using financial ratio analysis and horizontal analysis. The method used in this research is Quantitative Descriptive with analysis design using Term series Analysis. The result of the research based on financial ratio analysis shows the liquidity ratio and solvency ratio in good condition, while the activity ratio and profitability ratio are not good because it is below the industry average of similar companies. Based on horizontal analysis, financial performance fluctuated and influenced internal and external factors such as operational performance and the average price of world palm oil. The limitations of this study are using only two analytical tools and financial statements analyzed only the balance sheet and income statement.
