Introduction. Metaplastic breast carcinoma is expressing epithelial and/or mesenchymal tissue within the same tumor. Aim. The aim of this study is to evaluate metaplastic breast carcinoma in a case report and literature review. Description of the case. The presented case desribes metaplastic carcinoma of the breast in 65 years old female patient. Conclusion. Fibromatosis-cell metaplastic carcinoma of the breast presents a particularly large diagnostic challenge. Malignant variants of this disease have been described in the literature.

Abstract Nodular hidradenoma is an uncommon cutaneous adnexal tumor arising from sweat glands. In the skin, it usually presents as a solitary dermal nodule; excision is curative in most cases. In rare instances, it may present as a breast mass and can mimic breast carcinoma clinically and radiologically, causing diagnostic dilemmas for the treating physician and pathologist. Herein, we discuss a case of nodular hidradenoma in a 20-year-old Hispanic woman as a rapidly growing mass in the breast that mimicked breast carcinoma. We discuss the rare presentation of this uncommon tumor and the differential diagnosis of this entity, as well as the results of our literature review on the topic.

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a benign neoplasm of intermediate biologic potential. It rarely occurs in the larynx, and it has not been previously reported in the epiglottis. We treated a 66-year-old woman who presented with progressive dysphonia and a mass on her suprahyoid epiglottis. The tumor was completely excised with a CO2 laser; no adjuvant therapy was administered. Histopathology revealed that the mass was an IMT. No evidence of recurrence was noted after 6 months of follow-up. We present what we believe is the first case of an epiglottic IMT to be reported in the literature, and we propose CO2 laser excision without adjuvant therapy as an acceptable treatment.

ABSTRACT CONTEXT: The breast cancer is the 2nd most common neoplasia among women in Brasil and around the world. This disease, relatively rare before the age of 35 years, has highly heterogeneous characteristics, especific pathology and distinct biological behavior. Among the subtypes, the Metaplastic Breast Carcinoma has an incidence of only 0,2-5% between the breast cancer cases. The purpose of this study is to report, from a comparison and literature review, the case of a patient with Metaplastic Breast Carcinoma, below 40 yers old, due to the rarity of the histological type and its aggressive behavior. EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: The patient, inicially 28 years old presented the Atipic Papilloma and 2 years later developed the Metaplastic Breast Carcinoma, in adittion to multiple metastatic pulmonary nodes, common of the type, and hepatic. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: It should be noted that it is difficult to draw definitive conclusions about the prognosis and treatment of these lesions, since they are very infrequent in most of the series of published cases. Keywords: Metaplastic Breast Carcinoma, Breast Carcinoma, Malign Breast Neoplasia, Breast Cancer.
