The objective was to investigate the affection in the bond mother and daughter victims of sexual abuse, understanding the affective logics of conduct, and to investigate transgenerational issues and mental health. Three families from an assistance program to victims of sexual abuse participated in this study conducted by means of home visits, semi-structured interviews with parents, genograms for viewing the families’ life cycle. The analysis of the results used the constructive-interpretative method of González Rey, resulting in four areas of meaning which revealed: 1) transgenerational abuse issues in learning about protection, 2) development of links patterns, 3) affective logics of conduct built on the experiences of the roles and 4) aggressiveness as a interpersonal bond pattern in victims of violence. We perceived the the importance of welcoming families with their pains, opening a safe space to identify and express themselves, trying to break patterns transgenerational lack of protection, avoiding revictimization, and trying to promote family mental health.

The literature on sexual abuse indicates low rates of inquiry by mental health professionals. This study explores early career psychologists’ experiences of inquiry into their clients’ sexual abuse histories. Twelve Australian psychologists participated in semi-structured interviews with transcripts analyzed using thematic analysis. The vast majority of participants reported that they did not routinely inquire about sexual abuse with barriers including not knowing what to do, discomfort, stigma, and fear of negative outcomes. Participants asserted that their university training in sexual abuse inquiry was inadequate. Findings emphasize the need for the development of an evidence-based framework for sexual abuse training.

Abstract Juvenile prostitution has been characterized alternatively as an expression of delinquency based on opportunity, and, as a form of pathological work chosen by adolescent victims of sexual abuse. Analysis of the trends in arrests for solicting in Canada suggest that the majority of persons arrested for soliciting are not juveniles. In addition, estimates of abuse in the background of prostitutes are extremely inconsistent. Questions are raised both about the relevance of the pathological model and the utility of treating soliciting as a crime.

This study focuses on suicidal ideation in victims of sexual abuse. Drawing upon semi-structured interviews of thirty victims of sexual abuse in Khyber Pukhtunkhwah, Pakistan, this paper discusses the theme, i.e. domestic violence, including indiscriminate sexual abuse and the abhorring crime of incest, which remains hidden due to aggressively upheld patriarchal norms of women exploitation. The interviews conducted at six different locations, present women's narratives of their untold plight for the first time. The findings of this research show that among the respondents, only those women had strong suicidal ideations who were the victims of incest. Irritation, aggression and self-deprecating behaviour were strong symptoms of their suicidal temptations. Pain, physical and emotional, caused by overwhelming stress in the form of familial and social hatred, social disconnectedness, burdensomeness and the previous history of violence were the main factors that highly escalated their risk factor in committing suicide

Summary The present study addresses the situation of children and adolescents victims of sexual abuse, in the community of Caño El Sapote, municipality of Waslala, 2012. The focus of this research was on ways in which Christian congregations can address the concept of forgiveness when caring for victims of sexual abuse, and to make suggestions for a restitution mass as a possible way for congregations to work with these victims. Interviews with seven women and one man, who were victims of sexual abuse, were analyzed according to inductive thematic analysis. Our focus was on abuse that had occurred outside Church, i.e., not perpetrated by representatives for the Church. The informants described how attending services in Church could trigger their memories of sexual abuse, and they struggled to understand the concept of forgiveness; who they were to forgive and what made their forgiveness good enough. They expressed a need for the Church to offer them a safe space, rituals where their experiences would be acknowledged, and to meet with other victims of sexual abuse. We argue that representatives for the Church need to acquire knowledge about sexual abuse and its consequences before offering care. Further, the presence of victims of sexual abuse in a congregation demands that the congregation create appropriate conditions where the victim’s needs and concerns are put into focus. Addressing forgiveness and offering rituals must be done in such a way that it does not consolidate the victim’s feelings of exclusion, guilt, and shame.
