Integrated nutrient management in Oat (Avena sativa L.)under reclaimed sodic soil

Oat (Avena sativa L.) is used as a green fodder, straw, hay or silage. A field experiment was carried out during 2008-2009 with the concept of integrated nutrient management at Aurawan Research Centre of CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow. The treatments of the experiments were T1- Control, T2- NPK (80:40:40 kg ha-1), T3- ½ NPK (40:20:20 kg ha-1) + FYM (10 t ha-1), T4- ½ NPK + FYM (10 t ha-1) + Trichoderma, T5- ½ NPK + FYM (10 t ha-1) + PSB and T6- ½ NPK + FYM (10 t ha-1) + Trichoderma + PSB with 4 replications in randomized block design (RBD). Results indicated that all the treatment showed significant response over control. Maximum plant height at 120 days (157.7 cm), tillersplant-1 at 90 days (6.4), length of spike (38.7 cm), test weight (28.6 g), grain yield (34.9 q ha-1), straw yield (82.8 q ha-1) were recorded with T2- NPK (80:40:40 kg ha-1) which was significantly higher than all the treatments except T3- ½ NPK (40:20:20 kg ha-1) + FYM (10 t ha-1) and T4- ½ NPK + FYM (10 t ha-1) + Trichoderma, followed by treatment T6- ½ NPK + FYM (10 t ha-1) + Trichoderma + PSB showing the value of plant height at 120 days (154.8 cm), tillers/plant at 90 days (6.3), length of spike (37.6 cm), test weight (28.3 g), grain yield (33.1 q ha-1) and straw yield (81.1 q ha-1). Seed treatment with PSB (T5) also responded significantly over control in all the parameters and remained at par with T2 and T6. However, combined seed treatment with PSB + Trichoderma (T6) was much effective in comparison to single inoculation of Trichoderma or PSB.

An agronomic investigation was conducted during Kharif season 2019 at the research farm of Banda University of Agriculture and Technology, Banda (U.P) to study the effect of Integrated Nutrient Management on soil fertility and yield of Kharif Greengram (Vigna radiata L.) in Bundelkhand region. An experiment was laid out in randomized block design replicated thrice with 10 treatments comprised with application of organic and inorganic fertilizers and their combinations. Application of Rhizobium culture @ 25 g/kg of seed along with Vermicompost @ 2.5 t ha-1; FYM @5 t ha-1and 100% RDF was found to be responsible for highest availability of nitrogen (233.90 kg ha-1), phosphorous (21.19 kg ha-1) and potassium (239.20 kg ha-1) in soil after harvest of crop. It was also resulted in higher grain yield (11.41 q ha-1), straw yield (27.45 q ha-1) as compared to other combinations and control.

An experiment was carried out in the farmer’s field of village Boira under Kotoali Thana, District-Mymensingh in Boro season (Jannuary to May 2013) to find out the effect of integrated nutrient management in Boro rice cv. BRRI dhan29 cultivation. The experiment consisted of the following treatments- control (no manure and no fertilizer) (T1), recommended dose of prilled urea and PKSZn (T2), 50% of the recommended dose of prilled urea and PKSZn + cowdung 5 t ha-1 (T3), 50% of recommended dose of prilled urea and PKSZn + poultry manure 2.5 t ha-1(T4), 50% of recommended dose of prilled urea and PKSZn + cowdung 10 t ha-1 (T5), 50% of recommended dose of prilled urea and PKSZn + poultry manure 5 t ha-1 (T6), cowdung 10 t ha-1 (T7), poultry manure 5 t ha-1 (T8), full dose of USG (2.7g) + recommended dose of PKSZn (T9), full dose of USG (2.7g) + cowdung 10 t ha-1 (T10), full dose of USG (2.7g) + poultry manure 5 t ha-1 (T11), full dose of USG (2.7g) + cowdung 5 t ha-1 (T12), full dose of USG (2.7g) + poultry manure 2.5 t ha-1(T13), USG (1.8g) + poultry manure 5 t ha-1 (T14), USG (1.8g) + poultry manure 2.5 t ha-1 (T15) and farmer’s practice (Urea 250 kg ha-1, TSP 220 kg ha-1, MoP 130 kg ha-1, gypsum 130 kg ha-1) (T16). The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Results of the experiment showed that integrated nutrient management had significant effect on yield contributing characters and yield of BRRI dhan29. The tallest plant (93.33 cm) was found in T2 treatment (recommended dose of prilled urea and PKSZn), the highest number of total tillers hill-1(16.85) and effective tillers hill-1 (15.90) were obtained in T11 treatment (USG (2.7g) + poultry manure 5 t ha-1). The highest 1000-grain weight (22.40g), grain yield (7.19 t ha-1) and straw yield (8.08 t ha-1) were recorded in T10 treatment (full dose of USG (2.7g) + cowdung 10 t ha-1) and the lowest grain yield (4.43 t ha-1) and straw yield (5.21 t ha-1) were obtained in T7 treatment (cowdung 10 t ha-1). From the study, it can be concluded that inorganic fertilizer along with manure greatly influence the yield contributing characters and yield of Boro rice and full dose of USG (2.7g) with cowdung (10 t ha-1) appears as the promising combination for Boro rice (cv. To evaluate the effect of Zinc fertilizer on performance of wheat cv. BARI gom30, an experiment was carried out at Agronomy Field Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, from November 2015 to March 2016. The experiment comprised four levels of Zinc (Zn) viz., 0, 1.5, 2 and 2.5 kg/ha. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Application of Zinc (Zn) plant height, number of total tillers/plant, number of effective tillers/plant, spike length, number of fertile spikelets/spike numbers of sterile spikelets/spike number of grains/ spike, grain yield and straw yield were found significant. But there was no significant effect of the treatment on 1000-grain weight. The highest number of total tiller/plant (4.42), number of effective tillers/plant (3.92), number of grains/spike (47.70), 1000-grain weight (47.73 g), grain yield (5.06 t/ha), straw yield (6.21 t/ha) was obtained from 2 kg Zn/ha. The highest plant height (94.08 cm), spike length (9.92 cm), number of fertile spikelets/spike (19.59) and sterile spikelets/spike (3.22) and harvest index (46.16%) were recorded at 0 kg Zn/ha respectively. The control treatment indicated the lowest value for the yield attributing characters except the number of sterile spikelets/spike. Grain yield was found to be significantly and positively correlated with number of grains/spike and straw yield. It is recommended that application of 2 kg Zn/ha is the best for maximum yield of BARI gom30.

A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of integrated nutrient management (INM) modules on indian mustard (Brassica juncea L.) in Western U.P., variety Pusa Vijay at Crop Research Centre (CRC), Main Campus, Modipuram  Meerut, during Rabi season, 2020-21. The soil of experimental field was sandy loam texture, alkaline in nature with pH, low in organic carbon (0.42%) and available nitrogen (181.60 kg/ha), available phosphors (16.50 kg/ha), available potassium (230.47 kg/ha) and available sulphur (7.38 kg/ha). Ten treatments of different nutrient management practices consisting T1 Control, T2 100% RDN (120 kg. N/ha), T3 75% RDN, T4 75% RDN + 25% through Vermicompost (VC), T5 75% RDN + 25% through Poultry Manure (PM), T6 75% RDN + 25% through Press Mud Compost (PMC), T7 75% RDN + 25% through [ VC , PM (1:1) ], T8 75% RDN + 25% through [VC, PMC (1:1) ], T9 75% RDN + 25% through [PM , PMC (1:1)], T10 75% RDN + 25% through [VC , PM, PMC (1:1:1)] were tested in randomized block design with three replications. The experimental results revealed that yield attributes (siliqua length, siliqua plant-1, seeds siliqua-1 and test weight), grain and stover yield (q ha-1). The increment in seed yield with application of 75% RDN + 25% through [VC, PM, PMC (1:1:1)] was 130.98 % over control. The maximum gross return and net return were recorded with the application of 75% RDN + 25% through [VC, PM, PMC (1:1:1)], however B:C ratio was lower than the use of RDF only but in application of  vermicompost, press mud compost and poultry manure enhance soil fertility which improve the productivity and productivity of mustard.

This study was carried out at Subarna Agro-Based Initiative’s (SABI) field, Noakhali, Bangladesh during the period of Rabi Season, 2018. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the growth and yield performances of okra in different types of organic fertilizers and to identify the possible fertilizer treatment which enhances both growth and yield of okra [Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Monech] .BARI Okra-1 was taken for the study. A Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) was used and there were 4 treatments namely; Farm Yard Manure (T1), Vermi-Compost (T2), FYM + Vermi-Compost (T3) and Integrated Nutrient Management (T4) were replicated three times. Plant height (cm), number of leaves, total flower, total number of fruits, fruit length (cm) and fruit weight (g) data were taken as parameters on the growth and yield of the plant. Though fruit weight was observed higher for the effect of T3 (72.78 g) but in case of Integrated Nutrient Management (T4) the other characters such as plant height, number of leaves, total flowers, total number of fruits, fruit length were observed higher. The T4 showed a comparatively better result of growth and yield than other treatments. This study clearly indicated that Integrated Nutrient Management which contains the micronutrients with minimum inorganic and organic manure may be a potential source for better growth and high yield in okra.

An experiment was conducted during Rabi season (November-December) of 2018–19 to study the effect of three dates of sowing (26th November, 11th December and 25th December) on growth, yield attributes and yield of fivewheat varieties (HD-2967, HD-3086, WH-1105, PBW-343 and PBW-226) at Agricultural Research Farm of IFTM University, Moradabad (UP) India. The experiment was laid out in Factorial Randomized Design with two replications. Sowing was done at spacing of 22.5 cm in sandy loam soil. The observations were recorded on growth, flowering, maturity, yield and yield components. Analysis of variance showed the significant variations were observed for the characters viz. plant height, days to flowering, spikes per plant, days to maturity, grain yield, test weight, straw yield, biological yield and harvest index due to changing dates of sowing. However, varietal variations were recorded for plant height, days to flowering, spikes per plant, days to maturity and test weight. Wheat sown on 26th November recorded significant increase in plant height, tillers plant-1, spikes-1 plant, grain yield and straw yield over late sowing on 11th December and 25th December. There was no significant variation among varieties for yield and yield contributing traits such as grains spike-1, grain and straw yield. Significant interaction effects between dates of sowing and varieties were found for days to flowering which showed that the variety HD-2967 is as best wheat variety for early sown and PBW-226 for late sown conditions in order to obtain better returns.

A field experiment was conducted at Rice Research Unit, Bapatla during Kharif, 2013 to observe the performance of hybrids under Krishna Western Delta. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with four replications. The treatments are 5 rice hybrids like DRRH2, DRRH3, KRH2, PA6201 and CRHR32. The results of study revealed that the hybrids exhibited superiority in respect of different growth parameters like plant height, number of tillers per hill, panicle length grain yield and straw yield. Among various tested rice hybrids, maximum grain yield (6408 kg/ha) and straw yield (7178 kg/ha) were recorded in PA6201 which might be due to better growth parameters and yield components of hybrids.

A field experiment was conducted at the Agricultural College farm, Bapatla, during kharif and rabi 2017-18 and 2018-19. The experiment was conducted with variety BPT-5204 in a randomized block design with ten treatments and three replications. The maximum Number of panicles m-2, total filled grains panicle-1, test weight, grain yield, straw yield, harvest Index and return per rupee investment were recorded with soil test based fertilizer recommendation with 10 t ha-1 FYM application which was at par with soil test based fertilizer recommendation alone and 7.5 t ha-1 targeted yield recommendation along with FYM (T5 and T10) and RDF with FYM (T6). Grain yield of rice was significantly higher with soil test based fertilizer recommendation with 10 t ha-1 FYM application which was statistically at par with soil test based fertilizer recommendation alone (T2) and 7.5 t ha-1 targeted yield fertilizer recommendation with FYM (T10) compared to the rest of the treatments.

Tegra practice (healthy seedling, mechanical transplanting, herbicide application and advisory services), as a new concept in commercial rice cultivation, needs to be evaluated with farmer’s practices in our country. This study was conducted in the farmers’ field during Aman 2013 and Boro 2013-14 seasons in Bogra district. In each season, six farmers within one kilometer radius were selected to conduct this study. Randomized complete block design (RCBD) with two treatments namely farmer’s practices (FP) and Tegra practices (TP) were used in the experiment. Self-propelled four rows walking-type rice transplanter was used to transplant seedling in TP. Seedlings were raised in plastic tray to use in mechanical transplanter. The mat seedlings were ready to transplant when attained 3-4 leaves and 10-12 cm height. Mechanical transplanting found faster than manual transplanting. Missing/floating hill observed insignificant in mechanically transplanted field. Fuel consumption of mechanical transplanter obtained 4.5 L/ha. Tender aged seedling was used in TP and seedling age was higher in FP than TP. Plant height followed the similar trend in both the practices. Tillering ability obtained the highest in TP than FP. TP produced significantly higher (14-23%) grain yield in both seasons. The total cost of production, gross return, gross margin and BCR obtained the highest in TP. BCR showed 5-13% higher in TP than FP in both the seasons due to higher grain and straw yield. The present experiment was conducted at Barrister Thakur Chhedilal College of Agriculture and Research Station, Bilaspur, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur (C.G.) during Kharif season 2020-21. Entitled with “ Response of Nano N, Zn and Cu application on growth and yield of scented rice” including nano fertilizer nutrients with recommended dose of fertilizer 60:40:30 NPK kg ha-1. The experiment was presented in Randomized Block Design with three replication . The treatments was consisted of eigth treatments viz., Result revealed that treatment T8 (100 % PK + 50% N + 2 spray of nano N + Cu + Zn @ 4 + 2 + 2 ml liter-1 of water at 25 and 50 DAP), resulted the highest plant height, number of effective tillers at harvest , number of tillers per meter length at harvest, grain yield (32.83 qha-1), straw yield (66.51 q ha-1). Which was significantly superior over other treatments but was at par with T6 (100% PK + 50% N + 2 spray of nano N + Zn @ 4 + 2 ml liter-1 of water at 25 and 50 DAP ) with (28.91 qha-1) grain yield closely followed by the treatment T7, T5,T3.
