As reflexões visam contribuir no gerenciamento de tecnologias da informação e comunicação em bibliotecas. Apresenta conceitos e características sobre gestão de processos nas organizações com a finalidade de proporcionar uma visão da importância dos processos, do gerenciamento de processos, da gestão da informação, dos serviços e dos produtos de informação em bibliotecas. Considera os serviços e produtos de informação gerenciados por meio de novas tecnologias da informação e comunicação. Busca-se enfatizar a melhoria da qualidade contínua direcionando os esforços centrados nos usuários. As conclusões apontam para respeitar as diversidades no momento de implementar técnicas e métodos da gestão por processos nas organizações e questionamentos sobre os impactos das inovações tecnológicas na Sociedade do Conhecimento. Abstract The reflections contribute in the management of communication and information technologies at libraries. Presents concepts and characteristics of the management processes in organizations, with the purpose of give a view of the importance of processes, processes management, information management, information services and products at libraries. It considers information services and products managed by the use of new information and communication technologies to emphasize quality improvement centered in the users needs. The conclusion point to respect the diversity when implementing techniques and methods about process management at organizations.

The article considers key information and communication technologies used in the supply chains of the fashion industry. The author segmented these technologies into several groups, including selected programs that ensure effective communication between the company’s functional departments and supply chain links; software resources aimed at maintaining logistics operations, such as production, warehousing, cargo transportation; operational and strategic planning systems. The main purpose of the considered information technologies is to take into account the specific characteristics of the “fashion” business, such as a high range and a short product life cycle, the need to take into account the rapidly changing requirements of buyers of goods in the fashion industry, the geographical distribution of supply chain participants. The author performs a review of key software products and technologies that improve the efficiency of business process management in the supply chains of the fashion industry, including CAD and CAM systems, ERP systems on the example of SAP AFS, SAP Fashion Management and some other software resources and technologies.

The article discusses modern forms and methods of bibliographic activity in libraries. The role of modern information and communication technologies is explained. The information society places new demands on all social and communication institutions, including the activation of the formation of electronic document space, libraries and bibliographies. It is noted that the information society, the activation of the formation of electronic document space, puts new demands on all social and communication institutions, including libraries and bibliographies. New information technologies allow to significantly expand, deepen and diversify all forms of information and bibliographic services, which makes them faster, more efficient and more convenient. At the same time, it is explained that with the application of digital technologies, the category of information and bibliographic services is becoming a daily information service used by any reader of any library. Electronic catalogs are becoming powerful information systems to support the work of libraries and perform large-scale tasks.

The article is devoted to determining the structure of information competence of high school students. The development and application of modern information and communication technologies in all spheres of science, technology, education and industry at the present stage of integration development has influenced changes in the education system. The process of informatization of education is largely determined by the level of competence of students in the field of information and communication technologies. In this regard, teaching students who are able to use their knowledge in production with the use of new information technologies is a top priority for secondary schools. Comparing different approaches to this phenomenon, the authors try to find common elements in different classifications in order to propose a structure of information competence of high school students.

The ongoing information revolution calls for the exploitation of new information services that may set to support the traditional quality management approaches in healthcare. The developments in information and communication technologies offer new opportunities, with the need for effective information management grow ing within it. This chapter addresses the following issues: What might be an approach for quality management considering the rapid advances of information technology and the growth of the “new economy”? What might be the contribution of library and information services in the improvement of the healthcare services quality? In order to study the aforementioned questions, initially the information requirements of well known quality management approaches such as ISO 9001:2000 and EFQM are investigated and thereafter, the role of library and information services is discussed. The design of library and information services for the support of quality is an interesting and innovative area of research within healthcare services.

The article deals with the dynamic development of information and communication technologies and their impact on the education system, as well as the importance of forming an information culture of students through the use of information technologies in biology lessons. For biological science, which is constantly updated and updated information base, the use of information technologies in the educational process is becoming more rational and acceptable. In particular, the use of a virtual laboratory, an online microscope, multimedia information systems and various animations in biology classes makes the lesson interesting and useful. Thus, with the help of systematic informatization, students can be helped to study in an open education system, toform a system of thinking and independence.This article contributes to the formation of information culture in the process of teaching and training students through information and communication technologies using new information systems in biology lessons and contributes to a more detailed understanding of the problem of Informatization of education.

AbstractNew information and communication technologies are impacting the humanitarian sector in profound ways. Both crisis-affected communities and global volunteer networks are becoming increasingly digital. This means that the former are increasingly the source of relevant crisis information, while the latter are becoming more adept at managing and visualizing this information on live crisis maps. This article introduces the field of crisis mapping and provides key examples from Haiti, Russia, Libya, and Somalia to demonstrate how digitally empowered affected communities and volunteer networks are reshaping humanitarian response in the twenty-first century.

The development of the new information and communication technologies, which favored the modern societies transformation into knowledge-based society, forced a reconsideration of the governance principles based on what Abraham Lincoln said “Governance of citizens by citizens and for citizens''. The knowledge society coordinates raises new challenges for the public system, offering, at the same time, the opportunity to do activities more efficient and to development those approach that brings the citizen closer to public systems. Basically, by reconsidering and by emerging in the public system of concepts such as ethics, social responsibility and sustainable development it has been created the coordinates of oriented citizens implementation framework. Governments around the world are making significant efforts towards e-governance assimilation and implementation. These efforts are not focused only on the digitization process itself, but also target a broader reorganization of the public services process and of the participation processes based on the new information technologies. The article presents, based on a detailed analysis of the literature, different models that capture and define the relationships developed by public institutions with various categories of stakeholders.


In recent years, the Middle East’s information and communications landscape has changed dramatically. Increasingly, states, businesses, and citizens are capitalizing on the opportunities offered by new information technologies, the fast pace of digital transformations, and enhanced connectivity. These changes are far from turning Middle Eastern nations into network societies, but their impact is significant. The growing adoption of a wide variety of information technologies and new media platforms in everyday life has given rise to complex dynamics that beg for a better understanding. Digital Middle East sheds a critical light on continuing changes that are closely intertwined with the adoption of information and communication technologies in the MENA region. Drawing on case studies from throughout the Middle East, the contributors explore how these digital transformations are playing out in the social, cultural, political, and economic spheres, exposing the various disjunctions and discordances that have marked the advent of the digital Middle East.
