Level of Effectiveness for ERP System in Improving the Educational Process in Higher Education Institutions in Yemen: A Case Study of the University of Science and Technology

This study aimed to identify the level of effectiveness of the Enterprises Resource Planning (ERP) in improving the educational process in higher education institutions in Yemen. The case study was carried out in the University of Science and Technology (UST). The study adopted the analytical descriptive method, using a questionnaire, which was distributed to the whole population (90 employees), who deal with the ERP system at the university, and who were selected by the complete census method. Only 74 questionnaires were returned and were subject to statistical analysis. Major findings revealed that there was a statistically significant correlation between the dimensions of the questionnaire and the overall effectiveness of the ERP system at the university. Therefore, this result indicates that there is a high degree of effectiveness of the ERP system in improving the educational process with a high agreement score on the dimensions of the questionnaire. It was found that the highest effectiveness degree was in the dimension of admission and registration support, followed by academic support and student affairs, and the lowest degree was in the dimension of technical support. Overall, the level of application of the ERP system at the university was high. Based on these findings, it was recommended that this system should be applied so as to cover all departments that do not use the ERP system, which would lead to effective and efficient performance of such departments. In the present era of globalisation, higher-education institutions are required to focus on innovation to deal with the various challenges. Considering what Islamic higher-education institutions in Indonesia, have achieved in recent times, they face an uphill struggle to compete at the global level. This study aimed at identifying and analysing the dynamics of resilience for globalisation in a state Islamic–University in Indonesia. The results of studies on the management of Islamic tertiary institutions, specifically on organizational resilience, are very difficult to find. This study used the qualitative analysis method of a case-study and comprised in-depth interviews with key people concerned with the management of the university, observation, and secondary data namely academic documents, photos, and information from the university’s official website. The findings showed the university’s continuous efforts to improve not only the academic community’s management skills, knowledge, and expertise but also the implementation of international-curriculum standardization and cooperation with overseas universities. These actions cannot be separated from obstacles faced by university from within and without particularly in terms of funding-related policies. The university’s program-based innovations which are yet to be carried out by other Islamic-universities in Indonesia indicate this institution’s initiative to break the obstacles.

Introduction: the problem of diagnostics of the quality of education at a higher education institution is becoming increasingly relevant in the conditions of the need to fulfill the criteria for the effectiveness of higher education institutions, the introduction of new generation standards in higher education institutions and the modernization of the educational program management system. Diagnostics of the quality of education is considered as an important process that ensures a steady position of the university in the educational services market, the  growth of indicators for the admission campaign,  the increase of reputational capital. Diagnostics of the quality of education makes it possible to identify significant factors in determining the prospects for the development of a university, having a significant impact on the performance indicators of a university and characterizing the results achieved and the resources used.Materials and Methods:the article discusses the system for the quality of education evaluation at Minin University, it describes its key components, reveals the elements of the diagnostic complex and their systemic interconnection. The characteristics of the elements of the diagnostic complex describes in detail the issue of improving the efficiency of the university in terms of the implementation of the management model of the main professional educational programs, the description of the diagnostic procedure for each category of participants in the educational process is presented.Results:the author describes the methodology and the main stages of diagnosing the quality of education at the university using the example of  Minin University, gives integrated assessment criteria and their relationship with other elements of the monitoring system and evaluating the quality of education at the university, lists the effects of introducing a comprehensive system for diagnosing the quality of educational activities.Discussion and Conclusions:in the final part of the article, the possibilities of further improving the system of assessment of the quality of education in the educational system of higher education are considered. Arguments about the need to further expand the range of issues raised by the diagnostic process are made; the ratio of the existing positions of the university to the requirements of the legislation is made.

In this article, we report on four case studies of how higher education institutions have grappled with the demands of decolonisation of their curricula. In some respects, the cases differ in form and content, and the unique responses to decolonisation of each institution are described and analysed. An important similarity among the institutions was the use of extensive public lectures, seminars, and workshops as a common strategy to deal with the calls for the decolonising of curricula. The inquiry is motivated by our concern that some institutions, in an effort to comply, might resort to instrumentalist and quick-fix solutions to decolonise curricula, which result in decolonial-washing rather than substantive change. We discuss the following themes based on the data and literature: decolonial-washing; decolonising of curricula as a national project; political symbolism; and the need for complicated conversations. We also reflect on the methodology used in this study.

This chapter involves an investigation into critical success factors (CSFs) for implementing an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system into an Australian university. Existing ERP research has neglected the higher education sector (HES) worldwide and in Australia, even though a majority of Australian universities have implemented an ERP solution. Findings from the case study found that interviewees discussed 22 of the 29 factors identified from contemporary literature. Additionally, four new factors are identified, namely, competitive edge, service for students, knowledge management, and system ownership.

In light of higher education institutions (HEIs) need to implement intelligent, innovative systems for their digital strategic transformation to stay competitive, the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system can tailor solutions to such technological problems through its integration characteristic. The present study sheds light on the emergence of enablers and inhibitors, explaining technological readiness insight for ERP adoption. The study aims to understand better ERP readiness among HEIs to ease the substantial change required for the adoption process. The findings show a profound perception of ERP systems among 112 Egyptian HEIs, demonstrating that HEIs are technologically ready for adoption. Results reveal that HEIs have positive ERP readiness, although HEIs’ managers are still uncertain and expect some ERP inhibitors. Therefore, ERP adoption is principally contingent on perceiving enablers and eliminating any inhibitors comprising ERP technological readiness. This study delivers practical verification to the higher education context by advancing ERP concepts and characteristics from the HEIs’ perspective. This study, finally, suggests that ERP adoption is beneficial for HEIs

It has become common practice for higher education institutions (HEIs) to replace existing computer systems, called legacy administrative information systems, with new ones to cope with the continuously changing demands in the context of education. At the top of these systems is enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems that integrate HEIs' business processes, functions, and data to improve their overall productivity and effectiveness. However, many studies on ERP adoption have shown that organizations frequently face several barriers, and the failure rate is high. In addition, various research projects have concluded that, quite often, HEIs do not obtain the expected advantages from the adoption of the ERP system. This research aims to explore the factors that affect the behavioral adoption and acceptance of an ERP system in the context of HEIs. Based on works from literature and authors' observations of the PeopleSoft system (ERP system) implementation at Yanbu University College (YUC) in Yanbu City, Saudi Arabia (SA), a conceptual model of users' acceptance of ERP systems has been proposed. The framework is based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model and is extended with additional constructs. The present study offers a theoretical contribution by extending the UTAUT model to provide a richer understanding of users' adoption behavior of ERP systems in the HEI context. In addition, according to the authors' knowledge, this is the first paper that to address ERP users' adoption perspective in HEIs in SA.
