Effect of Turmeric Flour (Curcuma domestica) and Fish Oil on Daily Egg Production and Organoleptics of Quail Eggs (Coturnix-coturnix japonica)

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding the concentration of turmeric flour and fish oil to the quail formula feed. This research is an experimental study using the factorial method. This experiment used 96 quail (Cortunix cortunix japonica), which were randomized into 6 treatments with 4 replications. Quails were divided into 6 groups and treated with different concentrations of turmeric flour and fish oil in each feed formula. The effects of different formula feeds were observed on changes in egg production and organoleptic changes. Egg production data were taken every day from week 3 to week 4 during the treatment period. The data taken is called Quail Day Production (QDP%). The organoleptic data of eggs were taken at the 3rd week of treatment and the preference test was carried out by 40 panelists on the aroma, taste and level of preference of quail eggs after being boiled. The addition of 0.3% turmeric flour significantly affected egg production but its combination with fish oil did not affect egg production. The combination of the concentration of turmeric flour and fish oil does not change the aroma of the eggs, but changes the taste of the eggs.

EFFECT OF LIGHT BULB COLOR ON EGG PRODUCTION OF QUAILS  (Coturnix Coturnix japonica). The present study was conducted to determine the effect of different color of light bulbs on egg production of Quails (Coturnix Coturnix japonica).  The trial was conducted for seven weeks during the egg laying period. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications was used to as experimental design. Treatments were formulated using 5 different light bulb colors, as follow:  R0 = no color (transparent) light bulb, R1 = yellow color light bulb; R2 = green color light bulb, and R3 = red color light bulb. The variables measured were: feed consumption, egg production, and egg weight. Research results showed that treatment did not significantly (P > 0.05) affect daily feed consumption, egg production, and egg weight. It can be concluded that color differences (transparent, yellow, green, and red) in lighting can be used interchangeably in Quail egg production purposes.Keywords: Light bulb color, Quail, feed consumption, egg production, egg weight

PERFORMANS OF QUAIL (Coturnix – coturnix japonica) PROVIDED CONCH PADDY (Pila ampullacea) FLOUR  AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR FISH FLOUR IN THE RATION. This research aims to determine the extent to which the use of conch paddy (Pila ampullacea) flour as a substitute for fish flour in the ration on the performances of Quail (Coturnix- Coturnix japonica). This research used 60 quail 5-week-old female and for data collection was performed 8 weeks. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 4 treatments and 5 replications. Such treatment is the conch paddy flour with some level of giving in the ration, which is : R0 = 0% conch paddy flour + 15% fish flour, R1 = 5% conch paddy flour + 10% fish flour, R2 = 10% conch paddy flour + 5% fish flour, and R3 = 15% conch paddy flour + 0% fish flour. Variables measured in order to see the response of quail to the conch paddy flour is feed consumption, egg production and feed conversion. Results of analysis of variance showed that the treatment was not significantly different on feed consumption, egg production and feed conversion. Based on the results of this research indicate conch paddy flour up to the level of 15% can be used as a substitute for fish flour in the ration of quail. This study aims to determine the effect of laser puncture shooting on the reproductive acupuncture points of Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) egg quantity (egg production) and internal egg quality (Haugh unit, yolk index, and yolk colour). This research was conducted for 30 days using a sample of Japanese quail aged 4 weeks because for the first 2 weeks, the quail did not produce and it was in production in the last 2 weeks. There were 4 treatments and 25 replications each. So, there were a total of 100 quails. Laser puncture shooting was carried out at 3-day intervals at the Ova point and 6-day intervals at Hu Men, Bei Ji, and Wei Gen points. So, on the first day, laser puncture shooting was carried out at 4 points, on the 4th day, only at 1 point, and then, on the 7th day, it returned to 4 points. And so, it was carried out for 4 weeks. T0 (−) was considered as a negative control because quails are not given laser puncture shooting; T0 (+) was considered as a positive control because quails are treated with laser puncture shooting which is deactivated or a dose of 0 Joule; T1 was a group treated with laser puncture shooting at a dose of 0.2 Joule, and T2 was a group treated with laser puncture shooting at a dose of 0.5 Joule. Then, the research results were analyzed using Analysis of Variance and followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. Laser puncture shooting at the reproductive acupuncture point of Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) can increase the quantity of eggs ( p < 0.05 ). While the results of the egg internal quality in the form of the Haugh unit value and the yolk index increased ( p < 0.05 ), the value of the yolk colour did not change compared to the control ( p > 0.05 ). Laser puncture shooting at the reproductive acupuncture point of Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) can increase egg quantity (egg production) and internal egg quality (Haugh unit and yolk index) with the best dose of 0.5 Joule.
