The purpose of this research is to examine the work of the ICT coordinator in the school: How does the coordinator see his role and work, what are the characteristics of the coordinators work and his relationship with supervisors, instructors, principals, teachers and students. The research was conducted in the qualitative method, the tool used to assemble data was a semi-structured interview; Ten ICT coordinators were interviewed from a variety of ages and a wide range of experience in teaching. The study found that ICT coordinators are the key figures in getting the process of implementation moving. The ICT coordinators know the importance of their roles in the schools and feel a great sense of responsibility. The coordinators are responsible for many fields, including the budgetary framework, promoting the teaching-learning process and leading school projects. The coordinators attest to a high level of trust with the principals and a good working relationship with the Ministry of Education’s instructors, so that they have an open channel of dialogue and can consult with them. The work of the coordinator with the teachers consists of the pedagogical and technical aspect that are intertwined and attest to each other’s existence.

The pandemic situation at the beginning of March 2020 forced teachers to develop alternative teaching methods, and most important to find the best ways to keep teaching for every student no matter the situation, as for example, the lack of computer knowledge or hardware/software support. Teachers worldwide struggled to support, encourage, find the best ways not only to help students to keep learning but support them emotionally. At the end of the academic year, teachers made efforts to develop fair, appropriate evaluation procedures adapted to distance education. This paper summarizes the Distance Teaching-Learning-Evaluation (DTLE) evolution in Russia and Romania and some methods developed from March to December 2020 to support the educational activity. Some benefits, challenges and difficulties are identified during the same period of time in different DTLE scenarios, from the point of view of teachers and students, as well. Examples of new adapted methods, dedicated to the DTLE scenarios are al-so addressed in this work.

The quest for social and economic development coupled with a growing population has led to complex and unsustainable interactions between humans and the natural resources of planet Earth. One approach to addressing complex, ‘wicked’ problems involves closing the gap between the sustainability knowledge of individuals and the competencies for positive environmental behaviours. Projectbased learning is one teaching-learning strategy which provides opportunities for cultivating a wide range of sustainability competencies to close this gap. Two cases are presented in this paper in which project-based learning was used for fostering environmental competencies and advancing sustainability. One relates to teachers in a graduate course, and the other, to students using an online learning platform. Evaluation of various qualitative documents and artefacts produced by participants revealed that i) teachers and students were motivated and enabled to take action on environmental and sustainability issues through project-based learning ii) participants’ environmental knowledge and sustainability competencies such as communication and collaboration skills were enhanced. School administrators should therefore encourage a culture where project-based learning is infused into the curriculum, and teachers’ collaborative efforts regarding projects are supported.

The use of film within the context of the classroom may generate great interest from teachers and students. From the point of view of Geography and History classes, it can provide indications to analyse and understand spaces, times and societies reflected in the images. It can be used as an object to be explored in teaching-learning context, in several teaching levels. In this text it is intended to reflect, from a theoretical point of view, on the relation between movie and history, considering the film as an analysis object and investigation instrument, as well as builder of historic environments and landscapes.

The transfer of the genomic resources developed in the Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus, to other Tilapiines sensu lato and African cichlid would provide new possibilities to study this amazing group from genetics, ecology, evolution, aquaculture, and conservation point of view. We tested the cross-species amplification of 32 O. niloticus microsatellite markers in a panel of 15 species from 5 different African cichlid tribes: Oreochromines (Oreochromis, Sarotherodon), Boreotilapiines (Tilapia), Chromidotilapines, Hemichromines, and Haplochromines. Amplification was successfully observed for 29 markers (91%), with a frequency of polymorphic (P95) loci per species around 70%. The mean number of alleles per locus and species was 3.2 but varied from 3.7 within Oreochromis species to 1.6 within the nontilapia species. The high level of cross-species amplification and polymorphism of the microsatellite markers tested in this study provides powerful tools for a wide range of molecular genetic studies within tilapia species as well as for other African cichlids.

The present study is an investiagtion of distance teaching as an alternative to in-person classes during a lockdown. The study aims at unveiling the teachers and students’ perceptions and attitudes towards e-teaching/learning during a pandemic crisis. As an alternative to face -to face interviews with the teachers and the students because of the sanitary conditions, the tools have been adapted to existing conditions. To obtain data, two tools have been used online, a semi- structured interview with (n 51) master students and a lickert scale questionnaire for (n 18) teachers in the department of English in the university Abdelhamid Ibn Badis in Algeria.Findings revealed the reluctance in the exclusive use of distance teaching by the majority of teachers and the students. The great majority of them also prefers in person classes.This is justified by technical difficulties, lack of comprehension, poor internet flow and a lack of training.

A series of theoretical empirical reflections on research skills are presented from the experience of professors and postgraduate students. The purpose is to analyze from the experience of postgraduate teachers and students in education offered by the UPNECH Chihuahua campus the teaching-learning process and identify the research skills they have developed in order to propose actions to transform the process.The phenomenological method was used with a semi-structured interview and a theoretical review of studies developed in the international context was carried out. Among the main findings is the organization's research skills that the graduate student needs to develop,the need to link the curriculum with the research for the successful development of the graduate programs is identified and a series of proposals are made to favor the development of research skills in the teaching-learning process.

As the means of transferring knowledge between teachers and students, coursebooks play a significant role in educational practices all over the world. Evaluation of coursebooks is also of great significance as it manages to a better understanding of the nature of a specific teaching/learning situation. The present study is an attempt to evaluate Total English coursebook from both Iranian EFL learners and teachers perspectives. Ninety three students and 20 teachers participated in this study. Fifty one of the students and 11 of the teachers were male and 42 of the students and nine of the teachers were female. The range of teachers' experience of teaching the coursebook was between 2-4 years and the range of students' experience of studying the coursebook was between 1-3 years. The data collection took place in three language institutes of Gilan and Mazandaran provinces. The coursebook, evaluated based on modified version of Cunningsworth's (1995) checklist, was the intermediate level of Total English. It was evaluated by both students and teachers based on administering written questionnaires. In order to triangulate the gathered data, 25 percent of the teachers and 10 percent of the students attended an interview session. Data analysis indicated that strength of Total English from teachers' perspective was culture and from students' point of view were visuals as well as practice and testing. Moreover, from students' perspective, the primary shortcoming of the coursebook was phonology.

Sound quality metrics provide an objective assessment of the psychoacoustics of sounds. A wide range of metrics has been already standardised while others remain as active research topics. Calculation algorithms are available in commercial equipment or Matlab scripts. However, they may not present available data on general documentation and validation procedures. Moreover, the use of these tools might be unaffordable for some students and independent researchers. In recent years, the scientific and technical community has been developing uncountable open-source software projects in several knowledge fields. The permission to use, study, modify, improve and distribute open-source software make it extremely valuable. It encourages collaboration and sharing, and thus transparency and continuous improvement of the coding. Modular Sound Quality Integrated Toolbox (MOSQITO) project relies on one of the most popular high-level and free programming languages: Python. The main objective of MOSQITO is to provide a unified and modular framework of key sound quality and psychoacoustics metrics, free and open-source, which supports reproducible testing. Moreover, open-source projects can be efficient learning tools at University degrees. This paper presents the current structure of the toolbox from a technical point of view. Besides, it discusses open-source development contributions to graduates training.

AbstractInforming citizens about scientific issues in our highly technological world is of major importance. Toward this end, a teaching/learning sequence (TLS) focused on the nanostructures of carbon was developed and implemented in a class of secondary school students. This topic was chosen because, on the one hand, fullerenes and nanotubes are already used in a wide range of applications, and there are impressive promises for their future uses. On the other hand, from an educational point of view, students could be introduced to the important idea that some of the interesting properties at the nanoscale level are related to the structure of matter. During the development of the TLS, the fact that students would be studying extremely small-sized particles invisible to the naked eye was taken into consideration. Because of this, models and analogies were chosen as the main teaching tools to be used. In the present work, the TLS and some findings from the first implementation in the classroom are presented and discussed.

Teaching mathematics as a concept formation process requires rethinking the teacher's role, the conditions for organizing pedagogical work, the way of thinking, feeling and acting in education, the characteristics and interests of students. It needs the entire school community's involvement, presenting the content in a contextualized way, through a problematic situation, compatible with a real situation, which has elements that give meaning and construction to the mathematical content. This work sought to broaden the understanding of contextualization in the teaching of mathematics since working with content that is not related to the context in which the student is inserted is not attractive. To this end, a survey was conducted based on a semi-structured interview with the teachers and students of that school, in addition to observations and pedagogical practice. According to the results, the teachers' conceptions are identified and perceived, showing that the methodologies used by them in a contextualized way provide meaningful learning, since teaching is an active, evolving process about contextualization and its contribution to the learning of the students of this school, the research also shows how the contextualized teaching of mathematics is evaluated and the importance of bringing innovative, motivating and meaningful situations to classrooms. Therefore, it is understood that Contextualized Education in the teaching of mathematics enables the construction of the student's knowledge according to his reality, mainly due to the applicability of Mathematics, stimulates creativity, investigation, critical analysis of results and contributes significantly to the teaching-learning process.
