Teachers worldwide struggled to support, encourage, find the best ways not only to help students to keep learning but support them emotionally. At the end of the academic year, teachers made efforts to develop fair, appropriate evaluation procedures adapted to distance education. This paper summarizes the Distance Teaching-Learning-Evaluation (DTLE) evolution in Russia and Romania and some methods developed from March to December 2020 to support the educational activity. Some benefits, challenges and difficulties are identified during the same period of time in different DTLE scenarios, from the point of view of teachers and students, as well. Distance language learning is a real challenge to both teachers and learners, since the students’ exposure to the target language in a distance learning system is not as authentic and interactive as required. Additionally, it also entails a significant reduction in the amount of students’ interaction and in the support from both the teacher and other learners, which has a negative impact on students’ levels of motivation and achievement. In the hope of enhancing the distance teaching-learning process of a language and compensating for the previously mentioned drawbacks, a number of technological tools are currently being implemented. However, these technologies have also brought about new challenges that need to be addressed by policy makers, materials developers, teachers and students, if they are to be successfully implemented.

The use of film within the context of the classroom may generate great interest from teachers and students. From the point of view of Geography and History classes, it can provide indications to analyse and understand spaces, times and societies reflected in the images. It can be used as an object to be explored in teaching-learning context, in several teaching levels. In this text it is intended to reflect, from a theoretical point of view, on the relation between movie and history, considering the film as an analysis object and investigation instrument, as well as builder of historic environments and landscapes.

The present study is an investiagtion of distance teaching as an alternative to in-person classes during a lockdown. The study aims at unveiling the teachers and students’ perceptions and attitudes towards e-teaching/learning during a pandemic crisis. As an alternative to face -to face interviews with the teachers and the students because of the sanitary conditions, the tools have been adapted to existing conditions. To obtain data, two tools have been used online, a semi- structured interview with (n 51) master students and a lickert scale questionnaire for (n 18) teachers in the department of English in the university Abdelhamid Ibn Badis in Algeria.Findings revealed the reluctance in the exclusive use of distance teaching by the majority of teachers and the students. The great majority of them also prefers in person classes. This is justified by technical difficulties, lack of comprehension, poor internet flow and a lack of training.

This article presents a small scale qualitative study which aims to investigate the teachers' perspectives, practices and experiences regarding distance teaching and learning among refugee students in Greece during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the teachers' voices, we attempt to initially map and frame the context of distance education for refugee students, as it was implemented during the first lockdown (March-May 2020) and understand the experiences, challenges and changes involved for both refugee students and teachers. The study was conducted through open-ended online questionnaires, which were completed by 27 participant teachers, teaching students with a refugee/migrant background in their classes and implementing distance teaching during the first COVID-19 school closure. The findings provide insights into the ways teachers and students responded to and experienced distance education as well as the challenges and possibilities involved. Implications are drawn for supporting vulnerable groups with (language) teaching/learning in crisis.

The inclusion of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) tools in the teaching of foreign languages support cultivating independent learning, promotes the creation of oral comprehension skills and the development of listening habits. This study reflects the perception of the use of online platforms as a tool of communication, not only of information, revealing a multitude of opportunities for teaching foreign languages, but also challenges that require an argumentation of their positive role in structured educational environments. This argument makes this study necessary in the field of didactics, not only from the point of view of the resizing and enrichment of the pedagogical framework for teaching foreign languages but also from the perspective of teaching, which will, very probably, not be the same as before. This type of education, which encourages the development of the intercultural competence of the learners, contributes to the global formation of their personality as a social being through the creation of a context where language and culture merge into an inseparable unit, given that the real or virtual teaching environment is the meeting point of at least two cultures: that of the student and the language in question.

This article makes an analysis of the pedagogical teaching practices used and developed by Chilean physical education teachers during the coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) pandemic periods. The virus from China spread around the world, changed our daily lives and as such, at the same time impacted the educational system in a matter of weeks. Confinement led educational systems to eliminate face-to-face and use virtual teaching in order to continue with the teaching-learning processes, including the physical education discipline. From the methodological point of view, the study is installed in the interpretive-qualitative perspective, in such a way that 14 semi-structured interviews were carried by physical education teachers from the Maule-Chile region, via team, Zoom, Skype, because of the pandemic, face-to-face contact was impossible. The result of the study shows the impact on the quality of life of teachers and students because of the confinement. The pedagogical reconfiguration that teachers experienced in a matter of days, led them to use different virtual platforms to continue connected with their students, in order to deploy the learning objectives defined by the Chilean Ministry of Education. However, the foregoing shows the scarce possibility of verifying student learning, due to the difficulties of monitoring and feedback.
