AbstractThe earthquake of April 2016 that occurred on the Ecuadorian coast affected dozens of cities and its results had a special impact on some groups. Health services were saturated and for different reasons, they were inaccessible for part of the population. The objective of this paper is to analyze the forms of pedestrian mobility and autonomous access to health services for the elderly with disabilities after the earthquake in three of the most affected cities: Manta, Pedernales and Portoviejo. The methodology used includes a literature review of technical documents and standards about inclusive pedestrian mobility, and based on the parameters taken from these documents, an evaluation through photointerpretation of the physical environment conditions previous to the earthquake, is made. The results of this evaluation are compared with the post-disaster situation through the elaboration and collection of cartography. The results show that the territorial conditions limited the autonomous mobility and access to health services for the elderly with disabilities in both situations, before and after the earthquake.

ABSTRACTThis study aimed to analyze the indicators of morbidity, access to health services and the practice of leisure physical activity in older adults. The questionnaires were applied in 213 elderly men and women, aged 60 and older living in the urban area of the city of Rio do Sul - Santa Catarina. It can be seen that just over 80% of the elderly were classified as inactive in leisure activities, most women self rated their health positively, and about 37% of the elderly sought access and regular use of health services in the weeks prior to the survey. In conclusion, it can be seen that the association of physical activity with access to health services is on morbidity indicators in order to prevent the elderly are active during leisure.

ABSTRACTObjectiveWe aimed to compare the pregnancy status of the pregnant women and birth status of their newborns, socioeconomic status, and access to health services, between high- and low-damage areas in Heris, affected by the Varzaghan Earthquake, 2012.MethodsThe study was conducted on pregnant women at any trimester of pregnancy (with complete medical profiles in local health centers) in August 2012 (time of the earthquake) who lived in Heris and delivered up to March 2013. Data were obtained on pregnancy- and infant-related variables, housing, socioeconomic status, and access to health services, including food supplies, before and after the earthquake.ResultsFamily income and mothers’ education were lower in highly damaged areas. Among these women, underweight at first trimester of pregnancy was higher, and weight gain during the last trimester was lower, compared with low-damage regions. Preterm delivery was higher in low-damage areas. Birth indices of the infants were not significantly different between the 2 areas; however, in highly damaged areas, moderate malnutrition was more prevalent among children under 1 year (weight-for-age) and under 2 years (height-for-age).ConclusionsSocioeconomic status of mothers was lower in highly damaged areas and might have played a role in their own and newborns’ health status. This study aimed to learn about the conditions of access to health services that seniors living in rural areas have, as well as their satisfaction. This is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory research conducted in a municipality located in the southern region of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It included 19 elderly individuals registered in three Basic Health Units organized in the form of Family Health Strategy. Data were collected between July and August 2018 through semi-structured interviews, which were analyzed based on Minayo's operational proposal. Afterwards, two categories were defined: "Access to health services used by elderly residents of rural areas" and "Satisfaction with health services used by elderly residents of rural areas". Concerning access, many are the difficulties faced, such as long distances to be traveled until arriving at a health service, poor road conditions, limitations related to public transport days, timetables and itineraries, lack of human and material resources, and long waiting time to make appointments with specialists and schedule exams through the Brazilian Unified Health System. As for satisfaction, the main complaint of the elderly participants refers to issues involving, above all, health management and work process, such as delay in making health care appointments, although most participants reported being satisfied with the care provided by health professionals. It is worth noting that learning about the conditions of access to health services used by elderly people living in rural areas and their satisfaction contributes to the planning, implementation, development and evaluation of public health actions, programs and policies.

The increasing number of elderly people from year to year shows the high life expectancy in elderly women. This situation coupled with cultural and social aspects can trigger vulnerability for elderly women, including the health aspect. This study aims to describe the factors of access to health services for elderly women in the village of Pancuran, Salatiga. The method used is descriptive-quantitative with data collection carried out in Pancuran Village using a questionnaire. Elderly women in Pancuran Village have different economic, educational, employment and social status backgrounds but have the same vulnerability to access health services due to the unavailability of posyandu for the elderly in Pancuran Village. Nevertheless, efforts to access health services are still underway. This research shows that cultural involvement in health care is needed to realize integrated, patient-centered, and gender-friendly health services.
