One of the important parts of foreign language teaching and learning is English pronunciation because it impacts learners' communicative competence and performance. Lack of pronunciation skills reduces learners’ self-confidence and limit their social interactions. EFL teachers can help their learners obtain the necessary skills of pronunciation they need for effective communication. In this paper, the researchers define the term pronunciation, explain the importance of pronunciation, declare the goals of English pronunciation, state the aspects of English pronunciation, elaborate the reason of integrating pronunciation in EFL classes, express techniques for teaching English pronunciation, and mention implications for the learning and teaching of English pronunciation. The review of literature indicates that EFL teachers play a vital role in improving the learners’ pronunciation skill.

Background: There is a shift in the teaching learning process with the advent of newer methodologies. The present study was conducted to obtain feedback from 2 year dental students regarding teaching and learning methodology and their perception about pharmacology. Methods: This was an observational, cross-sectional questionnaire based survey. A self-designed questionnaire containing 10 questions with 4-6 options regarding the teaching and learning methodology was given to 2nd year dental students. Responses was collected and data was compiled in Microsoft excel and statistically analyzed. Results: A total of 97 students participated in this survey. Students opinion revealed that, Gastrointestinal followed by general pharmacology and cardiovascular system were the most favorite topics. Majority preferred studying from “standard text books” and method of learning was “understanding” of the subject rather mugging. Majority of the students said that preferred lectures taken via LCD projectors and rated viva and MCQ as preferred method of evaluation university exams. Interactive classes and tutorials were the most preferred techniques. Conclusions: The study concluded that interactive classes and overhead /LCD based lectures should be inculcated in routine learning and teaching program of pharmacology. There is a need to qualitatively assess the various teaching and learning methods, so as to understand students views and their perception for improving teaching and learning pharmacology. The outcome will help us to modify and improve quality of under graduate dental pharmacology teaching and learning.

This article explores the concept of “technology” within the wider contexts of music and education. It draws upon a recent position paper by Himonides and Purves (2010), which argues that technology should not be viewed as a solution for the music educator to apply in the classroom. “Music technology” should be treated like any other tool that supports learning and teaching; helps us engage with valued forms of knowledge; celebrates and recognizes the importance of prior learning and experience; requires the teacher to scaffold learning; needs assessment to be congruent with learning; promotes the active engagement of the learner; fosters both individual and social processes and outcomes; recognizes the significance of informal learning; depends on teacher learning; and, finally, demands consistent policy frameworks with support for teaching and learning as the primary focus.

This paper has identified an exciting future in which the nature of English as a subject is radically changed, embracing new literacies as a focus and a means for learning and teaching. It has also discussed the factors that impede progress. However, this does not mean that our training of future teachers should present the role of ICT in the teaching of English as limited to that of enhancement, providing a tool to support traditional approaches to the teaching and learning of English. On the contrary, it is essential that we encourage student, teachers to appreciate the powerful impact of ICT on English as a subject, the diversity of texts, uses of literacy and means to facilitate teaching and learning it provides. It is therefore essential that student teachers are aware of their potential to transform learning in their classrooms. By supporting them in gaining the knowledge, confidence and critical awareness to recognize the potential of ICT, we may enable them to provide a vibrant and dynamic English curriculum and embrace further change in the future.

Technology is being used in teaching environments to engage students and teachers effectively in the classroom context and building their interest to explore the versatile phenomenon of learning. Digital game-based learning has become a new learning experience that enhances students’ and teachers’ motivation to achieve competencies. The present research explores the perceptions of teachers and students about digital game-based learning in ESL classrooms. The researcher draws on the relevant literature to demonstrate and support the study's findings. The research is investigated quantitatively by administering a questionnaire to measure the perspectives of ESL teachers and the foundation-year students at King Abdulaziz University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The quantitative data gathered from students and teachers were analyzed through SPSS software. The findings indicate that a significant number of respondents prefer using technological devices for better outcomes in the teaching and learning process. It also shows that using digital games had positive impact in relation to three main variables; engagement with learning and teaching, acceptance of DGBL and the effects of DGBL to learn the English language. This also helps participants to gain learning experience in their environment at any time and from anywhere.

This study proposed to investigate the phenomena of code switching which refers to the use of English and Indonesian as a medium of instruction used by the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers in their classroom discourse. It depicted the attitudes of EFL teachers and their students towards the patterns, functions, and influence of code switching in two EFL classes in Indonesia. The data were collected from classroom observation, interview, and questionnaire which explored the occurrence of code switching during the teaching and learning process as well as the teachers and students’ perception on its use in the classroom context. The results indicated that the switching between English and Indonesian in the EFL classrooms was very natural since it also became a tool to show the cultural, social, and communicative aspects of each language despite the amount of its use which varied greatly from teacher to teacher due to their students’ English competence.

This chapter provides an in-depth study of the teaching practices of instructors who primarily guide and facilitate learning in a makespace. With a close look at the pedagogical practices that govern teaching and learning in the maker classroom, this study presents instructors who modeled these frameworks. In addition to their own knowledge base and expertise, they were able to efficiently and effectively integrate multi-resources in a unique learning environment while helping learners succeed and adopt the maker mindset. Makerspaces are changing how we perceive learning and teaching. Instructors highlighted in this chapter put forth activities and learning goals that were learner centered and interesting to various learning needs. They designed and created a learning environment that safeguarded learners and allowed them to experiment with ideas and materials, creating different iterations of learning and redefining what success and failure means.
