<p>This article examines the social participation of students with special needs in four aspects, namely friendship, interaction, social self-perception, and  peers acceptance. This study discuss about the social participation of students with special needs in inclusive school. This research is descriptive quantitative and the relationship between the four aspects of social participation. The subject of this research are students with special needs and regular students in ten inclusive elementary school, Padang. The social self-perception was measured with three aspects such as the Self-Perception Profile for Children, The Self-Description Questionnaire and Peer Social Acceptance The results showed that the majority of students with special needs have a satisfying level of social participation. However, if compared with their peers (regular students), students with special needs are more likely to have difficulties on social participation. In general, students with special needs have fewer friends and have less cohesive friendship than their peers. In addition, students with special needs have less interaction with peers, more interaction with the teacher, and less accepted by their normal peers. Social self-perception of students with special needs and regular students are no different. There is no significant differences in social participation in both groups.</p><p> </p><p>Straipsnyje analizuojamas specialiųjų ugydymosi poreikių turinčių mokinių socialinis dalyvavimas keturiais aspektais: draugystės, interakcijos, socialinės savivokos ir bendramokslių priėmimo. Taip pat aptariamas jų socialinis dalyvavimas inkliuzinėje mokykloje. Be to, aprašomuoju būdu analizuojami kiekybiniai santykiai tarp šių keturių socialinio dalyvavimo aspektų. Duomenys buvo renkami iš tiek turinčių, tiek ir neturinčių specialiųjų ugdymosi poreikių mokinių, besimokančių dešimtyje inkliuzinių pradinių mokyklų Padange. Socialinė savivoka buvo tiriama trimis aspektais: vaikų<br />savivokos profilis, savęs apibūdinimo klausimynas ir bendramokslių socialinis priėmimas. Rezultatai parodė, kad dauguma specialiųjų ugdymosi poreikių turinčių mokinių demonstruoja patenkinamą socialinio dalyvavimo lygį. Kaip bebūtų, lyginant su jų bendramoksliais (įprastos raidos mokiniais), yra labiau tikėtina, kad jiems kyla sunkumų socialiai dalyvauti, jie turi mažiau draugų ir jų draugystė ne tokia glaudi. Be to, jie daugiau bendrauja su savo mokytoja (-u) ir yra mažiau priimami specialiųjų ugdymosi poreikių neturinčių bendramokslių, kurių socialinė savivoka skiriasi.</p>

The obligation to develop a county (powiat) strategy for solving social problems results from the provisions of the Act of March 12, 2004 on social assistance. This article presents the role of this strategy in the process of reducing social problems: unemployment, poverty, homelessness, addictions, problems of the elderly and disabled, orphans, etc. It indicates the role of social participation in the process of developing the strategy and implementing its objectives. The cooperation of local authorities, social assistance units, NGOs and many other institutions remains a basic condition for the effective implementation of the strategy.


In the current times, the research cites that elderly definitely need social networks to aid in their mental and physical well being. The previous researches have indicated familyfocused, friend-focused, and restricted types as the types of social networks available. Social network include social interaction and social communication. It is the need of the hour to study about the social network of the elderly population because many of them are left with nobody and loneliness is one of the important factor not to mention about desertion by their loved ones since they are no longer productive individuals. The heterogeneity of social networks is pathway to successful and healthy ageing. Healthy ageing is about using opportunities so that they can have social participation and lead a good quality of life. Elderly need not be burdensome individuals in the society instead they can be involved in lot of activities which contribute to them ageing gracefully. The research studies state that rural elderly have more chances of social participation that they find more meaning in life which is a contributing factor for healthy ageing. The present study aims to find out the relationship between social network and healthy ageing.

<p>The article deals with the issues of Communal Seniors Council as an institution of social participation in local government. The considerations start with the discussion of the concept and the essence of social participation and participation of the elderly in public life. Then, the Communal Seniors Councils were analysed in the light of the Act on the Municipal Self-Government, the functions of the Seniors’ Councils, as well as the social participation of the elderly in the United Kingdom and Germany also were presented.</p>

Abstract As the number of older workers in the U.S. workforce increases, perceived work ability, which indicates a worker’s capacity to perform job-related tasks or to remain employed, becomes increasingly important. However, age discrimination may undermine the ability of older adults to remain active in the workplace as it poses a significant barrier to their work ability. The purpose of this study was to examine how age discrimination affects perceived work ability among older workers. We also evaluated the role of self-efficacy as a potential mediator between age discrimination and perceived work ability. Self-efficacy can contribute to older adults’ productive aging since it helps them view age-related situations more positively. Using 2,011 respondents (aged 50+) data from the 2018 Health and Retirement Study, structural equation modeling analysis was conducted. Our findings indicated that age discrimination had a direct negative effect on perceived work ability (B = -.230, p &lt; .001). Older workers who experienced more age discrimination were more likely to have low levels of perceived work ability. The indirect effect of self-efficacy (B = -.177; 95% CI = -.240, -.135) was significant. Older workers who experienced more age discrimination were more likely to have low levels of self-efficacy, and this relationship led to lower levels of perceived work ability. These results suggest that greater efforts are required to reduce age discrimination and its negative consequence on perceived work ability and self-efficacy among older workers. Furthermore, age discrimination laws should be more explicitly enforced in the policy direction for older workers.
