Abstract Location spoofing detection is an important part of location proof schemes in IoT systems. It is important for location systems to accurately evaluate the credibility of location data uploaded by users. Differ with the works employing physical layer features such as signal strength or channel state information, we focus on laying the foundation for solutions aiming to build the location spoofing detection functions in the blockchain based IoT systems. More specifically,an IoT system is established at the node level and the moving-track level for the evaluation of the credibility of location proof with the characteristics of the blockchain positioning system. A multi-layer fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) evaluation method is considered for the detection of location spoofing in blockchains. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme is practical, and can provide a reference for the credibility evaluation of location proof.

The traditional method of designing wayfinding systems has been used in tourism management for decades. However, the absence of quantitative evaluations for the wayfinding system at tourist resorts may affect information transmission and cause visitors to feel lost. This article proposes a quantitative approach and applies it to the wayfinding system at the Shanghai Disneyland Resort from 2017 to 2019, where the layouts and the contents of wayfinding signboards are systematically evaluated. The analytic hierarchy process is used in conjunction with expert advice to rank 11 elements of content design, and four reasonable indices are calculated to explore the spatial–topological relationships at the tourism resort. According to both the field and expert investigation and tourists’ responses to designed questionnaires, the results show that this method containing content and layout evaluation can enhance tourist satisfaction in certain aspects, thus helping to improve tourism management by considering important indices in wayfinding signage design and modification.

Effective method used to deal with the corrosion damage condition of any concrete bridge superstructure will help decision makers of bridge management agencies to better choose repair material, and optimize repair method. Simplified corrosion index (SCI) is a very useful and simple index to characterize the actual corrosion damage condition of a reinforced concrete bridge superstructure. In this paper, SCI is calculated by combining the Corrosion Damage Index (CDI), Environment Change Factor (ECF) and Material Vulnerability Factor (MVF). The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method is applied to decide the weight factors of CDI, ECF and MVF. The Fuzzy-AHP evaluation method is used in this study to deal with the fuzzy problem of differentiating the different levels of corrosion indicators and to determine the appropriate weight factors. The asymmetric nearness degree method is applied to re-analyze the evaluation vector from Fuzzy-AHP method to calculate the corrosion damage level based on all corrosion indicators. A numerical example was presented to demonstrate the procedure and the benefits of the AHP method, and the proposed Fuzzy-AHP approach, along with the asymmetric nearness degree method, in dealing with the fuzzy nature of SCI calculation problem.

Decisions usually involve the getting the best solution, selecting the suitable experiments, most appropriate judgments, taking the quality results etc., using some techniques.  Every decision making can be considered as the choice from the set of alternatives based on a set of criteria.  The fuzzy analytic hierarchy process is a multi-criteria decision making and is dealing with decision making problems through pairwise comparisons mode [10].  The weight vectors from this comparison model are obtained by using extent analysis method.  This paper concern with an alternate method of finding the weight vectors from the original fuzzy AHP decision model (moderate fuzzy AHP model), that has the same rank as obtained in original fuzzy AHP and ideal fuzzy AHP decision models.

Increasing traffic volume and insufficient road lanes often require municipal roads to be reconstructed and expanded. Where a road passes under a bridge, the reconstruction and expansion project will inevitably have an impact on the bridge. To evaluate the safety impact of road engineering projects on bridges, this paper evaluates the safety of the roads and ancillary facilities of highway bridges involved in municipal road engineering projects. Based on a comprehensive analysis of the safety factors of municipal roads undercrossing existing bridges, a fuzzy comprehensive analytic hierarchy process (AHP) evaluation method for the influence of road construction on the safety of existing bridges is proposed. First, AHP is used to select 11 evaluation factors. Second, the target layer, criterion layer, and index layer of evaluation factors are established, then a safety evaluation factor system is formed. The three-scale AHP model is used to determine the weight of assessment indexes. Third, through the fuzzy comprehensive AHP evaluation model, the fuzzy hierarchical comprehensive evaluation is carried out for the safety assessment index system. Finally, the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is applied to the engineering example of a municipal road undercrossing an existing expressway bridge. The comprehensive safety evaluation of the existing bridge reflects the practicability and feasibility of the method. It is expected that, with further development, the method will improve the decision-making process in bridge safety assessment systems.

The construction of wind farms grows quickly in China. It is necessary for stakeholders to estimate investment costs and to make good decisions about a wind power project by making a budget for the investment. This paper proposed an evaluation method by integrating the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) with back-propagation neural network (BPNN) to evaluate wind farm investment. In the AHP-BPNN model, the AHP method is used to determine the factors of wind farm investment. The factors with high importance are reserved while those with low importance are eliminated, which can decrease the number of inputs of the BPNN. The experiment results show that the integrated model is feasible and effective.

Study of mechanical characteristics of structural planes has been significant issue in engineering rock mass stability analysis. The factors that affect the mechanical behavior of structural planes are so complicated that it is quite essential to take an efficient method to quantificationally analyze these factors. Based on the basic principals of analytic hierarchy process (AHP), a structural plane classification method-CSPC method is proposed. It can conduct weight distribution in terms of the complicated factors, assess the structural planes comprehensively and also forecast the planes intensity parameters semiquantitatively. The classification and forecast parameters of structural planes appropriately fit the cases in engineering. Furthermore, the method is easy to master for the engineers and the application can be of great prospect.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to identify factors that are important for logistics organizations from the perspective of manpower readiness for digitization of logistics operations. The study also prioritizes the identified factors and also evaluates the readiness index of manpower for the digitalization of logistics processes.Design/methodology/approachThe factors for manpower readiness are identified through literature review and analysis of a case study. Three major categories of factors are identified. These are organizational, behavioural and technological factors. Under these three major categories of factors, 18 sub-factors are identified. Thereafter, with experts' inputs, the factors are prioritized using Fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Further, a case illustration of an Indian logistics company has been taken to understand the current processes, technical capabilities, manpower skills and organization culture. After the case analysis and expert inputs, the manpower readiness index has been evaluated by using graph theory matrix approach (GTMA).FindingsThe prioritization of manpower readiness factors has been done using Fuzzy AHP. Organizational factors are found to be the most important factors which require quick attention. Sub-factors that are most important for building competencies in the logistics sector are providing the right training on functional skill development (0.129), top management support and commitment for digitalization (0.117), and organizational culture for process digitalization (0.114), etc. Finally, framework for evaluation of manpower readiness index for logistics operations in the digital age has been illustrated for a case company.Practical implicationsIndian logistics companies can benchmark their readiness index with respect to the best in the industry. Based on the readiness index, logistics companies can analyse their position, gaps from best and worst and can also identify potential areas for improvement.Originality/valueThe novelty of the study lies in the development of a framework for manpower readiness for digitalization in the logistics sector. In literature, this field is very less researched and provides the scope for developing strategies for improving manpower competencies for Industry 4.0. Logistics companies can improve their performance by making their manpower ready based on results obtained for readiness index.
