Nowadays, tardiness has become a significant risk in the logistics industry. To address this problem, we introduce the tardiness risk index to quantify both the magnitude of the tardiness risk and the maximum probability of tardiness occurring. In this paper, we investigate the contract design problem with the tardiness risk index to mitigate the tardiness risk when a fourth-party logistics company (4PL) delegates the delivery task of a client to a third-party logistics company (3PL). Specifically, the contracts are designed in a decentralized system with information symmetry and information asymmetry when 3PL is risk neutral and risk averse. Furthermore, the incentive problems demonstrated that the 3PL is encouraged to make the optimal effort for delivery and the 4PL determines the optimal fixed payment and penalty coefficient. Through analyzing the experimental simulation results, we can find that the contract can effectively mitigate the tardiness risk and the maximum probability of risk occurrence.

The significantly changed conditions of the activity of trade-logistics enterprises place heavy demands on the accuracy of calculation and planning key indicators of competitive potential. The article formulates and solves a scientific problem, which consists in the absence of a unified approach, within which not only the strategic potential of an enterprise is assessed and key indicators of competitive potential are determined, but also a toolkit for calculating values of these indicators in the conditions of fuzzy input data is proposed. It is suggested to determine the key indicators of competitive potential based on the characteristics of the corporate profile that have the potential for temporary competitive advantages with the possibility of increasing their organization, as well as the key weaknesses of the organization. To calculate the values of the key indicators of competitive potential and their planning in the conditions of uncertainty, it is proposed to use fuzzy inference systems. The article presents the results of approbation of the developed methodological approach in a particular trade and logistics company.

Crowdsourcing logistics is a business model for the modern logistics industry. However, the employee behavior of crowdsourcing logistics remains unstable due to the dynamic nature of crowdsourcing logistics. With a small change in environmental factors, e.g., the delivery price, employee opinion may show frequent polarization or reversal that can lead to employee turnover. To explore the mechanism of sudden change in employee opinion and turnover, a cusp catastrophe model is embedded into the relative agreement (RA) model of opinion dynamics to form a catastrophe-embedded RA model. Text data about employee opinion of the crowdsourcing logistics company DaDa are collected for modeling and validation of the catastrophe-embedded RA model. Simulation experiments explore the impact of network structure and delivery price on employee opinion evolution and employee turnover. The catastrophe theory–embedded RA model extends the application of the RA model in the field of opinion dynamics with frequent polarization or reversal.

Investment in renewable energy sources by logistics companies has become commonplace. Organizations decide to invest in renewable energy sources not only for economic or environmental reasons, but because it is also prestigious for them. The aim of this article is to present the possible risk factors for a logistics company that uses or wants to implement renewable energy sources. This study identified individual risk factors and control mechanisms to reduce the likelihood of a particular risk factor occurring. In this article, the research methodology used is risk management through implementing a diagram of the risk-related decision-making processes of logistics companies around renewable energy sources. The analysis of the risk factors of renewable energy sources is an important element in assessing their effectiveness. By implementing the procedure of selecting an appropriate renewable energy source by logistic entities and implementing an element of risk management, there will be a significant positive impact on the optimal selection of a renewable energy source by enterprises.

Abstract. This paper discusses the application of forensic cartography in a civil arbitration case. This arbitration case stemmed from a hijacking of a freight of cigarettes on the 9th of May 2012. Forensic cartography in the form of a report was used to illustrate that the driver of a third-party logistics company was complicit with the crime syndicate that committed the hijacking. Cell phone data was used to map the communication between the various suspects and the driver. The time period of interest was between 15 December 2011 and 9 May 2012. The cellular base stations were used to map these communications in time and space. Based on the evidence provided it was clear that the driver of the third-party logistics company was complicit in committing the crime which led to the arbitration proceedings to be settled by the third-party logistics company in favour of the cigarette manufacturer. Further, it was concluded that the cartographic representation selection for forensic purposes is dictated by the specific case being investigated.

Objective: The choice of a logistics and freight-forwarding company by the cargo owner at the initial stage of planning the logistics chain of cargo delivery. Methods: The analysis of the logistics chain of cargo delivery, methods of deploying quality functions when choosing a transport company and expert assessment are applied. Results: A system of traditional and logistic models of forwarding, a scheme for differentiating the requirements of a cargo owner is presented, a matrix for the deployment of quality functions is built, an example of expert assessment of the parameter of a transport and logistics company is developed. Practical importance: Using the quality function deployment method makes it possible to translate the cargo owner’s requests into specifi cations and requirements. The competitiveness of the given transport and logistics company is assessed.

Abstract Vehicle scheduling is one of the most important links in logistics distribution, a large number of demands also lead to logistics companies have to reasonably arrange the transportation of vehicle routes to save costs. By optimizing the distribution routes of vehicles, logistics companies can save transportation mileage and thus save transportation costs. In this paper,10 demand points of an agricultural products logistics company in Beijing are selected, and the location of the distribution center is obtained through the center of gravity method. Finally, the route allocation is completed by using the mileage saving algorithm, and the scheduling of transport vehicles is realized. The example shows that the mileage saving algorithm can optimize the vehicle route and realize route allocation.

With the development of e-commerce, China is actively promoting the construction of logistics informatization and intelligence, and simultaneously promoting the standardized and efficient development of warehousing industry, one of the important links of logistics. It is clearly pointed out in the "Medium and Long Term Plan for the Development of the Logistics Industry" issued by the State Council that "The warehousing industry is not only the main body of the traditional logistics industry, but also an important part of the modern logistics industry. In the process of material flow, the level of storage cost has a greater impact on the development of the logistics industry." This paper chooses Sinotrans Logistics Company as the research object. Sinotrans Logistics Company is the largest integrated logistics provider in China and a national 5A comprehensive logistics enterprise. The main problems in Sinotrans warehousing management include: increased operation difficulty of cross-warehouse inventory, large order volume and delayed processing, unreasonable scheduling of warehouse staff, more idle time for warehouse staff and large difference in human efficiency per hour, etc. The key elements of these problems are the work efficiency of employees. Therefore, warehouse management needs to carry out fine scheduling of warehouse staff to improve the completion rate of orders and reduce the waste of labor costs. Keywords: Warehouse staff scheduling problem, integer programming, linear regression model, people-oriented
