How a cardiovascular patient education system can be improved: Introducing a novel model for identifying hospital educational challenges and solutions

Abstract Background: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) have always been considered by healthcare specialists for different reasons, including extensive prevalence, high cost, chronicity, and high risk of death. the recovery from CVDs is highly influenced by the behavior and lifestyle. As a result, it seems necessary to train and develop special abilities for patients and their companions, the development of efficient and effective training systems should be considered by healthcare specialists. Methods: Hence, in this study, an existing training system for cardiovascular patients is reviewed, and using field observation and targeted interviews with hospital experts, all aspects of its training process, including involved components, inputs, outputs, processes and interactions are extracted. Then the process maps of the training system are drawn up through the BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) methodology. Next, its challenges and difficulties are identified with the aid of semi-structured interviews with experts, and due to the importance and different influence of the identified problems, these challenges are prioritized using the Multi Criteria Decision Making method (MCDM). Results: The most important identified challenges included high nursing workload and shortage of time, lack of understanding of training concepts by patients, lack of attention to training, disruption of training process by the patients’ companions, and patient's weakness in understanding the standard language. In identifying the root causes, learner, educator, and educational tools are the most effective in the training process; therefore, the improvement scenarios were designed accordingly. Conclusions: In the present study, a novel framework for cardiovascular patients' education has been designed and presented based on the analysis of the results of ranking the challenges and their root causes.

Purpose This paper aims to study the conditions of the regional ecology, environment, resources and social harmony from the perspective of the new farmer-entrepreneur training process. Design/methodology/approach The study focuses on the poor conditions in relocation settlements currently developing in China. Findings The results show that the building of a new farmer-entrepreneur training system is a vital factor in the process of relocation development, where new farmer-entrepreneurs are characteristic of knowledge, innovation, openness and ambition. Originality/value For farmers participating in the program for the relocation of poor resettlements, a combination of these features is required for the process of building the new farmer-entrepreneur training-system to do well.

Training plays a key role in the human resource skills development within organizations. This lever, which should touch all aspects of the company's life and all its functions, must be generalized to all employees regardless of their level of education or their hierarchy positions. Training is a tool that allows the company to respond effectively to a more and more unpredictable and restricting environment. The importance of the training system within organizations is able to push managers to finance regular audits of training systems within their enterprises in order to identify strengths and weaknesses and propose necessary adjustments. This article is an opportunity to expose the concept of training process auditing and to provide a summary of cases of the practice of this approach within the Moroccan company as a measure to establish excellence in its training process.

Abstract Purpose Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is one of the most common forms of domestic violence, with profound implication for women's physical and psychological health. In this text we adopted the Empowerment Process Model (EPM) by Cattaneo and Goodman (Psychol Violence 5(1):84–94) to analyse interventions provided to victims of IPV by a Support Centre for Women (SCW) in Italy, and understand its contribution to women’s empowerment. Method We conducted semi-structured interviews with ten women who had been enrolled in a program for IPV survivors at a SCW in the past three years. The interviews focused on the programs’ aims, actions undertaken to reach them, and the impact on the women’s lives, and were analysed using an interpretative phenomenological approach. Results Results showed that the interventions provided by the SWC were adapted according to women's needs. In the early phases, women’s primary aim was ending violence, and the intervention by the SCW was deemed as helpful to the extent it provided psychological support, protection and safe housing. Women’s aims subsequently moved to self-actualisation and economic and personal independence which required professional training, internships, and social support. Although satisfying the majority of the women’s expectations, other important needs (e.g., economic support or legal services) were poorly addressed, and cooperation with other services (e.g., police or social services) was sometimes deemed as critical. Conclusions By evaluating a program offered by a SCW to IPV survivors through the lens of the EPM model, we found that women deemed the program as effective when both individual resources and empowerment processes were promoted. Strengths, limitations and implications are discussed.

Abstract Aim This research aims to identify response strategies that non-profit organizations (NPOs) can apply to overcome the barriers that hamper the sustainable use of mobile health (mHealth) interventions in low-resource environments (LREs), such as in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Subject and method A qualitative study on mHealth initiatives in SSA is conducted through semi-structured interviews with 15 key informants of NPOs that operate and manage mHealth interventions in this region. The interviews focus on identifying existing barriers and response strategies that NPOs apply to enable sustainable and long-term running interventions. Results Building on grounded theory techniques, the collected data guided us towards a process model that identifies four aggregated categories of challenging areas that require response strategies (economy, environment, technology, and user acceptance). Conclusion This study provides contributions from and implications for NPOs and researchers. Health practitioners are provided with a knowledge base of what barriers to expect and how to overcome them, to strive for sustainable implementation from the very beginning of an intervention. A process model is identified that structures the response strategies in a time-based agenda of mHealth initiatives and thus makes a theoretical contribution. Overall, this study addresses the need for a theoretical consideration of the “pilotitis” phenomenon, which currently hampers the sustainable implementation and scaling up of mHealth initiatives. While the focus is specifically on mHealth initiatives, the overall findings help prevent discontinuance of projects in the future after the pilot, and help facilitate LREs on their way to sustainable health interventions and universal health coverage.

In this article, we present a taxonomy in Robot-Assisted Training; a growing body of research in Human–Robot Interaction which focuses on how robotic agents and devices can be used to enhance user’s performance during a cognitive or physical training task. Robot-Assisted Training systems have been successfully deployed to enhance the effects of a training session in various contexts, i.e., rehabilitation systems, educational environments, vocational settings, etc. The proposed taxonomy suggests a set of categories and parameters that can be used to characterize such systems, considering the current research trends and needs for the design, development and evaluation of Robot-Assisted Training systems. To this end, we review recent works and applications in Robot-Assisted Training systems, as well as related taxonomies in Human–Robot Interaction. The goal is to identify and discuss open challenges, highlighting the different aspects of a Robot-Assisted Training system, considering both robot perception and behavior control.

Abstract Background Interprofessional education is one of the most important educational methods for developing team work encounter with many challenges, especially in developing countries. The purpose of this study was to identify the important challenges of Interprofessional education in Iran's medical educational system. Methodology The qualitative content analysis was used to explain the perception and experience of 15 professors and experts regarding the challenges of Interprofessional education with semi structured interviews. The interviews were analyzed with Graneheim and Lundman qualitative approach in the MAXQDA software V.12 interviews were completed. Findings According to the participants, the important challenges to designing and implementation of Interprofessional education was: 1) educational challenges, 2) structural challenges and 3) cultural challenges. Conclusion Because of the importance of Interprofessional education to enhancing medical education, policymakers need to understand the importance of IPE and address the barriers and challenges they face. Also the Structures must be created and attitudes change.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to compare the effect of the Y-trellis and vertical shoot position trellis (VSP) training systems on the physicochemical composition and aromatic profile of 'Sauvignon Blanc' (Vitis vinifera) wines in a high-altitude region of the state of Santa Catarina, Southern Brazil. The experiment was conducted during the 2015 vintage in a commercial vineyard located in the municipality of São Joaquim. The treatments consisted of the training systems: Y-trellis and VSP pruned in spur cordon. Sixty kilograms of grapes were harvested from each training system to make the wines, which were evaluated as to their chemical and phenolic composition and aromatic profile. There is no effect of the training system on the wine chemical variables pH, total acidity, color, and total polyphenols. The aromatic profile and phenolic composition of the wines are affected by the training systems, being related to the variables ethyl acetate, isoamyl acetate, 3-methyl-1-butanol, propanoic acid, and gallic acid in the Y-trellis, and to 1-hexanol, isovaleric acid, caprylic acid, capric acid, and catechin in VSP. The Y-trellis system can be an alternative for high-altitude regions of Southern Brazil.

The article is devoted to the substantiation of the relevance of the use of modern sports in general and general physical training in particular in the training system of students. The paper considers the actual problems of improving the physical fitness of students who study at higher military educational institutions during the period of primary sports training. The possibilities of increasing the effectiveness of the training process have been investigated. The analysis of modern scientific and literary sources gives grounds to assert that the system of sports training has a significant positive effect on the general level of well-being, facilitating the learning process and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The purpose of the article is to form and implement innovative forms of sports education for students and further experimental verification of the developed program.
