Abstract Present work investigates the detailed multiferroic properties of Pb1 − xSmxTi1−xFexO3, (x = 0.21, 0.22, 0.23, 0.24 and 0.25) synthesize through solid state reaction route. The structural, dielectric, ferroelectric and magnetic properties were measured. A sincere study is carried out to detect the magneto-electric coupling in all the samples through magneto-dielectric, magnetization after electric poling and magneto-pe response. The maximum value of coupling coefficient (γ) and magneto-dielectric response (MDR) of sample x = 0.24 has shown by magneto-dielectric properties and magnetization after electric poling whereas magneto-pe has shown that all the samples possess multiferroic nature.

CaCu 3 Ti 4 O 12 ( CCTO ) ceramics were prepared by the solid-state reaction route. Effect of sintering time was studied on the polarization (P) versus electric field (E) behavior. Unlike conventional ferroelectric hysteresis loop, PE hysteresis behavior in CCTO ceramics was observed to exhibit ferroelectric-like loop where polarization does not saturate but gives a maximum value. Remnant polarization and maximum polarization was observed to increase with sintering time. Current (I)–voltage (V) characteristics shows a nonlinear behavior making them useful for varistor applications. Coefficient of non-linearity (α) is also found to depend on sintering duration.

Goal of the present research was to study dielectric properties of BiNbO4 ceramics fabricated by solid state reaction route followed with pressureless sintering. The samples were fabricated from the mixture of oxides, viz. Nb2O5 and Bi2O3. Apart from stoichiometric amount an excess of 3%, 5% and 10% by mole of Bi2O3 was used. It was found that an excess amount of Bi2O3 oxide caused formation of Bi5Nb3O15 minor phase in amount of 9wt%, 18wt% and 25wt%, respectively. The dielectric properties were studied by impedance spectroscopy within the frequency range ν=20Hz1MHz and temperature range T=RT550°C. It was found that the presence of the minor phase in amount of 18wt% caused a decrease in dielectric losses of the material under studies.

Sr(Bi1-xSmx)8Ti7O27 ceramics were prepared by Sm2O3-substitution for Bi2O3 through solid-state reaction route. The dielectric properties of the sintered bodies such as er, Q and tf were investigated. The ceramics were characterized by SEM, XRD, DTA and TG, which behaved high dielectric constant of 128 ~154 at the frequency of 10 GHz.

In this paper, crystallinic FeB nanoflowers were successfully prepared at 500°C for 8h with FeCl3 and NaBH4 as the reactants. Field-emission scanning electronic microscope (FESEM) and transmission electronic microscope (TEM) images showed that the flowers composed of thin flakes are in the thickness of about 30 nm. More significantly, this is the first time to synthesize crystallinic FeB nanoflowers self-assembled by thin flake. Magnetic measurement showed that the flowers were a kind of soft magnetic materials (Hc = 600 Oe, Mr = 34.6 emu/g).

By introducing Ti vacancies for valence compensation, Nd-doped SrTiO3 ceramics yielding the formula NdxSr1-xTi1-x/4O3 (0≤x≤0.200) were successfully prepared by solid state reaction route in air. All the ceramics had single perovskite structure indexed by XRD profiles, while the symmetry changed from cubic to tetragonal with increasing x value. The grain size markedly decreased from ~30 μm for un-doped SrTiO3 ceramics to ~1 μm for NdxSr1-xTi1-x/4O3 ceramics with x=0.024, which was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The dielectric properties were measured at 1 kHz in ambient temperature. The dielectric constant was found to be leading to a maximum value of 5410 for as-sintered sample with x=0.104. The breakdown strength of all NdxSr1-xTi1-x/4O3 samples was examined to be higher than 10 kV/mm. These results indicated that Nd-doped SrTiO3 ceramics could be used to fabricate high voltage capacitors with enhanced energy storage density.
