Education is an important mechanism of sustainable development implementation. Education for sustainable development (ESD) is one of the priorities of international organizations (UN, UNESCO, and other), and national governments from the beginning of the 1990s. Experience generated over three decades of implementation of ESD, as well as theoretical studies show that a whole-institution approach is required for effective furthering of ESD. Withing this approach the priorities shift from including ESD issues into a few selected subjects or events to applying ESD as a foundation for the entire functioning of an educational institution (including management and budget, education, professional development, campus design, resource use, community relations etc). The research presented in the article has been completed using systemic, problematic, and comparative approaches. Ecological systems theory and educational design are suggested as theoretical and methodological foundations for the whole institution approach. They point at the need to take into consideration child’s natural and socio-cultural environment in designing education systems. The article considers practical cases (for example, international “Eco-schools” network, Anglo-American school and other) which can be replicated in and by other organizations.

Abstract The Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences at Notre Dame University - Louaize, conscious to the need of experts in the emerging field of sustainability and to the role that an educational institution plays for the service of the community, introduced into the university curricula a major in environmental science. This paper will present the programme’s components, goals and implementation. The curriculum encompasses natural, social and managerial sciences, given the interdisciplinary nature of environmental science. Topical courses on water, soil and air pollution, environmental impact assessment and environmental ethics were designed, which integrate theory and practice. The graduates are prepared for managerial, communication and, most importantly, ethical competences to be able to implement best practices in environmental protection and play an active role in the community, especially the public, private, industrial and educational domains. At an inter-faculty level, the programme was successful in offering general education requirements courses on environment, sustainability and ethics, which helped in raising sustainability awareness among the students’ population and strengthened the inter-faculty community relationships. To the present, the main focus of the programme was on education and preparation of graduates for the job market. Research, community outreach and campus sustainability practices need to be further addressed. Therefore, primary efforts should be exerted to improve the outcomes at these domains, especially that the university now joined the international educational programme: RUCAS - Tempus project, which emphasises development and improvements at all the institution sectors.

This article is aimed at theoretical comprehension of foreign and domestic experience in designing and implementing education for sustainable development and creating a technological model of advanced education in a technical university in the interests of sustainable development. Constructing a technological model that includes an integrated system of pedagogical technologies aimed at the formation of personal achievements and opportunities. Each student constructs and reconstructs their own capabilities based on reflection, which can act as a universal goal of using the models of anticipatory learning technologies, being also the result of anticipatory education. The analysis shows that the transition to sustainable development starts with forming a strategy implemented in education for sustainable development. The study considers the basics of the modern vision of sustainable development: the environmental component and education model. Moreover, the education model is considered from the perspective of the future as a forwardlooking education. The paper uses methods of analysis of philosophical, psychological, and pedagogical research and synthesis of theoretical ideas on the problem of conceptualization, design, and modeling, which allowed highlighting the main trends of scientific search in the world and domestic theory and practice of advanced education in terms of its sustainable development. The concept of sustainable development is considered from different positions of domestic and foreign researchers. Experience of education for sustainable development implementation both in Russia and other countries of the world shows that so far, sustainable development in education is represented in the environmental sense; therefore modeling of system concept of education for sustainable development and optimal ways of its implementation is actualized.

The article discusses the principles of education for sustainable development and examples of their implementation in the context of the ecological culture formation. The subject of the study is environmental education for sustainable development. The aim of this research is to formulate the principles of education for sustainable development and to show the ways of their practical implementation. The research uses the comparative approach with elements of hypothetical-deductive analysis. As a result of the study, a set of interrelated principles determining education for sustainable development was defined: continuity, inclusiveness, interdisciplinarity, integration, unity of theory and practice. The results of this study can be used in educational practice in the creation and implementation of curricula and courses, as methodological recommendations for the work of volunteer organizations and educational environmental activities. The results can be used in the sustainable development programs designed by the administrative authorities. Environmental education is an important tool for implementing the concept of sustainable development. Thus, the outlined educational principles should become the basis of educational practices and technologies aimed at the formation of ecological culture and the ecologization of consciousness.

The shortcomings of the strategic management of industrial enterprises are due to the fall in the growth rates of the world and domestic economy, international sanctions, and the specifics of the development of socio-economic relations in the Russian Federation. The main problem of the research is related to the imperfection of the strategic management of the investment policy of the enterprise, which leads to a slowdown in the development of the company and a decrease in competitiveness. The main goal of the presented research is to develop proposals for improving the strategic management model for the development and implementation of investment strategies of an industrial enterprise. Based on the analysis of theoretical sources, gaps in research related to the topic and objectives of this work are highlighted. The methodological base of the research is determined, the basis of which are: system theory, systematic approach to managing a company’s sustainable development, theory and practice of modeling, strategic management, investment design. The improved model is proposed, which determines the interdependence of the strategic management of investment policy and the sustainable economic development of the company, presents the algorithm for managing the process of developing investment strategies in an industrial enterprise. Regional development is a field of research and a discipline of study that transcends several fields of social sciences, and can be studied by students in the fields of administrative, political, economic, social and humanistic sciences and others that include this subject in the curriculum. Regional development is also an attribute of public administration in all Member States of the European Union, as well as outside Europe, with ministries dedicated to implementing balanced regional development policies. Therefore, the book written by the author Daniela Antonescu, “Dezvoltarea regională. Teorie și practică” [Regional development. theory and practice], published by Lumen Publishing House in Iași, Romania, in 2019, who I consider a great specialist in this field (as she is the organizer of a conference on this topic, that attracts specialists from Romania and abroad), addresses a broad public of readers: both researchers and teachers concerned with development issues, as well as civil servants, members of national governments or parliaments, MEPs, members of other international fora, concerned with regional development, which includes not only the region as a territory but also subdivisions at local level: county, municipality / city, commune, village, on a case-by-case basis.

The triple bottom line refers to economic, environmental, and social value of an investment and is related to the concept of sustainable development. The triple bottom line is increasingly salient to economic development related disciplines, yet the topic has received little attention within the field of economic development. This study offers three substantive responses to that gap. First, triple bottom line economic development is introduced and defined. Second, research regarding whether and how practitioners prioritize and engage in triple bottom line economic development is presented. Third, implications for the field are considered, including the centrality of the concept to economic development and recommendations to advance theory and practice in this regard.

I discuss the nature and genesis of international development ethics as well as its current areas of consensus, controversies, challenges, and agenda. A relatively new field of applied ethics, international development ethics is ethical reflection on the ends and means of socioeconomic change in poor countries and regions. It has several sources: criticism of colonialism and post-World War II developmental strategies; Denis Goulet's writings; Anglo-American philosophical debates about the ethics of famine relief; and Paul Streeten's and Amartya Sen's approaches to development. Development ethicists agree that the moral dimension of development theory and practice is just as important as the scientific and policy components. What is often called "development" (e.g., economic growth) may be bad for people, communities, and the environment. Hence, the process of development should be reconceived as beneficial change, usually specified as alleviating human misery and environmental degradation in poor countries.
