Firmware applications such as security codes, magnetic keys, and similar products can be stored in magnetic bar codes similar to optical bar codes. This can be achieved on the triangular lattice present in porous alumina, whose pori can be filled by magnetic material, over which magnetic bar codes can be inscribed. We study the conditions to improve the durability of the stored information by minimizing the repulsive energy among wires with parallel magnetization within the same bar but interacting with attractive energy with wires in the neighboring bar. The following parameters are varied to minimize the energy of the system: relative amount of magnetization orientation within the bar code area in any orientation, width of the bars, and distribution of wider bars to the outside or to the inside of the code. It is found that durability of the code is favored for equal amount of magnetization in each direction, abundance of narrow bars trying to locate a few wider ones towards the center. Three real commercial optical bar codes taken at random were mapped into magnetic bar codes; it is found that the corresponding magnetic energies are similar to those analyzed here which provides a realistic test for this approach.

AbstractBiFeO3 nanopowders with new morphology have been synthesized by different methods. X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared and vibrating sample magnetometer were carried out at room temperature to study the structural and magnetic properties of as-synthesized products. VSM was utilized to measure the size-dependent magnetic behaviors of the as-prepared nanoparticles. Results show that the method has strong effect on the purity of the products. BFO synthesized by third method was pure. Crystallite size has a great effect on the magnetic properties. According to these results the nanoparticle diameter is smaller than the critical single-domain diameter, avoiding the configuration of magnetic domain walls decreases the magnetization. Even though the diameter of particle becomes even smaller, the thermal stability of the magnetization orientation decreases.

Laser-induced magnetization dynamics in Gd[Formula: see text]Fe[Formula: see text]Co[Formula: see text] (GdFeCo) film was investigated by time-resolved magneto-optical effect. After an ultrafast demagnetization and a magnetization recovery process, a second slower drop from several picoseconds (ps) to 200[Formula: see text]ps was observed. Previous report explained it as the demagnetization of Gd sublattice. However, when timescale extended up to 5 nanosecond (ns), we identified it as the part of an oscillated magnetization precession. It presents the change of magnetization orientation rather than the change of magnetization amplitude. Our results reveal that the low thermal diffusion coefficient of GdFeCo film plays an important role in the laser-induced magnetization dynamics of GdFeCo film.
