This research aims to identify one of the methods of statistical quality control, which is represented in the indicators of the Capability Process and explains its importance and how to use it for knowing the extension of the process to fulfill the specifications through several indicators with a statement that through practical application on one of the pharmaceutical products (Paramol Tablets Weights) one of the products of Yemeni Drug Company for Industry and Commerce (YEDCO). Hence, the results showed that the permits of process specifications of the tablet weight are equal to about 5 standard deviations, which is less than the standard practices, which are 8 standard deviations. Therefore, the capacity of the process for tablet weight is Cp<1, which is an undesirable state; because the production process is unable to satisfy the specifications. The CPK indicator shows that the process is decentralized and hence the inability of the process to fulfill the specifications; therefore, the company has to revise the limits of Paramol tablet weights specifications and to expand it as the company adopts numerous pharmacopeias in its operations. It must select the pharmacopeia that gives specifications which can make the process capability indicator and the index of process concentration in their standard state (Cp, Cpk=1.33mg).

Statistical quality control is a set of tools and techniques that allows to verify, monitor and control the variability of processes to improve product quality and business competitiveness. The objective of this study was to evaluate the pasta production process of a company that belongs to the food industry sector in terms of stability and compliance of quality specifications. The Six Sigma improvement methodology was used, which focuses on identifying and eliminating the causes of variation in the processes. Data collection was accomplished by the use of different techniques, such as: interviews, brainstorming, review of documents, teamwork and direct observation. In addition, process documentation techniques and classical quality tools including Pareto chart, control charts, process capability analysis, histogram, Ishikawa diagram and experimental design were used. Multivariate data reduction techniques were also applied. The results showed for the quality characteristic Humidity that the process is out of statistical control and it is uncapable to meet the required specifications, for which the causes were investigated and improvement actions were proposed, achieving an increase in the sigma quality level.

ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to evaluate the use of statistical quality control tools in the analysis of the uniformity of a microsprinkler irrigation system. For the analysis of irrigation Christiansen uniformity coefficient (CUC) and the distribution uniformity coefficient (DU) were statistically analyzed by means of the Shewhart control charts and process capability index (Cp). For the experiment 25 tests were carried out with a single micro sprinkler and subsequently seven different spacing between micro sprinklers were simulated. Control charts contributed to the diagnosis of the treatments to be under control and with satisfactory uniformity outcomes. Increase in process capability index was directly proportional to the average of CUC and DU.

In a manufacturing industry, often the quality characteristic under study is found to have only one of the two specification limits viz., upper specification limit (USL) or lower specification limit (LSL). In such cases the process capability indices (PCI) designed for bilateral specifications become inappropriate. However, in the literature only a few indices are available to address this problem. In the present paper, we have made an extensive study of the PCI's for unilateral specifications with a brief discussion of their possible fields of applications and drawbacks, if any. We have also proposed a logical formulation of a parameter of one of these indices which reduces the subjectivity of the index and hence makes it more suitable for practical application. An example, with the computed values of the various PCI's, is discussed to make a comparative study of the performance and inter-relationship between these PCI's. We have concluded the paper with a discussion on the future scope of study in this field.

2.64% is the largest defect percentage of aerosol can product of PT Multi Makmur Indah Industri. To improve the product quality, the study focused on the goal of reducing the percentage of defects using the Statistical Quality Control. After gaining control of the company, we can calculate the process capability in the aerosol can manufacture. The next step is identification of the defects causes that arise using the failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) method to measure the defect causes risks and as an input in determining control recommendations. From the observations and data processing, it is recognized that the overall phase of the process has a process capability value above 99%. 80% of defects in the aerosol cans product occur during the process of can making, component making and printing. While the most risking defect cause is the destruction ofmachine B coating on the printing process (RPN = 245) and the quality of the welding wire on can manufacturing process (RPN = 160). Therefore, the solution to reduce the defect percentage is replacing the damaged coating machine B as well as upgrading the quality of the welding wire. Thus, it can reduce the losssale as much as 1.06% (Rp110,716,000) per month.

A more tight and high business competition in domestic as well as international marketencourage the company gain better quality product. Consequently, it needs continous improvingeffort toward the process capability, human, machine and environment. It is realized by PT.Timur Selatan at Pare Kediri for it product. The frequent problems emerged are whether theproduct quality including widt, lengt and moisture content according the spesification, whetherthese are delinquencies then what action in needed for good quality. The Aim of this research are : 1). To know whether the product quality ( width, lengthand moisture content) fulfills the specification 2). to know whether is delinquency happened fromcontrol limit. 3). What action are needed for the delinquency improvment. While the purposedhypothesis is the product quality has fulfill the specification and statistic controlling limit. The research is conducted at PT. Timur Selatan Pare kediri, the research methodology isusing the primary data from direct observation and secondary data from company. The dataanalysis is done by applying Statistical Quality Control which uses control X and R chart. The result shows that for the width and moistureContent are in the specification except the length. While for the satistical control shows in controllimit for the length and moisture content except width. The process capability is low for length (0,5479) and mioisture content (0,4018), so it is necessary to increase the process capability.Besides the variable quality is also caused by human factor, machine and equipment.Kata kunci : laminating board, quality control, Control X and R chart
