After more than half century has passed, urban sprawl remains as one of the most important and unresolved matters in the urban development process. This paper adopts “Bibliometrics Analysis” technique, which is a statistical analysis of scientific publications to review the studies on urban sprawl from the year 1996 till 2015 in order to identify the fundamental issues and problem of urban sprawl. This method allows the researcher to review the literature of topic of interest critically, not only based on national and international networks but includes the multi-disciplinary fields of science and technology relating to urban planning. The publications on urban sprawl were retrieved from the two largest scientific databases namely Scopus and ScienceDirect. The sampling of publications was based on the “Most Cited Articles” indicator. The findings on urban sprawl issues and problems are presented in four categories, which are the lack of consensus in defining urban sprawl, unavailability of method to quantify urban sprawl, access to data and tools, and varying urban sprawl patterns based on area. The findings of this study provide the gap for future research on urban sprawl.

Bibliometric analysis is the application of statistical methods to quantitatively analyze scientific publications. It makes it possible to evaluate the production of a laboratory, a journal or a field of research. The objective of this study is to carry out an analysis of the scientific literature published on succession in the field of family business over the last thirty years. Two different types of indicators were used. The first concerns the activity indicators, which provides information about the productivity of journals and authors. The second is about co-citation analysis which gives an idea of the links between researchers, and co-word analysis which identifies interactions and relationships between different research topics. The results obtained reveal that it is a relatively recent area of research with strong connections between authors. Gaps in the literature as well as future research directions are also presented.

Background: Bibliometric analysis can analyze development trends and predict research hotspots. We used these analyses to better understand pregnancy-related implications of thyroid diseases. Methods: Publications on thyroid diseases during pregnancy from 1926 to hitherto were retrieved based on the Web of Science database. The publications and references, the institutions and countries, the journals, the keywords and citations, were analyzed by utilizing VOSviewer, CiteSpace and Cit-NetExplorer. Results: A total of 3310 publications were retrieved and were cited 87913 times. The United States took the dominant position in outputs and collaborations. Harvard University had the most articles 86, which also had the highest h-index 30. Thyroid ranked first with 201 publications and Journal of Clinical Endocrinology Metabolism had the highest h-index 67. Among the 49 burst keywords, "antibody" had the longest burst period from 1991 to 2012, "thyroxine" had the strongest burst strength 16.7026, "hypothyroxinemia" appeared most recently in 2018. The most frequent keyword was "pregnancy" occurred 1324 times. All the top 98 frequent keywords were clustered into 4 clusters. The citation network visualization was grouped into 8 groups. Conclusion: The research focus of thyroid diseases in pregnancy ranged from clinical thyroid dysfunction to milder thyroid dysfunction. Guidelines published by the American Thyroid Association enacted a crucial purpose in the treatment and development of thyroid diseases during pregnancy. Some randomized controlled studies of unresolved problems and long-term follow-up of offspring may be the direction of future research. In the meantime, bibliometric methods can help scholars choose journals, track research hotspots, and identify the direction or focus of future research.

One of the principle criticisms of urban sprawl is that it undermines the cost-effective provision of public services. In this paper the authors examine whether or not this is true through an exploratory analysis of the influence that alternative development patterns have on twelve measures of public expenditure: total direct, capital facilities, roadways, other transportation, sewerage, trash collection, housing and community development, police protection, fire protection, parks, education, and libraries. The objectives of the analysis are threefold. First, the authors, through a background discussion, provide a brief overview of previous research on the relationship between urban development patterns and the cost of public services. Second, through empirical analysis, they examine how the character of urban development affects per capita public outlays in a cross-section of 283 metropolitan counties during the 1982–92 time period. A separate equation is estimated for each measure of expenditure, providing substantive evidence on how density, the spatial extent of urbanized land area, property value, and political fragmentation affect the cost of services. Finally, the authors use the results of the empirical analysis to develop a set of policy recommendations and directions for future research.

Over the past few decades, there has been a significant increase in the number of studies about the use of remote sensing techniques for the monitoring of inland waters. Since these aquatic environments have multiple uses for mankind, monitoring them is essential for the environment, society, and the economy. The use of Earth Observations data for the monitoring of inland waters is important for water quantity and quality management. Because of this, the goal of the present study is to systematically analyze and visualize the evolution of publications in this field. This study will not focus on algorithm comparisons or descriptions; instead, it will use a co-citation analysis to map the relationship among publications. Using the Web of Science database, publications related to the terms, “remote sensing” + “inland waters”, were analyzed using the entire database. The bibliometric analysis showed how research topics evolved from measuring optical properties and understanding their signal to the development of remote sensing algorithms and their applications to satellite imagery. This study provides the historical development of the scientific publications in this field and points out what could be the direction for future research.

Food markets have, at least, two dimensions. One is related to supply, where food marketing, for example, plays a determinant role, namely to promote healthy and balanced consumption. The other dimension is associated with demand, where it is important to understand and bring insights about consumer attitudes, because they have implications on patterns of food consumption. In this framework, the main objective of this research is to suggest an alternative approach for conducting systematic reviews based on bibliometric analysis and implement it on topics about food and consumer attitudes. For this purpose, the most important bibliographic items (authors, sources, organizations, countries and documents) were identified and later the most relevant documents were reviewed. In addition, 908 documents were selected on 11 December 2020 from the Web of Science Core Collection, for the topics “food” and “consumer attitude*”, and analyzed through bibliometric analysis with the support of the VOSviewer and Gephi software. These documents were also benchmarked with those available in the Scopus scientific database. The approach presented here made it possible to highlight the main insights from the scientific literature related to consumer attitudes to food and bring about further contributions to a literature review supported by bibliometric analysis. This proposal may be known as MB2MBA2 (Methodology Based on Benchmarking of Metadata, from scientific databases, and Bibliometric Assessment and Analysis). This systematic review highlights that organic foods, food neophobia, climate change, marketing strategies and interrelationships between motivations–consumer attitudes–perceptions–purchase intentions–purchase decisions (MAPID) deserved special attention. In addition, MAPID interactions are impacted, among other dimensions, by labelling, branding and trust in the information provided. Future research should further address impacts on consumer attitudes towards food, such as those related to climate-smart agriculture, food 4.0, food security and protection, and climate change and malnutrition.
