The samples of homogeneous (x = 0; 0.1; 0.2) and multilayer ceramics with “oncoming” compositional gradient (x = 0.2→0→0.2) based on solid solutions of nickel – zinc ferrites (Ni1–xZnx) Fe2O4 have been prepared by thick-film technology. It was possible to ensure the synthesis of ceramics and to maintain inhomogeneous distribution of chemical elements throughout the thickness of the graded samples using the two-stage mode of heat treatment. Microstructure and crystal structure of the materials are studied. It is shown that the volume of the unit cell increases with increasing zinc content, while the grain size does not change significantly. The features of the magnetization of multilayer structures were investigated for two variants of application of external magnetic field (parallel and perpendicular to the sample plane). The resulting hysteresis loop for multilayer graded sample can be obtained by “summing up” the loops of homogeneous layers of the structure. No internal fields leading to a shift and distortion of the magnetic hysteresis loops were detected.

Abstract We report the observation of exchange bias in a ferromagnetic Ga0.94Mn0.06As0.77P0.23/ Ga0.94Mn0.06As bilayer, in which the easy axis in one layer is oriented out-of-plane, and in the other in-plane. Magnetization reversal in this system is explored using planar Hall effect (PHE) measurements under various initial conditions and with various field-cooling orientations. Our results show that the two magnetic layers are ferromagnetically exchange-coupled, and that such coupling results in pronounced exchange-bias-like shifts of magnetic hysteresis loops during reversal of in-plane magnetization. The presence of exchange bias in this system can be understood on the basis of magnetic closure domains formed in the layer with the out-of-plane easy axis.

Magnetic properties of the high T c superconductors BiSrCaCuO and TlBaCaCuO were investigated systematically. Magnetic current densities were calculated from magnetic hysteresis loops of bulk and powdered samples by Bean model. The results showed that flux pinning in these materials is much weaker than that in YBaCuO.

The effect of plastic tensile deformation on changes in density and magnetic behaviour has been studied on low-carbon steel specimens under hydrostatic pressure of 0.1 to 500 MPa in a test chamber. It has been shown that the parameters of minor magnetic hysteresis loops can be used to estimate the amount of plastic strain and the strain-related structural damage of metal.
