Hydrocephalus is an accumulation of excessive fluid in durameter or ventricles of the brain (Purohit et al., 2012) thereby leading to the swelling of the cranium. It is mainly due to abnormal development of the fetus duringpregnancy; however, hereditary, infectious, and nutritional factors can also predispose this condition. This condition has been reported occasionally in the ewe, doe, mare, and sow, whilst it is rarely seen in cattle and buffalo 2001). Hydrocephalus occurs mainly due to three reasons, as excessive production of CSF, defective absorption of CSF,and interference in the passage of CSF. Hydrocephalus may cause increased intracranial cerebral pressure, progressive enlargement of the head, convulsions, mental disability, and even death. This communication describes a case of congenital hydrocephalous in a day-old female cattle calf.

Background Transorbital intracranial penetrating injury is rare. Damage caused by a huge metallic foreign body is very critical and life-threatening. Method We report an extremely rare case of transorbital intracranial penetrating metal strip (a car windshield wiper), which has not previously been reported in the literature. Results Emergency craniotomy was performed; the object was removed successfully, and the patient's life was saved. Conclusion With the life-threatening penetrating brain injury caused by a huge foreign body, prompt surgical treatment and comprehensive postoperative treatment are important to save patients' lives.

<p><strong>Objective</strong>. The aim of this report was to describe the occurrence of a bacterial brain abscess in a healthy individual, without any predisposing condition. <strong>Case report</strong>. A thirteen-year old boy was admitted to the Department of Neurosurgery after the onset of vomiting, headache and dizziness. A neurological deficit was detected during the physical examination so urgent magnetic resonance imaging of the brain was performed, revealing an intrahemispheric, right positioned solitary expansive mass with ring enhancement. Purulent material was obtained during osteoplastic craniotomy with total extirpation of the brain abscess. Aggregatibacter aphrophilus and Bacteroides uniformis were isolated. The patient’s general condition improved and the neurological deficit subsided as a result of the prompt recognition and treatment of this life threatening condition. <strong>Conclusion</strong>. To achieve a favourable clinical outcome, prompt recognition and surgical treatment of a brain abscess are of primary importance,followed by administration of appropriate antimicrobial therapy. To our best knowledge, this is the first report of this combination of microorganisms as the cause of a brain abscess.</p>

Hydrocephalus condition is described either as an external or an internal. In the external hydrocephalus (Vidya Sagar et al., 2010), fluid accumulates in the subarachnoid space exterior to the brain, whereas in the internal hydrocephalus fluid accumulates in the ventricles of the brain. There are several forms of congenital deformity in the bovine fetus. Among them, congenital hydrocephalus has been described in cattle (Purohit et al., 2006; Dar et al., 2012; Ravikumar et al., 2013; Tripathi et al., 2014; Prakash et al., 2016; Megahed, 2017; Chhetri et al., 2018 ) and buffalo (Salunke et al., 2001; Kumaresan et al., 2003; Pandey et al., 2010). The diagnosis of the condition is easy if the fetus is in an anterior presentation. In fetuses with very large heads, puncture of the head with a trochar is advocated to relieve dystocia, along with routine obstetric maneuvers (Salunke et al., 2001) Sometimes, the calf may be born normally (Vidya Sagar et al., 2010) or by cesarean section when required (Kumaresan et al., 2003; Megahed, 2017). This paper aims to report a case of fetal hydrocephalus delivered per vaginally after obstetrical management in a Tharparker cow.

AbstractThis report highlights an unusual variation of Anterior communicating artery of the circle of Willis found during dissection for studying circle of Willis. The brain was carefully extracted out of the skull so that arteries forming the circle of Willis do not get tom. The circle of Willis was identified in the interpeduncular cistern. Fine dissection was done to identify any variations. In this specimen there were double anterior communicating arteries joined in the midline by a short longitudinal segment of artery. Length and external diameters of both the Anterior communicating arteries were measured using Vernier calipers. Also, a medial striate artery (recurrent artery of Heubner) was seen originating from the right anterior cerebral artery just between the junctions of the proximal and distal Anterior communicating arteries with the right Anterior cerebral artery. Knowledge of this variation is valuable to neurosurgeons in planning surgical treatment and has clinical significance in relation to stroke.

Cavernous hemangiomas are benign tumours of mesodermal origin. Even though various localizations of hemangioma have been described in the literature, its occurrence in the greater omentum is very rare. Only symptomatic hemangiomas are indicated for surgical treatment. There are case reports presenting resection or surgical removal of the greater omentum with hemangioma because of mechanical syndrome, consumption coagulopathy, bleeding, infection or suspicion of a malignancy. This article presents a case report of a patient operated on for a suspicion of carcinomatosis of the greater omentum. Histological examination found hemangiomatosis in the resected greater omentum.

Osteomyelitis of maxillofacial skeleton is common in developing countries such as India. This case report describes successful surgical treatment of chronic suppurative osteomyelitis {CSO} of the mandible of a 35yr old female. The precipitating factor was thought to be eventful extraction in the {left } posterior body at the inferior border of mandible. Methods: Presurgical course of antibiotics ( Amoxycillin and metronidazole for 7 days and later followed by doxycycline for 1 month).Surgical debridement of the affected bone and reinforcing it with reconstruction plate using AO principles was done . Patient was kept on a high nutrient diet consisting of proteins. Conclusion: The case report demonstrates the typical features of CSO . The combination of the antibiotics therapy and surgical debridement was successful in the treatment of chronic suppurative osteomylitis.
