The purpose of this article is to describe the Training Effectiveness Algorithm. The Training Effectiveness Algorithm is to provide a systematic procedure for identifying the cause of a reported training problem in a training system or program within an ongoing organization. This Algorithm was developed for use in the U.S. Navy's submarine program. As a two step procedure it uses job incumbents and available resources to analyze and identify problems within the training program. Its usefulness for assisting in programs outside of the Navy becomes apparent.

✓ Walter Edward Dandy (1886–1946) began his surgical training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1910 and joined the faculty in 1918. During the next 28 years at Johns Hopkins, Dandy established a neurosurgery residency training program that was initially part of the revolutionary surgical training system established by William S. Halsted but eventually became a separate entity. Dandy’s residents were part of his “Brain Team,” a highly efficient organization that allowed Dandy to perform over 1000 operations per year, not counting ventriculograms. This team also provided rigorous training in the Halsted mold for the neurosurgical residents. Although exacting and demanding, Dandy was universally admired by his residents and staff. This article describes Dandy’s neurosurgical residency program at Johns Hopkins, and provides personal recollections of training under Walter Dandy.

As a crucial part of China’s healthcare reform, the Chinese Standardized Residency Training Program was released in mainland China in 2013. At the end of 2014, 55000 resident physicians had been trained in 8500 residency programs from 559 hospitals across the country. In 2016, the national government initiated the Chinese Subspecialty Fellowship Training Program (CSFTP) with the aim to establish an initial framework of the training by 2020. On June 12, 2017, the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, directly affiliated with the National Health and Family Planning Commission of China, officially announced the first group of hospitals for the pilot phase of CSFTP in three subspecialties, including neurosurgery, respiratory and critical care medicine, and cardiovascular disease. This paper highlights the current status and challenges of chinese residency and fellowship training system.

With the application of artificial intelligence in many social fields, the research of human behavior recognition and non-contact detection of human physiological parameters based on face recognition and other technologies has developed rapidly, and the application of artificial intelligence in culture, sports and entertainment has also begun to rise. How to apply the existing mature technology to the sports intelligence training system taking table tennis as an example is a hot issue worthy of study. In this paper, a comprehensive intelligent table tennis training system and platform based on Convolutional Neural Network face recognition and face heart rate detection is designed, which is mainly used to solve the philosophical training problem in table tennis. In the system place, an identification cameras is set at the entrance of table tennis training places, which is used for table tennis players’ sign-in and training table number allocation, and an intelligent analysis cameras is set above each intelligent training table, which is used for detecting the face and heart rate of table tennis players. Each intelligent training platform consists of intelligent voice control unit, server, camera, industrial control computer, monitor and other terminal modules. The member data center constitutes the platform of intelligent table tennis training system.

The certificate in healthcare interpreting (CHI) is a medical signed language interpreter training program in the U.S. This qualitative study consisted of focus groups to examine the effect of CHI on graduates' views of their role, responsibilities, and decision latitude. Analysis suggests that CHI may be shifting practitioners from a restrictive conduit model (taking no action when faced with a decision) to a values-based approach. Also outlined are features of the program that contribute to this shift.

HR practitioners time and again busy in finding the worth of their training programs. Outputs of training/Training Effectiveness/ROI of training programs are taking a huge attention of any HR department in any organization. Often attention was paid to the training program itself, the training environment, the trainer and the organizational climate and culture to apply the same into work. But many a times the very important part i.e. trainees were left aside. Present research is an attempt to address this gap. Trainees though found to be an important factor in success of any training program often this factor is limited to theoretical analysis. Rarely organizations and particularly the training department dare to ponder this. The type of trainee or in other way the characteristic of a trainee is found to be influential in many of the researches earlier. Here the attempt is to measure the link between the level of engagement and the perception of training effectiveness of the same trainees. This will help the training department to be more cautious while choosing their trainees to deliver an effective training program to fetch a dream achieved.

Engaged Driver Training System (EDTS) is a tablet-based training method which was developed to elevate hazard perception skills of teen drivers. The objective was to investigate the effectiveness of the EDTS training program on drivers’ hazard perception skills in driving situations. Drivers’ situation awareness was measured by mapping eye movements and verbal protocols of teen drivers to Endsley’s model of situation awareness. Thirty-two drivers were randomly assigned to two groups: the experimental and placebo group. Drivers’ situation awareness was first measured at one week and six months after training via an 8-mile on road drive. The situation awareness of drivers in two groups were compared with each other’s in four categories of driving scenarios: crosswalks, turns, 4-way intersections, and rotary. Results show that in most of the categories the EDTS training had both short-term and long-term positive effects on drivers’ hazard perception skills.

This article is about School-Based Initial Teacher Training (SBITT) programs practiced in the USA and the UK. The article briefly discusses how US teacher-training programs began in 1839, as Normal School in New England. They then later became university based traditional teacher-training programs across the country. Then it shows how a gradual change in teacher training came into the U.S. in the 1980s with the introduction of school-based teacher training as an alternative route. Although most teachers in the U.S are still trained in colleges and universities, the paper shows that many states still pursue alternative routes to teacher credentialing and focus on school-based training The next part is a brief narration of the history of school-based teacher training in the UK, which began in the early 19th century. In the later part of 1800s, teacher training was favored at universities in the UK and more colleges were opened to facilitate training teachers at higher education institutions (HEI). In the late 1900s, there was an emergence of School-Based Initial Teacher Training (SBITT) programs developed as a result of a shortage of trained teachers. Finally, a variety of different SBITT programs became the most prominent method of initial teacher training. In 2017–2018, 53% of teachers favored a school-based teacher training program, while 47% preferred a university-based teacher training program

Complex issues in training design can occur when a new training program must integrate device/equipment and personnel skills. The Firefinder Simulator, Artillery-Locating Radar System, and Course were analyzed in a specially devised approach to assure training effectiveness. Using qualified personnel for evaluation of course design and performance, a task-oriented questionnaire was given in an interview survey of 53 test-player subjects following a training effectiveness test. Selected results were significantly related to total group analysis reflecting the hypothesized design features and training effectiveness. Training efficiency was augmented so critical tasks and evaluative procedures were emphasized to verify and enhance course content. As a model personnel test and survey approach specific suggestions were produced for training development and improvement for instructors’ and students’ proficiency.
