Triple Layer Impression Method For Auricular Prosthesis. An unilateral or bilateral auricular defect can be caused by several factors including trauma, congenital malformation or surgical removal of neoplasm. These condition will affect patient psycologic because ear is a vital part of facial aesthetic. One of rehabilitation care of auricular defect is an auricular prosthesis. Important stage of making auricular prosthesis is to obtain accurate impression to make wax pattern. Impression technique including method of reversible hydrocolloid with wax collar, irreversible hydrocolloid with rigid tray and triple layer impression method. The excellence of the triple layer impression technique are easy to do and accuracy of good impression result. The aim of this case report is to apply triple layer impression method in the making of auricular prosthesis. The treatment was done in 14 years old male patient with chief compain of congenitally defect of external dextra ear. First step of making auricular prosthesis is making an impression of defect area and opposite ear, making prothesa basis and wax pattern, try in the wax pattern, sillicone processing, and insertion the prothesa. Triple layer impression method was done in three step, first the impression material was injected to post aurale region (first layer), than injected to internal surface of ear (second layer). Subsequently, the third layer of impression material was partially filled into the tray and external surface of ear.The result of triple layer impression method in the making of auricular prosthesis is triple layer of solid irreversible hydrocolloid but separatable completly. Conclusion of this case report is the triple layer impression method is suitable for making an auricular prosthesis.

AbstractThe eye is a vital organ and an important component of facial expression. Loss of an eye has a crippling effect on the appearance and psychology of the patient. Surgical removal of the eye is therefore normally followed by fabrication of an ocular prosthesis to improve esthetics. A cosmetically acceptable prosthesis is that which reproduces the natural color, contour, size and iris orientation. A sequence of steps for the construction of custom made ocular prosthesis is outlined in this case report using a modified impression technique.

Aim: This article described a physiological impression technique to design denture surfaces by the action of the surrounding musculature during functional movements based on "neutral zone concept" in patients with severely atrophied mandibular ridge. Methodology: Dual surface impression technique was employed for the fitting and polished surface using silicone impression material. Results: This technique provided a stable base with correct borders to perform all functional movements of the lips, cheeks, and tongue. Conclusion: The patient improved the ability to maintain the adaptive muscle behaviors necessary to control the denture movement in function and rest.   How to cite this article: Abdel-Khalek EA, Said MM. Brief Background Fabrication of any dental prosthesis over a compromised residual alveolar ridge is really a challenge for prosthodontists. Fibrous or flabby ridge and highly resorbed residual alveolar ridge are two clinical situations that require special considerations during construction of any prosthesis. Mobile soft tissue and flattened alveolar ridge significantly compromise denture stability and support. There are different treatment modalities to manage these clinical conditions like surgical excision of soft tissue, ridge augmentation, modification in impression technique, etc. Materials and Methods This case report is about an old completely edentulous male patient who reported with a complaint of difficulty in chewing with his present denture. Discussion Prosthodontic management of a patient with compromised residual alveolar ridges needs special consideration . Selection of treatment modality depends on patients general health ,clinical condition of residual alveolar ridges , financial capacity and skill of the clinician A modification from conventional impression procedure was used to record maxillary flabby anterior ridge and neutral zone concept was applied for teeth arrangement to improve denture stability in atrophied lower alveolar ridge. Summary and Conclusions Surgical removal of soft tissue and implant supported prosthesis may not be possible in all situations. In that case a conservative approach using modified impression technique, neutral zone concept provides the basic triad of a successful denture prosthesis that is retention, stability and support. Key Words Flabby tissue, Window technique, Resorbed ridge, Neutral zone.

This present study describes an impression technique to rehabilitate patients with flabby ridge in pre-maxilla through complete dentures. The proposed technique consists on the association of nondisplacive impression of the flabby area in the primary and functional impression. Therefore, a primary impression was performed with irreversible hydrocolloid with a dual impression. The impression material was removed at the region corresponding to the flabby area, characterizing a window, where a re-impression was conducted with the same material in a more fluid consistency. The functional impression was executed with a custom tray with perforations at the flabby area fabricated over a primary anatomic cast previously relieved. As a result, an anatomic impression with reduced compression over the flabby ridge was obtained. Moreover, an accentuated decrease of the mucosa compression was obtained through the material overflow from the custom tray perforations at the functional impression. After the acrylization of the prosthetic piece, a delimited box corresponding to the flabby mucosa in the prosthesis base was verified. Thus, it is concluded that the association of techniques proposed in this study reduced the compression over the flabby ridge area resulting in a complete denture copying anatomically the flabby area at rest. Thereby, in this case through a precise negative reproduction, a more favorable retention of the maxillary complete denture was obtained in patients with flabby ridge at the pre-maxillary area.

Cavernous hemangiomas are benign tumours of mesodermal origin. Even though various localizations of hemangioma have been described in the literature, its occurrence in the greater omentum is very rare. Only symptomatic hemangiomas are indicated for surgical treatment. There are case reports presenting resection or surgical removal of the greater omentum with hemangioma because of mechanical syndrome, consumption coagulopathy, bleeding, infection or suspicion of a malignancy. This article presents a case report of a patient operated on for a suspicion of carcinomatosis of the greater omentum. Histological examination found hemangiomatosis in the resected greater omentum.

Introduction: Alveolar echinococcosis (AE) is a zoonosis caused by Echinococcus multilocularis. AE is primarily localised in the liver. Echinococcus multilocularis imitates tumour-like behaviour. It can metastasise through blood or lymphatic system to distant organs. Echinococcosis often remains asymptomatic due to its long incubation period and indistinct symptoms. Clinical symptoms are determined by the parasite’s location. Diagnosis of echinococcosis is based on medical history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, serology results, imaging methods and final histology findings. Surgical removal of the cyst with a safety margin, followed by chemotherapy is the therapeutic method of choice. Case report: We present a case report of alveolar echinococcosis in a thirty-year-old female patient in whom we surgically removed multiple liver foci of alveolar echinococcosis. The disease recurred after two years and required another surgical intervention. Conclusions: Alveolar echinococcosis is a disease with a high potential for a complete cure provided that it is diagnosed early and that the recommended therapeutic procedures are strictly adhered to.

Aims and Background Intramedullary teratoma is an extremely exceptional tumor (5 cases), although a careful review of international literature has shown it to be more frequent (32 cases) than believed. Methods The authors present a personal case with some unusual aspects. Results Our case is unusual not only because it was diagnosed by MRI (only one case has been reported in the literature) but also because surgical removal of the tumor was apparently total (only 4 other cases have been described), with a long follow-up period (4.5 years) and excellent results, in clinical and neuroradiologic terms.

Several implant impression techniques with different materials have been described in the literature. Generally, border molding, functional, and final impressions have been made with 3 different materials, which makes the procedure technique-sensitive and time-consuming. A combination of open-tray and functional impression techniques is described in this technical report. Border molding and functional impression procedures are made at the same time using a vinyl polysiloxane impression material, which makes this technique a simple and time-efficient alternative for clinicians.

Oral mucocele is a benign cystic exophytic lesion affecting the minor salivary gland and is especially present in pediatric patients (3% under 14 years). It is characterized by an extravasation or retention of fluid or mucus in the submucosal tissue of the minor salivary glands. Several surgical techniques have been proposed over the years, including the excision of the mucocele by using the injection of a hydrocolloid impression material in the light of the cyst to prevent the collapse of the cystic wall and solidify the lesion, resulting in a better cleavage plan. The combined clinical approach between the combination of Shira’s technique and the surgical excision of the cystic lesion results in a conservative surgical removal of the lesion. Here, we reported the removal of a labial mucocele in a 14-year-old male patient, using the injection of a hydrocolloid impression material. At a 12 months follow up, the patient showed complete healing of the surgical site, showing a pinkish lip lining mucosa without scarring or recurrence of the primary lesion. The combined therapeutic approach between Shira’s technique and surgical excision allows a safe and predictable excision of the labial mucocele, minimizing the risk of recurrence.
