The study examine the psychometric properties of Attitudes towards Mathematics Inventory (ATMI) in the Thai context. To achieve the objective set by the authors, 259 students from 10 different primary schools in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Thailand were selected. Furthermore, a forty items ATMI questionnaire having four scales that is, 15 items measuring self-confidence, 10 items measuring value, 10 items measuring enjoyment, and 5 items measuring motivation from the study of Khine and Afari (2014) was adapted. The questionnaire adapted was translated to Thai language by expert English Thai lecturer. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) measure of sampling adequacy and Bartlett’s test of sphericity were carried out to ascertain the factorability of the correlation matrix. That ATMI can be a viable scale to measure students’ attitudes toward mathematics in Thai context.

Abstract As curricula to improve medical students' attitudes toward people with disabilities are developed, instruments are needed to guide the process and evaluate effectiveness. The authors developed an instrument to measure medical students' attitudes toward people with disabilities. A pilot instrument with 30 items in four sections was administered to 342 medical students. Internal consistency reliability and factor analysis were conducted. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.857, indicating very good internal consistency. Five components were identified: comfort interacting with people with disabilities, working with people with disabilities in a clinical setting, negative impressions of self-concepts of people with disabilities, positive impressions of self-concepts of people with disabilities, and conditional comfort with people with disabilities. The instrument appears to have good psychometric properties and requires further validation.

In clinical practice, it is essential to be able to identify hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), with its different severity levels and assess the influence the subject’s relationship has on the issue. In order to do this, questionnaires are needed that comprise appropriate psychometric properties. We analyzed the psychometric properties and factorial structure of the Sexual Desire and Aversion (DESEA) questionnaire that evaluates sexual desire and interpersonal stress (relationship problems) in male and female couples. A pilot study was conducted with a group of 1583 people. Finally, it included 20,424 Spanish speakers who answered the questionnaire via an online link. The requirements for factor analysis were verified followed by the exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient calculated the reliability of the test scores at 0.834 in the pilot group and 0.889 in the final group. A 3-factor factorial design explains the 62.08% variance. The KMO (Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin) test (p = 0.904), Bartlett’s test of sphericity (126,115.3; p = 0.000010) and the matrix determinant (0.0020770) verified the appropriateness of the factor analysis. The results show that the DESEA questionnaire is a reliable and valid instrument for evaluating desire and interpersonal stress, both in women and men, in clinical and research contexts.

The current paper aims to analyse the importance of values of young employees now and in five years period. In order to achieve the aim, the questionnaire consisting of fifty statements was developed and disseminated between the Latvian students. The sample size was 392, which shows that the results represent the whole populations. For data processing, factor analysis was chosen as a tool. The data factorability was assessed via Bartlett’s Test of Sphericity, Kaiser-Myer-Olkin (KMO) statistic, initial estimates of communality and the anti-image correlation matrix. The factors were extracted via principal axis factoring (PAF). The number of factors was determined by the scree plot/Kaiser’s rule and was equal to five in both cases. The results showed the for the young employees the essential values today are those connected to the personality trait. However, in five years, the essential values would be those that are linked to professional development.

Students in 73 prealgebra classes completed a questionnaire containing items about their teacher's classroom behaviors, their grades in mathematics, and their attitudes toward mathematics, school, and their mathematics teacher. Several moderate relationships were found between the student's perception of specific teaching behaviors and student attitudes. A factor analysis of the students' perceptions of teacher behaviors revealed six factors in the teaching behavior portion of the inventory. A significant relationship (p<.05p<.05) between one of the inventory factors and the students' attitudes toward their mathematics teacher was identified.

This article presents findings from a pilot study that examined the effect of a school counselor-led intervention, using the “Skill-Builders” curriculum, on middle-school students’ attitudes toward mathematics learning. Results from the current study demonstrated that students who received the Skill-Builders curriculum had significantly higher posttest scores on a measure of attitudes toward mathematics learning, including self-confidence, value, enjoyment, and motivation. Females in the Skill-Builders group improved significantly more than their male classmates. Implications and directions for future research are discussed.

Multivariate statistical techniques such as factor analysis are capable of producing patterned results with most, if not all, data matrices. This paper demonstrates that patterned results are obtainable when principal component analysis is applied to a random data set. It is suggested that Bartlett's test for the statistical significance of a correlation matrix be employed in deciding whether a factor analysis of the matrix is justified.

En este trabajo estudiamos las respuestas de 285 futuros profesores de Educación General Básica en Chile sobre los constructos autoconfianza, motivación y ansiedad, considerados descriptores de la dimensión personal de las actitudes de los estudiantes hacia las matemáticas. El cuestionario utilizado toma en consideración la componente psico-social de las actitudes y su carácter multidimensional, contemplando las dimensiones: personal, social, profesional e institucional de las mismas. Se aprecia que la motivación es el constructo que puntúa con mayor orientación positiva mientras que la autoconfianza y la falta de ansiedad puntúan con orientación positiva más cercana al nivel neutro. Motivation, Self-Confidence and Anxiety as Descriptors of the Attitude Towards Mathematics of the Future Teachers of Basic Education in Chile In this paper, we study the answers that 285 prospective elementary teachers provide in Chile about the constructs self-confidence, motivation and anxiety, which are considered personal-dimension descriptors of students’ attitudes towards mathematics. We used a questionnaire that considers the psycho-social component of the attitudes and its multidimensional nature, considering the personal, social, professional, and institutional dimensions. The culture of life is a theological-philosophical term, which signifies a commitment to respect and protect life. The aim of this study was to investigate students’ attitudes towards the culture of life in Sarajevo Canton. Research included a sample of 1204 students of 6th grade of primary schools in Sarajevo Canton, divided into two subsamples of 602 students attending schools in suburban and urban parts of Sarajevo Canton, we examined the attitudes of students who acquired competencies in the subject Culture of Living to the aspect of culture as a phenomenon, with all its integral wholes from healthy lifestyles, through general cultural habits to traditional values. The results obtained by factor analysis indicate that students attending schools in the suburbs of Sarajevo Canton determine attitudes that have the premise of education in relation to students attending schools in urban areas of Sarajevo Canton, which are more determined by educational categories of attitudes. to conclude that the children of suburban schools have a greater influence of parents and families on attitudes compared to urban schools where the influence of teachers and schools is greater, based on the attitudes of students through a survey conducted.

The aim of the study was to develop an indigenous scale on the phenomenon of perceived favouritism among university students. A list of 98 items was compiled after reaching saturation level by interviewing 25 university students of BS, individually. Then redundant items were excluded and 39 items were retained. For empirical validation, five experts were approached and after empirical validation, a scale of 38 items was prepared. The pilot study was conducted on 25 university students of BS and revealed that the participants did not face any major problem about comprehension of the scale. Then the scale was administered to the sample of 200 university students for establishing psychometric properties. Results of the scale factor analysis showed significant KMO value and Bartlett’s test of sphericity was significant and indicated correlation between the items. Three factors were retained through principle component analysis varimax rotation and labelled as Preference, Extra Involvement, and Discrimination.The concurrent validity of Indigenous Perceived Favouritism Scale with What Is Happening In The Class Scale (Chionh & Fisher, 1998) was found to be significant. Indigenous Perceived Favouritism Scale is, thus, dependable and valid scale for measuring perceived favouritism among university students.
