<P>Background: The cloud computing is the modern trend in high-performance computing. Cloud computing becomes very popular due to its characteristic of available anywhere, elasticity, ease of use, cost-effectiveness, etc. Though the cloud grants various benefits, it has associated issues and challenges to prevent the organizations to adopt the cloud. </P><P> Objective: The objective of this paper is to cover the several perspectives of Cloud Computing. This includes a basic definition of cloud, classification of the cloud based on Delivery and Deployment Model. The broad classification of the issues and challenges faced by the organization to adopt the cloud computing model are explored. Examples for the broad classification are Data Related issues in the cloud, Service availability related issues in cloud, etc. The detailed sub-classifications of each of the issues and challenges discussed. The example sub-classification of the Data Related issues in cloud shall be further classified into Data Security issues, Data Integrity issue, Data location issue, Multitenancy issues, etc. This paper also covers the typical problem of vendor lock-in issue. This article analyzed and described the various possible unique insider attacks in the cloud environment. </P><P> Results: The guideline and recommendations for the different issues and challenges are discussed. The most importantly the potential research areas in the cloud domain are explored. </P><P> Conclusion: This paper discussed the details on cloud computing, classifications and the several issues and challenges faced in adopting the cloud. The guideline and recommendations for issues and challenges are covered. The potential research areas in the cloud domain are captured. This helps the researchers, academicians and industries to focus and address the current challenges faced by the customers.</P>

New Media is a generic term for the many different forms of electronic communication that are made possible through the use of computer technology. New media refers to on-demand access to content anytime, anywhere, on any digital device, as well as interactive user feedback, creative participation and community formation around the media content. Another important promise of new media is the “democratization” of the creation, publishing, distribution and consumption of media content along with real-time generation of new and user created content. Cloud computing, is a style of computing where scalable and elastic IT-related capabilities are provided as shared assorted services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, DaaS). It is metered by use, to customers using internet technologies built on top of diverse technologies like virtualisation, distributed computing, utility computing, and more recently networking, web infrastructure and providing on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources. It represents a paradigm shift in how we think about our data, the role of our computing devices and on managing computing resources. Being an emerging service technology with promising novel and valuable capabilities it attracts industrial research community with main focus on standardisation and customised implementation in every segment of society. To meet out the ever growing popularity of the inevitable new media applications and services over the Internet and the way it overpowers mobile devices, there is a strong demand for cloud integration. This paper outlines the concepts of new media cloud computing and addresses the problem of handling exponential growth of online data. It presents a novel framework for New Media Cloud Computing. A preliminary simulation of the work on the proposed architecture shows that there is increase in the quality of computations done, despite the demand of constant updating of resources in New Media environment.

Cloud computing is a model for enabling everywhere, suitable, on-demand network access. There are a number of challenges to provide cloud computing services and to accomplish this, it is necessary to establish trust across the cloud, between the user and the service provider. It is becoming increasingly complex for cloud users to make distinction among service providers offering similar kinds of services. There must be some mechanisms in the hands of users to determine trustworthiness of service providers so that they can select service providers with confidence and with some degree of assurance that service provider will not behave unpredictably or maliciously. An effective trust management system helps cloud service providers and consumers reap the benefits brought about by cloud computing technologies. Hence the objective of this chapter is to describe existing mechanisms that are used to determine a trust worthiness of a cloud service, various models that are used for calculating a trust value and method to establish trust management system.

Cloud computing is the most utilized and evolving technology in the past few years and has taken computing to a whole new level such that even common man is receiving the benefits. The end user in cloud computing always prefers a cloud service provider which is efficient, reliable and best quality of service at the lowest possible price. A cloud based gaming system relieves the player from the burden of possessing high end processing and graphic units. The storage of games hosted in clouds using the latest technologies in cloud has been discussed in detail. The Quality of service of games hosted in cloud is the main focus of this chapter and we have proposed a mathematical model for the same. The various factors in dealing with the quality of service on cloud based games have been analyzed in detail. The quality of experience of cloud based games and its relation with quality of service has been derived. This chapter focuses on the various storage techniques, quality of experience factors and correlates the same with QoS in cloud based games.

Cloud Computing is emerging as a promising cost efficient computing paradigm which professionals believe is an absolutely new trend and will represent next level of internet evolution. Though the presence of Cloud computing is ubiquitous, it still lacks consensus on a proper definition and classification of the major Clouds in effect today. It also suffers from major criticism of being a hype/fad and some researchers claim that it is just an extension of already established computing paradigms. This chapter attempts to deal with such criticisms by comprehensively analyzing the Cloud definitions and diagnose the components of the same. It performs a comprehensive study of more than 30 definitions given by Cloud computing professionals and published in research papers. These definitions are then analyzed under more than fifteen components, each of which is discussed in the chapter. This study is backed by empirical work, to understand Cloud computing from different angles and come up with a comprehensive definition. It also analyses the present Cloud service providers and the level of services they provide to bring about a clear picture of Cloud computing. Based on the comparison, the pending issues in Cloud computing are discussed.

Cloud computing has now become a part of many businesses. It provides on-demand resources to its users based on pay-as-you-use policy, across the globe. The high availability feature of this technology is affected by distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack, which is a major security issue. In this attack, cloud or network resources are exhausted, resulting in a denial of service for legitimate users. In this chapter, a classification of various types of DDoS attacks has been presented, and techniques for defending these attacks in cloud computing have been discussed. A discussion on challenges and open issues in this area is also given. Finally, a conceptual model based on extreme learning machine has been proposed to defend these attacks.

Edge computing is a technique of optimizing cloud computing systems by performing data processing at the edge of the network, near the source of the data in the systems. And, cloud computing is a service that delivers on-demand self-service, broad network access, resource pooling, rapid elasticity or expansion, which is trending in today's technology-driven world. With the advantage of flexibility, storage, sharing, and easy accessibility, cloud is being used by major players in IT (information technology). This chapter highlights cloud/edge computing architecture and its current issues and challenges from technological and organizational aspects. A brief introduction of edge computing architecture with similar technologies along with its service models is discussed. A few counterexamples of cloud computing architecture are showed. Organizational aspects of cloud computing architecture, as well as IBM and Oracle reference cloud architecture, are briefly presented. Some emerging issues and challenges associated with cloud/edge computing on its utilization are also elaborated.

Cloud computing is a model for providing convenient network access on demand to some common fund of configurable computing resources. These calculations are flexible, scalable, and inexpensive, but have large-scale sharing of services among multiple users. The broad coverage of the idea of cloud computing has led to significant changes, both in public access systems and in mobile communications, which prompted advanced researchers to provide suitable system protocols and network architecture. In cloud computing, there are two main problems: access control and security. Therefore, the security of both services and users is a significant problem that stands in the way of using and trust in cloud computing.
