1st Online International Conference on “Emerging Trends in Catalysis for Sustainable Chemical Processes (ETCSCP - 2021)”, from 26th to 28th August 2021 was jointly organized by IIChE - Bangalore Regional Centre, Catalysis Society of India - Bangalore Chapter, Department of Chemical Engineering,M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore, Poornaprajna Institute of Scientific Research (PPISR) and Department of Chemical Engineering, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering. Eight plenary speakers from across the globe addressed the audience and shared their research experience on application of catalysis encompassing energy, environment and sustainability.

AbstractLet there be light–to change the world we want to be! Over the past several decades, and ever since the birth of the first laser, mankind has witnessed the development of the science of light, as light-based technologies have revolutionarily changed our lives. Needless to say, photonics has now penetrated into many aspects of science and technology, turning into an important and dynamically changing field of increasing interdisciplinary interest. In this inaugural issue of eLight, we highlight a few emerging trends in photonics that we think are likely to have major impact at least in the upcoming decade, spanning from integrated quantum photonics and quantum computing, through topological/non-Hermitian photonics and topological insulator lasers, to AI-empowered nanophotonics and photonic machine learning. This Perspective is by no means an attempt to summarize all the latest advances in photonics, yet we wish our subjective vision could fuel inspiration and foster excitement in scientific research especially for young researchers who love the science of light.

For many decades, the focus of personnel selection research was on developing selection tests that maximized prediction of job performance; the approach was typically lacking in theoretical bases. The past two decades saw significant shifts in research to a focus on the nature of constructs and their interrelationships, characterized by an approach that emphasizes theoretical understanding of the phenomena under investigation. This article provides an overview of how a construct-oriented approach underlies major current directions in scientific research on personnel selection. Emerging trends that are likely to constitute issues of enduring importance are discussed.

Over the last two decades the attention given to the research on Public-private partnerships (PPPs) has been steadily increasing. Literature surveys on the research trends of PPP in English language publications suggest some emerging trends in the topics dedicated to the PPP. A similar compilation of PPP literature is not readily available on the grounds of national scientific research. That is why the aim of the article is to present contemporary trends that are being developed in Poland in the PPP filed. The indication of possible further research in the area of PPP is also an essential issue tackled in this article.

If we make a set of measurements, such as narrow-band or multicolour photo-electric measurements, which are designed to improve a scheme of classification, and in particular if they are designed to extend the number of dimensions of classification, i.e. the number of classification parameters, then some important problems of analytical procedure arise. First, it is important not to reproduce the errors of the classification scheme which we are trying to improve. Second, when trying to extend the number of dimensions of classification we have little or nothing with which to test the validity of the new parameters.Problems similar to these have occurred in other areas of scientific research (notably psychology and education) and the branch of Statistics called Multivariate Analysis has been developed to deal with them. The techniques of this subject are largely unknown to astronomers, but, if carefully applied, they should at the very least ensure that the astronomer gets the maximum amount of information out of his data and does not waste his time looking for information which is not there. More optimistically, these techniques are potentially capable of indicating the number of classification parameters necessary and giving specific formulas for computing them, as well as pinpointing those particular measurements which are most crucial for determining the classification parameters.
