Maize belongs to the most important crops and industrial grains in the world and Ukraine is becoming one of the key producers and exporters of maize in the world. The aim of the study was to assess the determinants of maize production changes in Ukraine in the context of internal and global conditions. The work presents changes in production, consumption and prices in Ukraine against their counterparts in the world. In light of the research, it has been shown that there is an increase of integration of the Ukrainian maize market with global markets. This phenomenon was supported by the increase in demand for maize on global markets caused by the development of biofuel production and the relatively low costs of cereal production in Ukraine.

India has built a large pharmaceutical industry through an array of measures in support of domestic firms. The absence of product patents enabled Indian companies to become world leading producers of generic versions of patented drugs. Low costs and a strong engineering tradition continue to sustain competitive strength. The implementation of the World Trade Organization patent regime in 2005 is driving a transformation of the industry. Key elements of the present shake-up include the return of ?big pharma? companies on a large scale and the emergence of several Indian firms that aim to become fullyfledged research-based multinationals. This article provides a description of the development and structure of the Indian pharmaceutical industry and explores questions and challenges arising from its integration into global markets.

The production of cereals, including rice, wheat, and maize has increased in China over the past 20 years. However, variations in the production and cultivated area of cereals remains unclear. In this study, we collected and analyzed the cereal production and cultivated area in China from 1998 to 2016. An 85% increase in cereal production was recorded from 1998 to 2016, due to an increase in the maize production along with the increase in the cultivated area. Meanwhile, rice and wheat production have been stable since 2000. No change occurred in the rice cultivated area through 2016, and a 19% decrease in the wheat cultivated area was observed in 2016 relative to 1998. In addition, a significant positive relationship was observed among cereal production, maize production, and cultivated area (p < 0.0001). Together, the increase in cereal production in China over the past two decades has resulted from the increase in maize cultivated area and the consequent increase in maize production.

Sukuk is a form of Islamic investment instrument that is developing in Indonesia and various countries in the world. The superiority of Sukuk as a form of relatively safe investment makes sukuk accepted as an investment tool as well as funding for countries with a majority of Muslim and non-Muslim populations. The Indonesian government began to establish rules regarding sukuk since 2008 and continues to develop and innovate in sukuk transactions. Greetings and interest in investing in Indonesian sukuk are very good, both in the domestic and global markets. This can be seen from the oversubscription that occurs in Indonesian sukuk. Great interest in sukuk, especially in Indonesia shows that sukuk can provide good alternatives for investors and the country for funding needs in Indonesia's development.

Maize evolution under domestication is a process that continues today. Case studies suggest that Mexican smallholder family farmers, known as campesinos , contribute importantly to this, but their significance has not been explicitly quantified and analysed as a whole. Here, we examine the evolutionary and food security implications of the scale and scope under which campesinos produce maize. We gathered official municipal-level data on maize production under rainfed conditions and identified campesino agriculture as occurring in municipalities with average yields of less than or equal to 3 t ha −1 . Environmental conditions vary widely in those municipalities and are associated with a great diversity of maize races, representing 85.3% of native maize samples collected in the country. We estimate that in those municipalities, around 1.38 × 10 11 genetically different individual plants are subjected to evolution under domestication each season. This implies that 5.24 × 10 8 mother plants contribute to the next generation with their standing genetic diversity and rare alleles. Such a large breeding population size also increases the total number of adaptive mutations that may appear and be selected for. We also estimate that campesino agriculture could potentially feed around 54.7 million people in Mexico. These analyses provide insights about the contributions of smallholder agriculture around the world.

In a country like India innovations are more referred as “jugaad”. Though the dictionary does not explain such kind of words, but every person in India understands the importance of jugaad. India has one of the largest systems for agricultural research in the world. However this system has focused predominantly on strengthening of cereal production under irrigated conditions. It would be essential that they participate in all decision making which cater to overall development of rural india. India also needs to increase its efforts to tap into the rapidly growing stock of global knowledge through channels such as FDI, technology licensing, importation of capital merchandise that embody knowledge, as well as advanced products, components, and services. This chapter analyses and focuses on various innovative practices done with the help of Government, Public Private Partnership, private Players, Individuals, NGOS, etc

Changes in today’s organisations are often necessary for survival due to the world becoming smaller and the threat from foreign imports becoming more apparent to businesses. Often the most damaging element of this foreign threat is the low costs at which they can operate. Many factors, including inexpensive labour, exchange rates and economies, make production more efficient and reduce the overall costs significantly to enable a significant competitive edge. For example, Fibres is a polyester manufacturer who faces this threat and has realised the need for change towards more speciality products with differentials other than price. However, this will involve major changes in production, including the production methods and the adoption of TQM to ensure that the differential of quality is utilized. This paper examines communication as an enabler for change and studies the current communication methods within the company against the desired improvement processes from groups within those companies, culminating in a targeted internal marketing strategy to aid future business changes.

Football is considered the most spectated sport in the world. It cannot be considered as a mere entertainment of ninety minutes, but instead, it is an industry that connects many in one body. Due to difficult financial regulations and fierce competitiveness, Turkey, as a well-established but re-emerging football country, should create new routes to enhance their markets and find new financial supports. In order to achieve sustainable development and compete with the other big clubs of Europe, the football environment in Turkey should position itself globally and expand its operations. This chapter aims to adapt the entry strategies in global marketing to sports marketing. It reveals new marketing implementations for Turkish football clubs in Asian sports markets by defining the entry strategies of global markets and giving insights into the existing implementations of both Turkish clubs and other clubs in Asia.

This chapter aims to illustrate the importance that learning trajectories and the building of technological capabilities have had in the internationalization and competitiveness process of the nowadays Multinational Companies from an Emerging Economy (MCEE), based on the case of CEMEX, a Mexican multinational and one of the largest cement companies of the world. The case study shows that the emergence of this company into the global markets is the result of a mix of assets and capabilities (Penrose, 1995; Bell & Pavitt, 1995; Bell, 2007) developed over a period of nearly eight decades, at whose base are productive, technological and organizational capabilities. Findings substantiate that multinationalization through mergers and acquisitions has strengthened the technological capabilities of CEMEX, as a result of the learning and knowledge sharing processes driven by the actual integration of CEMEX with the acquired companies. By establishing learning routines, CEMEX feeds an innovation process within the group.
