As one of the countries that ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1990 which was subsequently promulgated into the Child Protection Act, Indonesia is still unsuccessful in protecting children. This mainly occurs in the context of protection illegal migrant workers’ children who were born in the country where their parents work. In Sarawak, Malaysia, for instance, there are 43,445 stateless children. This study aims to portray the stateless children in Sarawak, Malaysia, and the efforts of the Indonesian government to protect their right to access justice. This research is normative-qualitative with observations and in-depth interviews with consultant general staff and Indonesian volunteers In Sarawak as one of the main research methods. The results of this study indicate that stateless condition makes it possible for the children to get other rights, such as education. Meanwhile, the Indonesian government has already made regulations and efforts to provide access to basic human rights for children of stateless migrant workers, including itsbat nikah abroad to legalize unregistered marriage among workers. However, it has not been fully successful because the problems are so complex that it needs to involve several parties, especially the Malaysian government, and plantation owners as employers of the migrant workers. Likewise, harder and more coordinated efforts are also needed to fulfill their citizenship right.

This research departs from the author’s observation that Indonesian government officials are currently very wary and worried being criminally charged for corruption and at the same time brought before the administrative court for abuse of power. The main question here is whether the possibility of being brought before the Administrative Court may or may not have positive effect. The main finding, using a legal normative approach, is that the final decision on the issue, whether there is abuse of power or not, as decided by the Administrative Court, would be important in proving disproving, the corruption charge brought before the criminal court.

The ASEAN Agreement on Transboundary Haze Pollution (AATHP) is a collective effort agreed by all of the ASEAN member countries to purposely tackle haze pollution and Indonesia finally ratified it in late 2014. Indonesian government has had responsibilities to carry out its part to tackle forest and land fires resulting in transboundary haze within its territory since then, coordinating and cooperating with all of its lower-level administrations. However, there has been little attention to the study emphasizing any local government’s roles to support the regime’s goals. This research paper aims to describe Riau government’s policies to realize the goals of the AATHP from 2015 to 2016. This paper applies behavioralist approach, which is effective to analyze the actor’s policies or decisions inasmuch as it allows the analysis on an individual or group that represents a state or governance. This paper applies David Easton’s system theory of decision making which belongs to the approach. The finding of the research is that Riau government took the policies of creating the plan of action on forest and land fires prevention and raising the local emergency statuses to contribute to the goals realization. It means that the local government was, too, an important actor to determine the success or failure of the regime during the years.

The purpose of this research is to explain a phenomena that happened in the Indonesian microinsurance business. Using the case study technique, we observed that microinsurance is still difficult to develop based on the overall population of Indonesians. If the main idea of micro insurance is applied, micro insurance products are still widely available in big cities but have yet to reach low-income individuals or UMKM. A breakthrough is necessary to produce microinsurance. This microinsurance business must be developed through a network of local communities, which are usually located in the lower middle class, or UMKM. Aside from that, marketers must have a set of tools at their disposal, such as a suitable ICT-based market (community) database. As a result, any microinsurance business formed must be targeted to the demands of the Indonesian government, such as microinsurance for agricultural, livestock, and fisherman, particularly in rural regions. Meanwhile, the most enticing micro insurance enterprises for metropolitan regions are personal accidents, property, and motor and vehicles.   Keywords: Micro, UMKM, Insurance, Marketing.
