The present article deals with the effects of nanoparticles and magnetic field on the peristaltic flow of a couple stress fluid in an asymmetric channel with different wave forms. Mathematical modelling for 2-D and two directional flows of a couple stress fluid along with nanofluid are first given and then simplified under the assumptions of long wavelength and low Reynolds number approximation. After invoking these approximations we get coupled non-linear differential equations. The exact solutions of temperature distribution, the nanoparticle concentration, velocity, stream function and pressure gradient are calculated. Finally graphical results of various physical parameters of interest are discussed to examine the behavior of flow quantities.

In the present paper, we have studied the influence of heat transfer and magnetic field on a peristaltic transport of a Jeffrey fluid in an asymmetric channel with partial slip. The complicated Jeffrey fluid equations are simplified using the long wave length and low Reynolds number assumptions. In the wave frame of reference, an exact and closed form of Adomian solution is presented. The expressions for pressure drop, pressure rise, stream function, and temperature field have been calculated. The behaviour of different physical parameters has been discussed graphically. The pumping and trapping phenomena of various wave forms (sinusoidal, multisinusoidal, square, triangular, and trapezoidal) are also studied.

This article studies the hydromagnetic peristaltic flow of couple stress fluids through the gap between two concentric channels containing a Darcian porous medium, with the inner channel being rigid. A sinusoidal wave propagates along the outer channel. Long wavelength and low Reynolds number assumptions are used. The effects of couple stress parameter, magnetic field, permeability, and the channel ratio width on pressure and frictional forces on the inner and outer channels are depicted graphically. Mechanical efficiency and trapping are also studied. Pressure diminishes with increasing coupling and permeability parameters whereas it increases with Hartmann number and channel width ratio. Applications of the model include transport of complex bio-waste fluids and magnetic field control of gastro-intestinal disorders.

Nonlinear oberbeck convection of a couple stress fluid in a vertical porous channel in the presence of transverse magnetic field is investigated in this paper. Analytical solution is obtained using the perturbation technique for vanishing values of the buoyancy parameter. Numerical solution of the nonlinear governing equations is obtained using the finite difference technique to validate the results obtained from the analytical solutions. The influence of the physical parameters on the flow, such as couple stress parameter, Hartmann number, temperature parameter, porous parameter and buoyancy parameter are evaluated and presented graphically. A new approach is used to analyse the flow for strong, weak and comparable porosity cases. It is found that increase in porous parameter, couple stress parameter, Hartmann number and temperature parameters decrease the velocity considerably.Kathmandu University Journal of Science, Engineering and Technology Vol. 12, No. I, June, 2016, Page: 49-62

The problem of peristaltic nanofluid flow in an asymmetric channel in the presence of the second-order slip boundary condition was investigated in this paper. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this parameter was here incorporated for the first time in such field of a peristaltic flow. The system governing the current flow was found as a set of nonlinear partial differential equations in the stream function, pressure gradient, nanoparticle concentration, and temperature distribution. Therefore, this system has been successfully solved exactly via a very effective procedure. These exact solutions were then proved to reduce to well-known results in the absence of second slip which were published very recently in the literature. Effect of the second slip parameter on the present physical parameters was discussed through graphs and it was found that this type of slip is a very important one to predict the investigated physical model. Moreover, the variation of many physical parameters such as amplitudes of the lower and upper waves, phase difference on the temperature distribution, nanoparticle concentration, pressure rise, velocity, and pressure gradient were also discussed. Finally, the present results may be viewed as an optimal choice for their dependence on the exact solutions which are obtained due to the highly complex nonlinear system.
