This study aimed at analyzing the English language skills functions and expressions needed as a waiter/ss. This research was a qualitative descriptive. The method used in obtaining the required information were interviews and documentation, in which subjects in this research were Asst. F&B Service Manager, Restaurant Manager, Supervisor, and Restaurant Staff in 5-Star Hotel in Bali. The results of this study indicated that (1) Speaking & listening skills are the main poins that must be mastered by a waiter/ss, and the accuracy of grammar and fluency in communication also have an equally important role, (2) The expression of the language used adjusts to predetermined language functions based on the implementation of Sequence of Service (SOS) in restaurants. From the results of this study it may be necessary to further research on analyzing the needs of English Waiters in a broader scope.

This study aims to conduct a basic level needs analysis of the use of English by homestay owners in the village of Ubud, Gianyar, Bali. The analysis was carried out in three main areas, namely what the learners know in terms of language skills and language functions, what they do not know in terms of problems they encountered in in handling guests and what they want to know in terms of their expectation to increase their competencies in handling guests. This study used a mixed method research by exploratory design that focuses on a qualitative approach before measuring or testing it quantitatively. The results showed that in terms of language skills what they need the most are speaking and listening skills, whereas in terms of language functions they mostly need general conversation, providing information, providing services and answering question. In terms of problem they often face are guests who speak too fast, do not have enough vocabulary and the feeling of insecure communicating with guests. In terms of expectation on language use, homestay owners need a standard of language pattern which includes handling guests from checking in to checking out.

Background: This study aims to describe: (1) English Club background at SDIT (Islamic Elementary School) Az-Zahra Sragen (2) English Club planning, (3) English Club implementation, (4) English Club implementation constraints, (5) Solutions to overcome English Club implementation constraints, (6) Evaluation of English Club at SDIT Az-Zahra Sragen. Method: Types of research this is qualitative descriptive research with a case study design. The informants of this research are the principal, English Club supervisor, English teacher class 3,4,5, English Club students. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, and documentation. The technique of checking the validity of the data is done by triangulation of sources. The data were analyzed through data collection, reduction, display, and conclusion. Results: This shows various information about the English Club at SDIT Az-Zahra Sragen in developing English language skills. The data obtained include The background of the English Club, namely so that students can speak English fluently and communicate correctly using English. In addition, it is also motivated for competition. English Club planning includes socialization, ideas and financing, planning before implementation, and student preparation. Implementation of the English Club includes materials, media, techniques, and activities. Meanwhile, English skills that are more prominent are speaking skills. There are still obstacles to be faced. The obstacles and solutions include: when making materials, designing activities, media, implementation, in developing English skills.

This study aims to train English language skills for Akparta students to be proficient in English. The research methods used include presentations, lectures, observations and discussions. The results showed that the level of English mastery of the Surakarta Akparta students had progressed in speaking English. Community service activities carried out at Akparta Surakarta are helpful for students to improve their English language competence so that students can become professional tourism workers

This study aims to increase courage children to speaking English using implementation of game in Dahanrejo village, Kebomas, Gresik. The author as tutors and teachers for children in Dahanrejo village in this research. The problems refer to in Dahanrejo village, many children are afraid to speak English because there are no motivation to increase knowledge related studying English, therefore they have lack vocabulary and also teachers can’t explore the other media to teaching English in the classroom. The results of the action research given by the authors are the application of the media can improve the English language skills especially speaking of students and be able to provide variations in indoor learning that are not only fixed on the Package Books and Students Worksheets (LKS). Not only that, but the authors also found that the media was able to change the mood of students who did teaching through the media and were more interested in English.

The field of digital literacy is developing rapidly; consequently, the interest of researchers has also shifted now. The current research study was to explore the role of online learning Apps available on smartphones in improving graduate students' English language proficiency. Quantitative and qualitative research methods were used in this study. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had close-ended and open-ended questions. Questionnaires were distributed among 480 graduate-level students studying in 6 universities of Punjab, Pakistan. Data were analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 22.0) to find out results in the form of Percentage, Mean Score, Standard Deviation by applying the Independent Sample T-Test. The results of the study demonstrated the potential of Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) as an anticipatory approach to improving English language skills. Results showed that students were pleased to use smartphones to improve their English language proficiency. They responded positively about the role of smartphones in improving English language skills. On the basis of findings, the researcher concluded that smartphone plays an important role in improving students' English language proficiency.
