Tracking Tourists’ Mobility via the Internet

Tracking tourists’ mobility and migratory patterns may be conducted by collating their digital footprints via the web. Data of this sort may be sourced via apps such as Google Maps, or websites that collate IP numbers and their proximity to mobile phone towers. It may also be collected via big datasets such as ticketing websites, via mini programs such as those used by WeChat, and via non-big data sources such as blogs. This form of location-based tracking is a highly efficient and cost- effective means of understanding where consumers are located. The devastating impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic upon the tourism industry have clearly indicated the potential for tracking via the internet to assist the tourism industry. Google’s analytical data that was released publicly in March 2020 provided an excellent example of this – both in terms of the insights that can emerge from data of this type, and consumers’ perceptions of the ethics of this form of data. This chapter will explore the technique, including the types of location-based data that can emerge from websites, the conceptual learnings that have emerged from this technique, and, importantly, the ethical implications of this form of data.

Accessible tourism is a very important growth market that should not be ignored by the tourism industry, not only due to legal obligations and social responsibility but also because of business opportunities. However, people with special needs face various constraints in accessing tourism products. The absence of accessible information is one of the main barriers that people with special needs face when they intend to travel. The Internet represents one of the most important information sources in tourism. However, a limited number of studies examine the use of the Internet in the accessible tourism market, specifically website accessibility. To extend knowledge in this field, this study aims to analyse the website accessibility of hotels and Pousadas de Portugal located in the Central Region of Portugal. A sample of 306 websites was analysed based on Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, using automatic web diagnostic tools (AccessMonitor and TAW). This analysis was performed considering the A, AA and AAA conformance levels of WCAG. Findings reveal that the web accessibility level of the hotels analysed is low, with the ‘Perceivable’ and ‘Robust’ guidelines being the most critical. Moreover, there are differences in the web accessibility levels in terms of hotel category. Contrary to what was expected, the higher category hotels present the lowest level of web accessibility. These results can help hotel managers and web designers to improve communication with an important growth market – accessible tourism.

This study aimed to determine web-based teaching materials in the covid-19 pandemic time as implementation of technological advancements. The method used is literature study or literature review. A literature study is a research design used in collecting data sources related to a topic. It collects data for the study of literature using a database to search for literature sources. Data collection used the Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) method. From the results of research and discussion, it can be concluded that the web or website is a site that contains various documents and information that can be accessed by individuals and groups using the internet. Because of its superiority in finding information, the website is widely used as a medium of communication, promoting business, and even learning activities. Through the website, the implementation of learning will be easier and more interesting. Students can access various learning resources through the website, provide complete practice questions, and provide discussion space for students and interesting visualizations.

This report is dedicated to the role of the web site as an important tool for presenting business on the Internet. Classification of site types has been made in terms of their application in the business and the types of structures in their construction. The Models of the Life Cycle for designing business websites are analyzed and are outlined their strengths and weaknesses. The stages in the design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance of a business website are distinguished and the activities and requirements of each stage are specified.
