Corrosion of metals is the most significant and difficult life problems, especially its produce an economical losses, therefore, many researches carried out in various fields in order to reduce the bad effect of corrosion, particularly in acidic environments. Using corrosion inhibitors is one of the methods of prevention  corrosion, which come up on organic and inorganic materials, in this study, dried Olive stone powder used as corrosion inhibitor in solutions of hydrochloric acid with concentrations of 0.5, 1 and 1.5 molarity at 40  and 55 , where 10 gm per litter of acid. The corrosion rates of mild steel samples were measured using potentiostat device with reference of calomel electrode. The result shows that corrosion rate reduced by adding the Olive stone powder. The highest inhibition efficiency percent for acid solutions with concentration of 1.5 molarity is 93.8% at 55 , while the lowest was 49.6% in the 0.5 molarity solution at 55 . The chemical composition of the Olive stone powder is shown to be an organic matter of a high carbon and hydrogen content making a carbonyl compound which has the greatest effect in inhibition corrosion in acidic solutions such as hydrochloric acid.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is investigate the inhibition efficiency of three similar bi-cyclic organic compounds, namely, benzimidazole (BI), benzotriazole (BTAH) and benzothiazole (BTH) on carbon steel in 1 M hydrochloric acid (HCl) solution. Organic inhibitors are widely used to protect metals in acidic media. Among abundant suggestions for acid corrosion inhibitors, azole compounds have gained attention. Design/methodology/approach – The inhibition efficiency of the three organic compounds was investigated using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Findings – Superiorities of BTH and BTAH corrosion inhibitors were shown by EIS data and polarization curves. Moreover, the results revealed that BTAH and BTH can function as effective mixed-type adsorptive inhibitors, whereas no inhibition behavior was observed for BI. Both BTAH and BTH obeyed Longmuir adsorption isotherm. The results obtained from this isotherm showed that both inhibitors adsorbed on the specimen surface physically and chemically. The difference in inhibition efficiencies of BTAH, BTH and BI was related to the presence of nitrogen and sulfur hetero atoms on their molecular structures. Originality/value – This study evaluated inhibition efficiency of BI, BTAH and BTH using electrochemical methods. In addition, the study attempted to find inhibition mechanism of the inhibitors and to find modes of adsorption of the inhibitors, correlating effects of heteroatoms and inhibition efficiency.

The corrosion inhibition characteristics of Chrysophyllum albidum cotyledon extract was studied as a green and sustainable corrosion inhibitors for pipeline steel in acidic environment attemperatures, 303,313 and 323K using gravimetric technique. The results obtained showed that the inhibition efficiency increased with increase in extract concentration but decrease with increase in temperature. The extract attained an inhibition efficiency of 94 % with 5 g/L at 303 K and 52.2 % with 1 g/L at 333K. Also increase in concentration of the extract lead to increase in activation energydepicting an exothermic process.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) studies showed the mode of inhibition as adsorption of phytochemicals from the extract on pipeline steel surface. Langmuir adsorption isotherm best fitted into the adsorption process which is spontaneous and physical. Keywords: Chrysophyllum albidum, Pipeline steel, Inhibition, Adsorption.

Corrosion control on petroleum pipe wells can only be done through the addition of corrosion inhibitors. In this study, the corrosion inhibitors studied were sourced from marine microorganisms, namely the type of microalgae Tetraselmis chuii sp. The aim to be achieved in this study was to determine the mechanism and efficiency of inhibition of the extraction of microalgae biomass in corrosion of carbon steel in an environment of petroleum conditions. To achieve this goal, a potentiodynamic polarization method (Tafel extrapolation) was used and the Electrochemistry Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) method used the galvanostat-potentiostat device (Voltalab 40, PGZ 301). The results obtained from this study indicate that API 5L X65 carbon steel in the petroleum environment is very significantly corroded, caused by acidic media derived from acetic acid and dissolved CO2. The inhibition ability of the Tetraselmis chuii sp. Biomass extract. in line with the increasing extraction concentration reaching optimum at a concentration of 250 ppm with inhibition efficiency reaching 70%. The mechanism of inhibition takes place through the formation of a protective layer adsorbed on the surface of carbon steel. The protective membrane formed is uneven and tends to be porous.

Experimentally proved by the method of polarization resistance formation of protective layers during inhibition steel corrosion by Sulfanilamide in aqueous solutions of hydrochloric acid with different pH. It is shown the difference due to the predominance of the protonated or unprotonated form of the molecule. It was found that at predominance of protonated forms of molecules  (pH £2,4) formed dense protective films and predominance of unprotonated forms of molecules  (pH ³2,4) are formed layers that do not inhibit diffusion processes. Sulfanilamide provides high and stable inhibition efficiency (<90%) in acid chloride solutions in case of formation protective layers consisting of protonated molecules what to consider when use it.

In this paper, a study of kinetics and inhibition efficiency by isoquinoline-5-carboxaldehyde of carbon steel corrosion in hydrochloric acid is conducted. The method of weight loss and hydrogen gas evolution was used with various inhibitor concentrations ranging from 150-450 parts per million with several temperatures from 40-60°C. Our results showed that increasing inhibitor concentrations and temperature led to an increase in the inhibition efficiency; this indicates both the adsorption of a film layer on a metal surface and the efficacy of the inhibitor by the attendance of oxygen and nitrogen atoms that have an active part in the adsorption process. In this study entropy, activation, and enthalpy energy were calculated.

The inhibition of mild steel corrosion in hydrochloric acid solution by ciprofloxacin drug as an eco-friendly and commercially available inhibitor was studied at room temperature by weight loss technique. It was found that the test drug has a promising inhibitory action against corrosion of mild steel in the medium investigated. The inhibition efficiency was found to increase with a corresponding increase in the concentration of the inhibitor. It was also found that the adsorption as well as the inhibition process followed a first-order kinetics and obeyed Langmuir’s adsorption isotherm.
