This study attempts to improve students’ speaking achievement through think-pair-share technique by conducting action research method. The subject of this study was XI-IPA 1’s students which consisted of 36. This study was conducted in two cycles and each cycle consisted of three meetings. The instruments for collecting data were quantitative (speaking test) and qualitative data (diary notes and observation sheet). Based on the data analysis from each activity, there is a significant achievement in cycle I and cycle II. In the speaking test, the students’ score kept improving in every test, the mean of the students’ score in cycle I was 66.11 and cycle II was 73.27. Based on diary notes and observation sheet, it was found that teaching learning process ran well. The result of the research showed that by applying think-pair-share technique in teaching English, especially in speaking is effective to improve the students’ speaking achievement.

This study deals with the way to improve students’ achievement in speaking particularly through Two Stay Two Stray Strategy. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of of the research was class X-AP SMK Swasta Harapan Danau Sijabut in Asahan Regency that consisted of 34 students. The research was conducted in two cycles consisted of three meetings in each cycle. The instruments of collecting data for quantitative data used Speaking Test and instrument for analysis of qualitative data used observation, interview and questionnaire sheet. Based on the speaking test score, students’ score kept improving in every test. In the test I the mean was 61,47, in the test II the mean was 67,41 and the test III the mean was 78,52. Based on observation sheet and questionnaire sheet, it was found that teaching learning process run well and lively. Students were active and interest in speaking. The using of Two Stay Two Stray Strategy is significantly improved students’ achievement in speaking.

This study attempted to improve the students’ reading comprehension achievement in descriptive text through Team Games Tournament (TGT) method. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of the research was class IX SMP PAB 10 Medan Estate which consisted of 25 students. The research was conducted in two cycles and the first cycle consisted of four meetings the second cycle consisted of two meetings. The instruments for collecting the data were quantitative data (reading evaluation) and qualitative data (diary note, observation sheet and interview sheet). Based on reading scores, students’ score kept improving in every evaluation. In the test I the mean was 65,33, in the test II the mean was 71,72 and the test III the mean was 84,54.Based on diary note, observation sheet and interview sheet, it was found that teaching-learning process ran well. Students were active, enthusiastic, and interested in reading. The result of the research showed that Team Games Tournament (TGT) method significantly improved students’ achievement in reading comprehension especially in reading descriptive text.

This study attempts to Improving Students’ Achievement Through the Process GenreApproach. The objective of the study is to discover whether the use of the ProcessGenre approach could significantly improve students’ writing achievement. This studyconduct by applying Classroom Action Research which was carried out in two cycles inten meetings. The subject of this study of SMA Panca Budi Medan which consisted of39 students of class X – 2 reguler.. Orientation test was done in the first meeting, test IIwas done in the fourth meeting, and test III was done in the last meeting. The mean ofstudents’ score test III (76,242) was higher than the test II (66,878) and test I (57,606).Besides, the qualitative data was taken from observation sheet, interview, questionnaire,and diary notes. It was found that teaching learning process ran well. By applying theProcess Genre Approach in the classroom, the students understood the content ofdescriptive text easily. They also were active and enthusiastic during the teachinglearning process. The result of the research showed that the application of the ProcessGenre approach significantly improved students’ achievement in writing descriptive text

This study attempts to increase students’ vocabulary achievement by using flash cards. The objective of the study is to investigate whether the using of flash card can improve students’ vocabulary achievement. This study conduct by applying Classroom Action Research which was carried out in two cycles in six meetings. The subject of this study of SD Negeri 174559 Siraituruk, Porsea which consisted of 34 students. For collecting data, the instruments used were quantitative (vocabulary test) and qualitative data (interview sheet, observation sheet, and diary notes. Based on the data, it was found that the mean of the second cycle (80, 44) is higher than the mean of first cycle (64, 85) and pre-test (44, 41).  Based on interview sheet, observation sheet and diary notes, it was found thee students were more active and more enthusiastic during the teaching learning process in the second cycle than the first one. It was concluded that teaching vocabulary by using  flash cards can improve the students’ vocabulary achievement.

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan proses belajar mengajar Permainan Bola Voli Melalui Metode Pembelajaran Games and competition Pada Siswa Kelas V SD Negeri 14 Lebong Selatan. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada jam belajar Penjasorkes kelas V SD Negeri 14 Lebong Selatan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK), penelitian ini secara obyektif atau apa adanya dengan subyek siswa kelas V SD Negeri 14 Lebong Selatan berjumlah 15 orang. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam 2 siklus, setiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu : (1) perencanaan,  (2) pelaksanaan tindakan, (3) observasi, dan (4) refleksi. Jenis data yang dikumpulkan adalah data kualitatif berupa hasil observasi aktivitas guru dan siswa pada saat proses belajar-mengajar berlangsung. Adapun hasil pengamatan terhadap siswa dalam proses belajar mengajar Permainan Bola Voli Melalui Metode Pembelajaran Games and competition pada siklus I adalah sebesar 55% dari keseluruhan pengamatan terhadap proses belajar mengajar. Pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 85%. Sedangkan hasil pengamatan terhadap guru pada siklus I sebesar 65% dan meningkat pada siklus II menjadi 90%. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa adanya peningkatan yang sangat berarti dalam penerapan metode pembelajaran games and competition pada siswa kelas V SD Negeri 14 Lebong Selatan.Kata Kunci : Proses Belajar Mengajar, Bola Voli, Games and competition.AbstackThis study aims to determine the improvement of teaching and learning process of Ball Games through Learning Methods of Games and competition In Grade V Students of Elementary school 14 Lebong Selatan. This research was conducted at the learning hour of class V of SD Negeri 14 Lebong Selatan. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK), this research is objective or what it is with the subject of grade V students of SD Negeri 14 Lebong Selatan totaling 15 people. This study was conducted in 2 cycles, each cycle consisting of four stages: (1) planning, (2) implementation of action, (3) observation, and (4) reflection. The type of data collected is qualitative data in the form of observation of teacher and student activity during the teaching-learning process. The results of observation of the students in the learning process Teaching Ball Volleyball Through Learning Methods Games and competition in the first cycle is 55% of the overall observation of the teaching and learning process. In the second cycle increased to 85%. While the results of observations of teachers in the first cycle of 65% and increased in cycle II to 90%. So it can be concluded that there is a very significant improvement in the application of learning methods of games and competition on students of grade V Elementary school 14 Lebong Selatan.Keywords: Volleyball, Games and competition, Teaching and Learning Proces

This study was aimed to improve student’s ability in writing short funcional text congratulation and complimenting using picture sequences at X MA Nurulhidayah Batujajar in the academic year of 2018/2019 as the subject of the study consists 32 students. This study was conducted for two months.The CAR was done based on Kurt Lewins’ design. The writer did two cycles which each cycle consists with planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. For data were gathered through qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative data were gained by analyzing the interview and observation result, while quantitative data were obtained from the students’ writing score of pretest and posttest.The finding of this study showed that there was improvement on the student’s ability in writing short funcional text congratulation and complimenting using picture sequences. It can be seen from the mean score of pretest was 56.75. Then, the mean score of posttest cycle 1 was 66.37 and the mean score of posttest cycle 2 was 72.62. so the criteria of success was achieved. from the result of questionnaire, it showed that there was improvement of positive responses in the teaching-learning process of writing short funcional textcongratulation and complimenting. Related to the result of observation and interview, it can be concluded that the students’ ability in writing short funcional texcongratulation and complimenting using picture sequences improved and the students’ were motivated in the teaching-learning process.

ABSTRACT This study attempts to improve students’ achievement in writing procedure text through Numbered Heads Together Technique. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of the research was class IX/A SMP SWASTA UPMI MEDAN that consisted of 30 students. The research was conducted in two cycles and the first cycle consisted of four meetings and the second cycle consisted of two meetings. The instruments of collecting data were quantitative data (Writing Test) and Qualitative data (diary notes, observation sheet, interview and questionnaire sheet). Based on the writing test score, students’ score kept improving in every test. In the test I the mean was 67,6, in the test II the mean was 74.5 and the test III the mean was 86.56. Based on observation sheet and questionnaire sheet, it was found that teaching learning process ran well. Students were active and interest in writing. The subject of the research was class X/A SMA Nurul Ilmi Padangsidempuan that consisted of 32 students. The research was conducted in two cycles and the first cycle consisted of four meetings and the second cycle consisted of two meetings. The instruments of collecting data were quantitative data (Writing Test) and Qualitative data (observation sheet, interview and questionnaire sheet). Based on the writing test score, students’ score kept improving in every test. In the test I the mean was 66,4375, in the test II the mean was 78,125 and the test III the mean was 87,5625. Based on observation sheet and questionnaire sheet, it was found that teaching learning process ran well. Students were active and interest in writing. This study aims to improve students’ achievement in writing descriptive text through Group Investigation technique. This study was conducted by using classroom action research that has two cycles within. The first cycle was conducted in four meetings and the second cycle was conducted in two meetings. The subject of the research was the students of grade VIII at Yayasan Pendidikan El Hidayah Madrasah Tsanawiyah Desa Lalang Sunggal which consisted of 28 students. The instruments of collecting data were quantitative (writing test) and qualitative data (observation sheet, questionnaire sheet, and diary notes). Based on the writing test scores, students’ score kept improving in every test. In the orientation test the mean score was 59.42, in the first cycle, the mean score of the competence score was improved to be 68.17, in the second cycle; the mean of the competence score was also improved to be 76.85. Based on the observation sheet, questionnaire sheet, and diary notes, it was found that teaching-learning process ran well. Students were active, enthusiastic, and interested in writing. The result of the research showed that Group Investigation Technique could improve students’ achievement in writing descriptive text.

This study was conducted as an attempt to improve students’ vocabulary achievement on Grade VIII by applying crossword puzzle. It was conducting by using Classroom Action Research. The subject was 38 students of grade VIII of SMPN 35 Medan and was conducted in two cycles. It is consisted of two kinds of instruments namely quantitative and qualitative data. For quantitative data was used vocabulary test which was teachers’ made, and for qualitative data were used diary notes and interview sheets. Based on the data and data analysis, it can be seen that there was an improving of students’ score in cycle I and cycle II, which can be approved from the mean of each test, that were 65.90, 73.92, and 81,25. After applied the crossword puzzle, it can be seen that that vocabulary achievement of the students in SMPN 35 Medan was increase. The research result showed that the application of crossword puzzle in teaching English especially in vocabulary is an effective way to improve the students’ achievement.
