Natural science teachers at Sijunjung Regency Junior High School must teach science and crafts subjects in meeting the teaching load in their respective schools. 65% of the science teachers at the Sijunjung district junior secondary school teach prakarya subjects. Provision of assistance activities can be used as a solution that is expected to motivate teachers to continue to improve their competence. Before the service community activities are carried out then disseminate questionare to see the initial conditions in more detail in the learning of prakarya so that it can be used as a reference in the implementation of applied science mentoring activities in prakarya learning. The questionnaire was distributed using the Gutman scale. The distribution of the questionnaire was carried out on July 13, 2019 before the mentoring activities began. Analysis of the data used is descriptive data analysis. The analysis showed that the junior high school science teachers in Sijunjung Regency were still not professional in teaching crafts at school. This is due to the still lack of application of science / science in learning prakarya. Prakarya subjects have four material aspects, namely: crafts, engineering, cultivation, and processing. The material aspect of crafts is more dominantly taught by science teachers in craft subjects even though this material aspect is more appropriate to be taught by arts / culture teachers. In addition, there are still very few natural science teachers who are able to compile craft teaching materials. Therefore, the results of this initial condition analysis can be used as a reference in the implementation of applied natural science mentoring activities in prakarya learning so that it suits the needs.

Kata Kunci : Kartu Kuartet, Asam Basa Garam, Kelayakan, ResponABSTRACTThis research was conducted to determine the level of feasibility and teacher response to the Quartet Card Game on acid base and salt material Junior High School 9 Pontianak. The form of research and development is (R&D) which adopts the ADDIE development model. Collecting data to determine the teacher’s response by giving a questionnaire to 3 science teachers in the schools studied. The results of data processing show that the developed quartet card game is suitable for use in learning in terms of the percentage of language feasibility of 100%, media is 100%, in the proper category and material is 91,66%, with the very feasible category, and the teacher’s response was 81,24% for the Quartet Card Game. This shows that Junior High School 9 Pontianak is in the very high category. This the Quartet Card Game can be used in leraning of Acid Base and Salt materials as an auxiliary medium in learning. Keywords: Quartet Card, Acid Base Sald, Feasibility, Response

PISA (Program for International Students Assessment) test result on 2018 put Indonesia in the 72th position of 78 countries. The report showed the importance to improve the level of students thinking ability. There are many possible ways to develop students’ thinking. One way to do that is by giving the students drill to solve PISA problems. However, this solution is difficult to implement because designing PISA problems is difficult for the teachers. Therefore, 24 junior high school mathematics and science teachers ware selected in order to give them training and workshop to improve their ability to design PISA like problems using action research methods. Three stages ware implemented in the training and workshop. First, introduction to PISA, Second, designing PISA Problems, and third, trying out and evaluating the test result. Product of the workshop are 48 PISA like problems of mathematics and 42 PISA like problems of science.

Based on observation result, study documentation of interview and questionnaire that was given to the students, problems found, the teaching skills of junior high school science teachersat STOof Ogan Ilir regency inapplying scientific approach had been still low, this research was conducted with the aim to investigate whether STO activity ofOgan Ilir regency could improve the teaching skills of junior high school science teachers in Ogan Ilir regency in implementing the scientific approach. The methodology used in this research is action research which was conducted for three cycles. Each cycle consists of, planning, execution, observation, evaluation and reflection. The result showed that the teaching skill of junior high school science teachers in applying scientific approachhad improved significantly from the first cycle to the second cycle, and from the second cycle to the third cycle. Increasing of teaching skills of science teacher in applying scientific approach was the effect of STO activity.

Indonesia is a country with very rich in local regional potential. The local potential can be utilized as one of the natural science learning sources in junior high school. One of the local potentials that can be integrated with science lessons is food. This research aimed to conduct the study, analysis, and develop science subject specific pedagogy of natural science learning integrated local food in Cangkringan Sub-District to introduce chemical materials in junior high school, namely additives in food and its impact on health. This research was research and development (R&D) with 4-D model, consist of define, design, develop, and disseminate. Product eligibility is assessed by the validator using the product feasibility assessment sheet. Product feasibility assessment scores are then classified in product rating category classification. This research results is produce science subject specific pedagogy that consist of syllabuses, lesson plans, handouts, and student worksheets. The developed syllabus gets a feasibility score of 4.00, lesson plan gets a score of 3.80, the handout gets a score of 3.60, while the student worksheet gets a score of 3.80. Based on these results, overall, the science subject specific pedagogy developed gained a very good category.

An adequate understanding and classroom application of the Nature of Science (NOS) has become imperative for science teachers. Current research in senior high school science teachers’ understanding of NOS is extensive but junior high school natural sciences teachers’ understanding of NOS and planning of lessons requires further exploration. Six junior high school natural sciences teachers’ understandings of NOS, and how they translated their NOS understandings into lesson planning in South Africa were explored. The conceptual framework of the NOS used in this research is drawn from the seven NOS aspects of explicit and implicit teaching of NOS. Data were collected from teachers’ academic background questionnaires, Views of Nature of Science (VNOS(C)) questionnaires, semi-structured interviews and lesson planning documents of teachers. Data were analysed descriptively and interpretively. The findings revealed that junior high school teachers possessed inadequate understanding of NOS, and that their planning for teaching NOS was hardly influenced by their understanding of NOS aspects. The teachers’ work-schedules and lesson plans showed little explicit links of NOS aspects to lesson content. The research findings have implications for the preparation of lessons with NOS aspects linked to the curriculum content. Keywords: junior high school teachers, lesson planning, nature of science, natural sciences.
