Background: Exercise is an effective non-pharmacological intervention for the enhancement of neuromuscular and cardiorespiratory health. In particular, High-Intense Intermittent Training (HIIT) has been implicated in health management; however, in specific populations such as the elderly, is needed more investigations. Objective: The aim is to determine the impact of HIIT in the neuromuscular and cardiorespiratory fitness of the elderly. Methods: Thirty-two elderly volunteers, 71.0 ± 2.1 years, were randomly divided into two groups, control (CG) (n = 16), that did not participate in any interventions, and experimental (EG) (n = 16) that participated in a 12-week exercise program based on HIIT 3 times a week, and 40 minutes by a meeting. Both groups were subjected before and after the intervention period to neuromuscular and cardiorespiratory testing, and monthly were clinically evaluated by a Physician. Results: No orthopaedic events were reported to both groups, and the CG showed no enhancement to all variables. The EG, muscular endurance of the upper limbs was enhanced (p <0.0001), as was muscular endurance of the lower limbs (p <0.0001), localized muscular endurance of abdominal muscles (p <0.0001), lower limb muscle power (p <0.0001) and aerobic power (p <0.0001). There were no adverse events during or after the intervention period. Conclusion: HIIT is an effective strategy to promote enhancement of neuromuscular and cardiorespiratory fitness in the elderly and showed safe because no orthopaedic and cardiovascular events were reported.

Introduction: This study’s purpose was to measure and compare isokinetic muscle function and anaerobic exercise capacity of knee joints according to the three Kukki Taekwondo competition types. Methods: A total of 21 elite Korean male poomsae (forms), gyorugi (sparring), and demonstration athletes majoring in Taekwondo were selected as the subjects of the study. Subjects’ physical fitness levels were measured using standardized strength, endurance, agility, balance, and flexibility tests. In particular, the isokinetic muscle function measurement system was used to measure the muscle function of subjects’ knee joints, and the Wingate test was used to measure their anaerobic exercise ability. Results: Gyorugi athletes showed better results than their poomsae and demonstration counterparts in nearly all metrics, including body composition, physical fitness factors, isokinetic muscle function (60°/sec), muscle power (180°/sec), and anaerobic exercise capacity. Gyorugi athletes were also taller and showed higher muscle mass, strength, muscular endurance, and agility. However, poomsae athletes showed a higher level of flexibility. The results found isokinetic muscle function and anaerobic exercise capacity of the knee joint to be most important for gyorugi athletes and then for demonstration and poomsae athletes, in that order. Conclusions: This study provides useful information needed to identify the physical fitness factors of the different Kukki Taekwondo athletes, and, in turn, it is may serve as important fundamental data for developing future systematic Taekwondo training programs.

This study is correlational research that aims to find the contribution of leg muscleexplosive power to yield long jump squat style. The student sample was the son of varsity sportscoaching education Riau semester totaling 42 people. As the independent variable is theexplosive power leg muscle while dependent variable is the result of the long jump jongok style.Data (x) obtained from the test results without the leading long jump (standing board jump) toassess leg muscle explosive power while data (y) obtained from testing the long jump squat styleusing the prefix. Data were analyzed with statistical normality test is a test last lilifors alsoanalyzed the data to look for the correlation coefficient, and then proceed to test "t" after itsought the contribution. From the results of data processing for the normal distribution of dataobtained for the provision of data (x) and abnormally distributed in terms of data (y). r = 0.32,then through the test "t", t_ (count>) ttabel then there is a significant relationship between theexplosive muscle power with the outcome long jump squat style, via analysis of leg muscleexplosive power of determination have contributed 10.24% and 89 , 76% was contributed byother factors.
