Abstract The use of composite systems in protecting, preserving and maintaining historical monuments has become more and more used. There are several consolidation procedures with fiber-reinforced polymeric polymers that can be applied as required or on the basis of the basic material (concrete, masonry, wood, etc.). Besides the many advantages it provides, the application of composite systems in the rehabilitation of heritage buildings and historical monuments requires minimal workmanship. More and more cities are actively involved in the rehabilitation and preservation of heritage buildings and historical monuments by launching good practice guides to preserve local cultural heritage by applying composite elements as robust as possible without the need to modify the overall dimensions of the buildings through a classic covering.

The use of composites in the field of architectural restoration is becoming more and more widespread, because of the great technical advantages they convey in many cases. But applying these materials to the Cultural Heritage poses not only technical issues, common to all the applications on the same materials, but also artistic, historical and, more generally, cultural ones. The present paper faces these issues, starting with some considerations on how they were dealt with in history, when the “new” materials were iron, steel and reinforced concrete. Then, the specific problems posed by the composite materials are discussed and some examples are shown in order to identify the correct approach to the many different cases that can arouse in the field of architectural restoration. There isn’t a single right solution for each problem, but there is a right approach that starts from the comprehension of the building’s behavior, passes through a comparison of all the possible solutions and aims at finding the best equilibrium among the technical and theoretical issues for the single case study.

This paper analyzes the properties of fibre reinforced composite materials, which are used for the improvement or reform of Wushu equipment so as to promote Wushu cultural heritage. Reinforced composite materials can help promote the reform or improvement Wushu protective gear and target, Wushu performance or fitness appliances, expressing Wushu moves better and highlighting its artistic attribute . Besides, this paper also expounds strengthening the popularization of Wushu to provide help for improving the traditional Wushu conditions as well as strong support for the development of Wushu athletics and Wushu standardization.

Due to weathering and natural disasters, several cultural heritage buildings are devastated all around the world. It becomes necessary to preserve these historical monuments for future generations. Therefore, 3D modelling of historical monuments is a great tool to preserve these monuments as a digital heritage. The advantage of digital modelling of heritage sites also helps archaeologists to study the various aspects of that site while sitting at their own place without any need to travel to actual physical site. It saves time as well as reduces traveling cost. Moreover, many archaeologists can participate remotely to give their suggestions for future constructions. Also, digital archive of 3D models helps in restoration of devastated parts of buildings.

Abstract The article discusses a project that features the relocation of the historic Atelier building, built by Krakow-based architect Wandalin Beringer (1839–1923) who was active in the early twentieth century, and the regeneration of a plot belonging to the Congregation of the Resurrection since 1885, which is located at 12 Łobzowska Street in Krakow. The method includes cutting the entire structure off at the foundation and then after reinforcing it with a steel structure transporting it in its entirety to the new location. The project included two possible variants of moving the building in a straight line, either by 21 or 59 metres and evaluates two projects of further regeneration, the adaptive reuse of the building as an exhibition and religious space as well as a proposal for the remodelling of the nearby plot that belongs to the Congregation into a space for meditation and as a recreational park. The aim of these measures is to prevent the demolition of this building, now over a century old, as a result of which a forgotten element of the cultural heritage of the city will be saved. This project was based on the results of analyses of the cultural and historical conditions of Krakow. The block of buildings in which the Atelier in question is located is a very attractive location, near to the very centre of Krakow, adjacent to residential, service and educational buildings. It is directly adjacent to the Monastery Complex of the Congregation of the Resurrection, listed as a heritage building under conservation protection (municipal registry of heritage buildings). In the second half of the twentieth century, the building was used as a workroom by artists such as Xawery Dunikowski and later by the sculptress Teodora Stasiak. The case of the Atelier may provide an inspiration for discussion as well as raising awareness among citizens and city authorities to avoid future situations in which cultural heritage may become forgotten or demolished.

Background: This era has seen outstanding achievements in materials science through the advances in natural fiber-based composites. The new environmentally friendly and sustainability concerns have imposed the chemists, biologists, researchers, engineers, and scientists to discover the engineering and structural applications of natural fiber reinforced composites. Objective: To present a comprehensive evaluation of information from 2000 to 2018 in United States patents in the field of natural fibers and their composite materials. Methods: The patent data have been taken from the external links of US patents such as IFI CLAIMS Patent Services, USPTO, USPTO Assignment, Espacenet, Global Dossier, and Discuss. Results: The present world scenario demands the usage of natural fibers from agricultural and forest byproducts as a reinforcement material for fiber reinforced composites. Natural fibers can be easily extracted from plants and animals. Recently natural fiber in nanoscale is preferred over micro and macro scale fibers due to its superior thermo-mechanical properties. However, the choice of macro, micro, and nanofibers depends on their applications. Conclusion: This document presents a comprehensive evaluation of information from 2000 to 2018 in United States patents in the field of natural fibers and their composite materials.
