Abstract The current study completed the information regarding the phenotypic variability in the Danube ruffe (Gymnocephalus baloni). We also assessed the phylogenetic relationship of G. baloni with the other two species of the genus Gymnocephalus from the Lower Danube River. Ten morphological characters were the most useful together for discriminating between G. baloni and G. cernua from the Lower Danube River. In addition, we found a more streamlined body shape in G. baloni compared with the described holotype, which could be in connection with fish phenotypic response to ecological characteristics of the Lower Danube River.

AbstractOigolaimella kruegeri n. sp. and Oigolaimella ninae n. sp. are described. Oigolaimella kruegeri n. sp. males can be recognised by the lack of the gubernacular keel characteristic of other Oigolaimella species and by the modified distribution pattern of the genital sensillae. Oigolaimella ninae n. sp. can be recognised and distinguished from the other members of the genus by the refractive cuticularised ring formed by the anterior edge of the cheilostomatal collar. Oigolaimella longicauda (Claus, 1862) n. comb. is accepted as a valid species, regarded as a senior synonym of O. agilis (Skwarra, 1921) and redescribed. Oigolaimella diplogaster (von Linstow, 1890) n. comb. is proposed. The phylogenetic relationship of Oigolaimella is discussed and an ecological characterisation of the taxon given on the basis of observations on feeding behaviour and locomotion in the habitat.

The monotypic genus Curiades Pascoe 1880 (Curculionidae: Entiminae: Naupactini) is redescribed based on the type species C. boisduvali (Boheman 1840), endemic to Río de Janeiro, Brazil. Curiades boisduvali shows a characteristic color pattern and vestiture composed of long erect setae that resembles species of Dasymutilla Ashmead 1899, a genus of Mutillidae (Hymenoptera) whose wingless females have aposematic colors and painful stings. The similarities between the wasp (model) and the weevil (mimic) suggest a case of Batesian mimicry. The morphological characters of the rostrum and antennae justify a close phylogenetic relationship of Curiades and Platyomus Sahlberg 1823, even though based on its hairy vestiture the former is superficially more similar to Trichaptus Pascoe 1880, another Brazilian naupactine mimic of mutillid wasps. The present contribution includes a redescription of Curiades and its only known species, accompanied by habitus photographs, line drawings of genitalia and other diagnostic features.

Kiekie gen. nov. is newly proposed to accommodate 11 Neotropical Ctenidae species. With the exception of one species from Colombia, they are all distributed in Central America. Two species are transferred from Ctenus: Kiekie sinuatipes (F.O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1897) comb. nov. from Costa Rica, and K. curvipes (Keyserling, 1881) comb. nov., with broader distribution from Mexico to Panama. Ctenus incolans (F.O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1900) is synonymized with Kiekie curvipes. Nine species are newly described. Kiekie garifuna sp. nov. was collected in Guatemala and Honduras. Four species were collected in Costa Rica: Kiekie sanjose sp. nov., K. verbena sp. nov., K. sarapiqui sp. nov., and K. griswoldi sp. nov.. Two species were collected in Panama: Kiekie barrocolorado sp. nov. and K. panamensis sp. nov.. Kiekie montanensis sp. nov. was collected in Costa Rica and Panama. Kiekie antioquia sp. nov., from Colombia, was the only species collected in South America. To support the description and further identification of the genus and its species, we provide illustrations of male and female genitalia, habitus and modified metatarsus of the male leg IV, measurements and diagnostic characters. We also provide a distributional map of the specimens herein recorded. Taxonomic changes are based in recent cladistics analysis, showing that at least two species belong to a well-supported clade, sister group of Africactenus Hyatt, 1954. We discuss the phylogenetic relationship of the group and the evolution of key morphological characters.

Abstract The sexual morph (chasmothecium) of Erysiphe macleayae on Chelidonium majus has been found in Romania for the first time. Although the asexual morph of this powdery mildew on C. majus is known from many countries, the occurrence of chasmothecia on this host is rather rare. A description of morphological characters and an analysis of the phylogenetic relationship of ITS sequences of the Romanian specimens are presented.

Phylogenetic relationship of 97 I1 plasmids harboring blaCTX-M genes encoding extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) was analyzed using the ORF-based binarized structure network analysis of plasmids (OSNAp). The majority of plasmids carrying blaCTX-M-1 or blaCTX-M-8, ESBL genes primarily associated with domestic animals, were clonal. On the other hand, plasmids carrying bla>CTX-M-14 or bla>CTX-M-15, identified from both humans and domestic animals, were diverse in their contents. The findings suggest that circulation of I1 plasmids among humans and animals may contribute to their diversity.

Français. Un inventaire des ptéridophytes a été entrepris dans les forêts de la région de Tlemcen. L’inventaire de ces populations constitue une étape importante pour le développement des stratégies de conservation des ressources génétiques et de la diversité de ces populations sur l’ensemble de leur aire de distribution naturelle. Nous avons ainsi effectué le recensement et l’identification des fougères existantes dans la région de Tlemcen. Au total, plusieurs stations dont les caractéristiques écologiques diffèrent d’un site à un autre ont été prospectées, cela a permis l’identification de 26 taxons (dont 5 exceptionnellement rare). La création de réserves naturelles forestières renforcée par une protection réglementaire des espèces les plus menacées est nécessaire pour le maintien de ces communautés si particulières. English. An inventory of Pteridophyta was begun in the forests of the Tlemcen region. The inventory of these populations constitutes an important stage for the developement of the strategies of preservation of the genetic resources and the diversity of these populations on their whole area of natural distribution. We so made the inventory and the identification of the existing ferns in the region of Tlemcen. On the whole, several stations the ecological characteristics differ from a site in the other one were canvassed; they allowed the identification of 26 taxes (among which 5 exceptionally rare). The creation of forest nature reserves strengthened by a statutory protection of the most threatened species is necessary for the preservation of these particular communities.
