In the RUPTL PT PLN Years 2017 untill 2026, the goverment aim to reach 5000 MW of PV plant potential in 2025. But, until November 2016, the number of PV plant in Indonesia is around 11 MW. To reach the 5000 MW target, many approach must be use. One of the approach is install PV plant on goverment buildings. Pusat Pemerintahan Kabupaten Badung (Puspem Badung) is a goverment buildings complex which located in Badung Regency, Bali is one of the goverment building that can be use for this approach. This paper aim to know the potency of electrical power dan electrical energy produced by Puspem Badung if the PV plant installed on the north, east, west, and south side of the roof. Electrical energy produced by PV plant is simulated by using System Advisor Model (SAM). From the simulation results, north side of the roof can produce energy of 1.847.361 kWh/year. From the analysis, the total energy that can be produced by PV plant is 6.169.092 kWh/year. This amount can supply Puspem Badung energy need by 124,72 %.

In 1892 Tsountas in the course of exploration on the top of the ridge between the ‘Tomb of Clytemnestra’ and the Lion Gate found a painted circular cap of poros (o·61 m. in diameter), which from the cuttings in it clearly seems to have been connected with some form of installation for water (Plate 14, b). It bears an inscription which as restored refers to Perseus. This inscribed cap Tsountas says he found among later ruins, but he did not specify the exact position. In 1922 therefore we investigated the ruins of apparently Hellenistic date which lie directly to the south of the modern carriage road on the top of the ridge to the north of the ‘Tomb of Clytemnestra’. A long terrace wall of ashlar work in poros was found running in an east-west direction along the south side of the modern road. In front of it, against its north side, lie two cement-lined basins (Plate 14, a). When these were first found and partially examined in 1922 it was suggested that they might be part of a gymnasium of Hellenistic date. At the same time a trial trench XIa by side of the steps was dug down about 0·25 m. into the soft rock below. In 1939 further trials were made behind (to the south of) the western part of the main terrace wall. Trench VII, which was dug to rock, was part of this work. At the same time the curved wall was exposed and part of the ‘votive deposit’ was excavated. The pottery then found, which was lost in the Nauplia Museum during the war, was of the same character as that found in 1952 and described below. In 1952, as part of the programme of exploration on the top and sides of the ridge which runs westward from the Lion Gate, it was decided to clear these ruins completely and study and plan them afresh.

The Mauritius Radio Telescope (MRT) is a Fourier synthesis instrument which has been built to fill the gap in the availability of deep sky surveys at low radio frequencies in the southern hemisphere. It is situated in the north-east of Mauritius at a southern latitude of 20°.14 and an eastern longitude of 57°.73. The aim of the survey with the MRT is to contribute to the database of southern sky sources in the declination range −70° ≤ δ ≤ −10°, covering the entire 24 hours of right ascension, with a resolution of 4' × 4'.6sec(δ + 20.14°) and a point source sensitivity of 200 mJy (3σ level) at 151.5 MHz.MRT is a T-shaped non-coplanar array consisting of a 2048 m long East-West arm and a 880 m long South arm. In the East-West arm 1024 fixed helices are arranged in 32 groups and in the South arm 16 trolleys, with four helices on each, which move on a rail are used. A 512 channel, 2-bit 3-level complex correlation receiver is used to measure the visibility function. At least 60 days of observing are required for obtaining the visibilities up to the 880 m spacing. The calibrated visibilities are transformed taking care of the non-coplanarity of the array to produce an image of the area of the sky under observation.This paper will describe the telescope, the observations carried out so far, a few interesting aspects of imaging with this non-coplanar array and present results of a low resolution survey (13' × 18') covering roughly 12 hours of right ascension, and also present an image with a resolution of 4' × 4'.6sec(δ + 20.14°) made using the telescope.

1. Previous investigations showed that certain Scottish soils were of glacial drift origin, that they were comparatively rich in unweathered silicates and therefore in reserves of plant-food, that they showed considerable variation in such silicates and were capable of classification accordingly. Some indication was also shown that the glacial drift, and hence the resulting soil, was sometimes of local origin, its character being determined by the underlying rock. In the present investigation a more extensive survey of Scottish soils has been made in order to discover to what extent these preliminary findings might be applicable generally.2. For this purpose soils have been collected from various localities in the north, north-east, west and south of Scotland, and have been analysed mechanically and the “fine sand” fraction examined mineralogically.

Urban furniture can be defined as aesthetics and comfort elements that reflect the identity of a city and enable the urban space to become livable. Urban furniture is an important element of the city in order to improve the quality of urban life, to create a comfortable and reliable environment and to meet the needs of the users in the best way. For designing these elements, the social, economic, cultural and architectural structure of the city should be considered and evaluated. It is important to adapt the urban furniture to the urban texture and to the cultural structure achieving an urban identity, in order to ensure the survival and sustainability of the historical environments. In this study, a study was carried out in the context of urban furniture in Nicosia Walled City, which has many architectural cultures with its historical texture. In this context, firstly the concept of urban identity and urban furniture was explained and then, information about urban furniture was given in historical circles with urban furniture samples from different countries. As a field study, a main axis was determined and the streets and squares on this axis were discussed. These areas have been explored starting from Kyrenia Gate in North Nicosia; İnönü Square, Girne Street, Atatürk Square, Arasta Square, Lokmacı Barricade and on the south side Ledra Street and Eleftherias Square. In this context, the existing furniture in the North and South were determined and evaluated in terms of urban identity accordingly. As a result, it can be suggested that the existing street furniture equipments, especially on the north side, do not have any characteristic to emphasize the urban identity. According to the findings, it was determined that the urban furniture in the streets and squares on the north side is generally older and neglected, and does not provide a unity with the environment, whereas on the south side, these elements on the street and square are relatively new, functional and environmentally compatible.Key words: urban furniture, historical environment, urban identity, Nicosia Old City

In plan the walls surrounding the Acropolis of Sparta form an irregular oblong, terminated to the east and west by two small hills which formed citadels or outlook points. Though no single complete part remains, and in many places the walls are levelled to the ground, the lines can still be traced fairly completely. (Plate VIII. 3.)At the south eastern corner are the ruins of a Roman Stoa of the Imperial period (A). They shew a series of small compartments (Fig. 1), covered with barrel vaults, ten on either side of three larger central rooms, which are roofed with crossgroined vaults and large semicircular niches at the back. The ground on the north side is as high as the vaults and originally must have formed a terrace overlooking the street on to which the Stoa opened on its south side.


The chief circumstance that induced Capt. Flinders to think his observations Upon the marine barometer were worthy of attention, was the coincidence that took place between the rising and falling of the mercury, and the setting in of winds that blew from the sea and from off the land, to which there seemed to be at least as much reference as to the strength of the wind or the state of the atmosphere. Our author’s examination of the coasts of New Holland and the other parts of the Terra Australis, began at Cape Leuwen, and con­tinued eastward along the south coast. His observations, which, on account of their length, we must pass over, show, that a change of wind from the northern half of the compass to any point in the southern half, caused the mercury to rise; and that a contrary change caused it to fall. Also, that the mercury stood considerably higher When the wind came from the south side of east and west, than when, in similar weather, it came from the north side.

A subcircular positive magnetic anomaly and breccias affecting a basanite and its country-rock metasedimentary rocks reveal the presence of a diatreme with a diameter of approximately 420 m, at Eastman, in the Quebec Appalachians. The post-Middle Devonian age, the position in the line of the Monteregian plutons, and the basanite composition, which is comparable to that of the Cretaceous Monteregian alkaline lamprophyres, suggest that the diatreme is related to the Monteregian magmatism. It is located at the junction of two orthogonal tectonic corridors: the north-north-east Baie Verte – Brompton line and an east−west fault network along the prolongation of the Ottawa−Bonnechère Graben. These structures are zones of weakness that probably served as a conduit for the ascending magma and near-surface water to trigger phreatomagmatic eruptions.

The irregular oval line, delineated on the annexed map (Plate XIV.) shows nearly the inner edge of a limestone bason, in which all the strata of coal and iron ore (commonly called Iron Stone) in South Wales are deposited; the length of this bason is upwards of 100 miles, and the average breadth in the counties of Monmouth, Glamorgan, Carmarthen, and part of Brecon, is from 18 to 20 miles, and in Pembrokeshire only from 3 to 5 miles. 2. On the north side of a line, that may be drawn in an east and west direction, ranging nearly through the middle of this bason, all the strata rise gradually northward; and on the south side of this line they rise southward, till they come to the surface, except at the east end, which is in the vicinity of Pontipool, where they rise eastward.

A 3.8 kW rooftop photovoltaic generator has been installed on an energy efficient house built at the University of Fort Hare, Alice campus, South Africa. The system, located on the north facing roof, started generating electrical power in February 2009. In addition to providing electrical energy, the photovoltaic panels also act as the building roofing material. An instrumentation and data acquisition system was installed to record the indoor and outdoor ambient temperature, indoor and outdoor relative humidity, wind speed and direction, solar irradiance, electrical energy produced by the solar panels and the household energy consumption. This paper presents the initial results of the electrical performance of the building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) generator and energy consumption patterns in the energy efficient house.

A palhada representa um terço da energia primária da cana-de-açúcar, mas a sua utilização ainda é incipiente, apesar da grande potencialidade para o seu aproveitamento. O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar o potencial de geração de energia elétrica da palhada de cana-de-açúcar em conjunto com o bagaço, através de uma análise técnico-econômica. Realizou -se o dimensionamento de uma frota dedicada ao recolhimento da palhada e de uma nova planta de cogeração, com substituição das caldeiras e turbinas existentes, inclusive as turbinas de acionamento dos equipamentos de preparação e extração, em uma usina típica do norte do Paraná. Foram estimados os investimentos necessários para a aquisição dessa frota e da modernização proposta para a área industrial. Os custos do recolhimento da palhada e da geração de energia elétrica foram calculados, bem como o preço mínimo de venda da energia. Também foram calculados a quantidade de consumidores residenciais e os municípios que poderiam ser abastecidos por essa energia. A capacidade de exportação é de 111,912 kWh por tonelada de cana-de-açúcar, com custo da palhada no pátio de bagaço da usina a R$68,08 t-1, custo da energia-elétrica de R$125,55 MWh e preço mínimo de comercialização da energia a R$316,64 MWh. A energia elétrica exportada pode atender uma população de 87.946 pessoas, o que corresponde a energia consumida pela cidade onde estaria localizado o projeto e de mais seis municípios canavieiros do Norte do Paraná. O projeto proporciona a criação de 96 novos empregos diretos.PALAVRAS-CHAVES: Cogeração, eletricidade, bioenergia, biomassa, enfardamento. TechnIC-economic evaluation of sugarcane straw FOR power generation in ParanA STATEABSTRACT: The straw represents one-third of the sugarcane’s primary energy, but its exploitation is still incipient, despite having a huge potential for its utilization. This research aimed to evaluate the potential energy generation of sugarcane residues together with the bagasse, through a technical and economic analysis. The fleet sizing dedicated to straw harvesting and a new combined heat and power plant, replacing the existing boilers and turbines, inclusive the turbines of preparation and extraction, was made in a north of Parana’s typical sugarcane mill. All the investments required were estimated in order to purchase this new fleet and proposals for the modernization of the industrial area. The straw harvesting and electrical power generation expenses were determined, as well as the energy’s minimum selling price. The residential consumers were also estimated and as well as the cities that could be supplied with this energy. The export capability is 111.912 kW per ton of cane, the straw in the plant’s stockyards R$68.08 t-1, electrical energy cost R$125.55 MWh and the energy selling minimum price, R$316.64 MWh. The exported energy attends an 87,946 population, what corresponds to the power consumption of the city where the project takes place and over 6 sugar cane producer cities in the North of Parana.
